Location: About 10mins walk from the main market, on the road towards Siliguri. Ambience: Simply decorated, large tables and floor tables, large windows overlooking the mountains. Service: Was quite prompt. However, the lady taking orders was not good in English so difficult to understand the dishes. Filtered drinking water available. Ordered: * Itshum (Bhutanese Red Rice): Rs 100. Slightly sticky rice, small grains, good to taste. * Langsha Juma (Beef Sausages): Rs 250. Sausages cut into small pieces and sautéed with onions tomatoes, mildly spicy, excellent taste. * Kewa Datshi (Potato with Cheese): Rs 120. Fabulous taste, slices of boiled potatoes simmered in a cheesy broth. Overall, highly recommended!

This place has a wonderful vibe. Love the food here. Ate to my heart's content. Amazing quality and quantity of food here. Out of the 3 days in Kalimpong, i ate here 4 times. They also play some videos of Bhutanese culture. So nice and soothing as well. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best food in kalimpong en route to Gangtok from Baghdogra. Exactly midway on the highway. Limited menu options but good wholesome healthy food. Very lightly spiced so good for traveller's tummy. Note : Lunch is only buffet. No a la carte during lunch hours.

Read reviews about Za Khang, and went to try out the Bhutanese cuisine for the first time in my life. It's a nice, cosy place about few minutes walk from the Kalimpong main market chowk (next to the police station). It's usually not too crowded, especially if you are going in the evening. They serve a veg/non-veg buffet spread during the day, but I went for ala carte as it was already supper time. As the recommendation from the owner aunty, I ordered boiled rice with dried pork ema datshi. It was very flavorful and the umami of the dried pork in local cheese datshi was amazing. Pocket pinch is reasonable, so if you want to explore typical Bhutanese food in Kalimpong, then Za Khang is the place to go. 5/5

Superb Bhutanese food.... U should try all the items... It is a lunch buffet and you have variety of dishes Ema datshi, kewa datshi, gondo datshi are some i remember..;p dishes are made with cheese and are very light to the tummy. U get ala carte apart from the buffet . You can try thupka.. dry/ with soup

I have been to Bhutan and loved the food there. I was very excited to visit this place as I was expecting the same quality but I was disappointed. To my surprise, it was empty during lunch time. It's on the first floor, with a nice view of the valley. The seating is neat with decor inspired by Bhutanese culture. You only get Bhutanese food here so don't expect any Indian food. I wanted to try a lot of things, but they said they serve those only on weekends. The butter tea and the pork soup were very nice. But the main course of chicken Datshi was a downer, it was too sour and the flavor of the chillies was underwhelming. The egg Datshi was a little dry. What irked me was the coldness and indifference of the staff and the owner. A smile is not too much to ask for.

Great food at very reasonable prices. Excellent vibes and views. So try the salted butter tea as an appetiser - you won’t regret. Most pork and chicken dishes are good here, to go with red rice. A must place to visit if you’re looking for authentic Bhutanese food.

My first time trying out Bhutanese cuisine. Glad I visited this place. They didn't have the buffet when I visited so ordered a la carte. Pork rice (forgot what it's called in Bhutanese) was amazing and bursting with flavour.ost of dishes sounded alien to me but the server was helpful and explained the dishes patiently to me. Next time I'm in Kalimpong, I will definitely go here for the buffet.

I chose ZA KHANG for lunch, which offered a breathtaking view of Kanchenjunga from their rooftop dining space. The restaurant specialises in Bhutanese Cuisine. I tasted Sikam Ema Datshi (Dried Pork with Cheese) [which was hands-down the best Pork dish that I've ever tasted ❤️] accompanied by Khulu (Buckwheat Pancakes) and Ezey (Chilli Paste). It was such a satisfying experience!

5 star is lesser for this Restaurant. It is one of those restaurants which should not be missed if you visiting Kalimpong. Hospitality is Suparb. Ambience of rooftop restaurant with mountain view is just jaw dropping. All ingredients aka water even imported From Bhutan . Here food is not only served .. it got touch of enriched Bhutanese culture. I am thankful to Monika (the hostess helped us) for making our visit memorable for life time.

Fell in love woth the cozy Bhutanese restaurant. Came with a lot of recommendation from the locals and met upto all of the expectations. The staff is very warm and friendly and they explained the food to me well. Absolutely loved the Ema Datshi and the glass noodles. If you like spice, ask for the Chili pickles they are delicious. . I also tried dried beetroot leaves and they ar chewey but as you chew them they yield a lot of flavor. Very unique dining experience.

You may have difficulty in finding it as one needs to first identify the building and then walk straight up to the fourth floor. But the food and the behaviour from the staff will make up for that. A must-visit when in Kalimpong.

This is an absolutely amazing place. Small and comfortable with a friendly staff. We had Annie, the proprietor, suggest dishes for us, and I would suggest that rather than me telling you what to try there, try having them suggest what you should have, I'm sure you will be rewarded. Go visit, it will be worth your while

Bhutanese food is really good in Zha Khang. This is a nice, clean and good restaurant. Too bad, we didn’t know they have rooftop, where the view of Kanhchanjunga would be majestic. The server was friendly and efficient. Excellent restaurant!

For someone who has been Living the food of Kolkata, Less Spicy and Less Masala might affect a Little Bit. The Food was well prepared, the Bhutan culture I guess has less masala to it which is why their skin is so good. I love Pork but dont think I could have gone for more of it here. Loved the Chicken, Red Rice and the rest of the Food in the Menu.

My first experience of eating Bhutanese food was day Za Khang and trust me it's the best place to get a complete experience of what Bhutanese food is all about. The family serving at the restaurant is extremely warm and were kind enough to explain about each dish. They also have a buffet spread which is great for a newbie like me who has no idea about Bhutanese food. I tried everything veg and non veg and the food was fresh and excellent. The cusine is a delight for meat, cheese and butter lovers. Must try their Buffet!

This is an amazing Bhutanese restaurant serving great food in the heart of Kalimpong. There's both regular table and chairs seating as well as seating on mattresses on the floor. When I visited on an evening in Mar 2020, they had a great buffet spread for just 299 which included red and white rice, chicken curry, pork stir fry, dry thukpa noodles as well as Bhutanese delicacies such as ema datsi etc. I would highly recommend every visitor to Kalimpong to try this!

Za Khang is an authentic Bhutanese restaurant. It has a rooftop experience centre and that is beautiful with a Kanchenjunga view. The food is good. But the sides are really small in quantity and I would recommend two sides for one portion of rice. But the homemade cheese and an expert culinary skill makes this restaurant a gem of a place. A must visit if you are a foodie and are looking for authentic Bhutanese dishes. They also serve beef and pork.
