Durpin Monastery is a must-visit for anyone visiting Kalimpong. It is a beautiful and peaceful place, with a rich history and culture. The monastery is also home to a number of interesting and important artifacts, including the 108 volumes of the Kangyur. The monks at Durpin Monastery are very welcoming and friendly. They are always happy to answer questions about the monastery and Buddhism in general. Visitors are also welcome to attend the monastery's daily prayers and ceremonies. Here are some of the things to see and do at Durpin Monastery: Visit the main prayer hall and see the statue of the Buddha Shakyamuni. Visit the library and see the collection of rare scriptures and manuscripts. Take a walk around the monastery grounds and enjoy the stunning views. Attend one of the monastery's daily prayers or ceremonies. Talk to the monks and learn more about Buddhism. Overall, Durpin Monastery is a wonderful place to visit. It is a peaceful and beautiful place, with a rich history and culture. The monks are very welcoming and friendly, and visitors are welcome to learn more about Buddhism.

Beautiful monastery situated at the top of Durpin Dara in Kalimpong. It is the second highest view point in Kalimpong, passes through the Army Cantonment and provides some lovely views. The Durpin monastery is very old and very rich in Buddhist heritage and culture. Cuerently due to Covid 19, the monastery is closed for tourists.

The monastery holds in its reliquary 108 volumes of the Kangyur, as well as other holy books and scrolls that were moved out of Tibet after the Chinese invasion. This place is uniquely spiritual and one can attain mental peace by simply walking around this magnificent structure. On top of the hill sits the Zang Dhok Palri Monastery which was consecrated by the Dalai Lama in 1976.

After a climb of 1 hour from the main Kalimpong market. Finally reaching till the monastery felt like an accomplishment. It was so peaceful to be there. The prayer room was open too. Couldn’t visit the 1st floor though.

Durpin monastery is one of the serene and calm place in entire Kalimpong. Once you enter the premises you will feel the divinity. It is situated a bit away (5-6km) from kalimpong town but the view and cold breeze will justify the journey. The road is bit steep at places but not too much for a nature lover.

The most amazing aspect of the Durpin Monastery is that it is situated at the zenith of the Durpin Dara hill. The monastery is extremely beautiful with intricate painting & artistry lining the walls. It is also known as Zang Dhok Palri Monastery. It is home to rare Buddhist manuscripts on Tibetology that were presented by his holiness Dalai Lama in 1956. It offers excellent view of Kalimpong and the Army golf course.

(Translated by Google) Dupin Abbey Also known as Zang Dhok Palri Monastery, it is located on Durpin Dara Mountain. When you enter the monastery, the first thing you will notice is the two large prayer wheels on both sides, and like most Buddhist monasteries, on the wall you will see a row of prayer wheels. Durpin Abbey was built by Hon in 1972.

If you arre planning to visit Kalimpong, you must visit Durpindara Monestry. It is situated near Morgan House within army area. Picturesque place, calm, quiet and beautiful. Attached to it there is a ground which provides you nice view of river, towns down below. You will get shared cab from kalimpong taxi stand to Deep Chowk @Rs. 20 then you can trek to Durpeen Dara Monestry. And if you are staying at Morgan House then you can trek from there itself.

It's a must visit if you're going to Kalimpong. Popularly called as Durpin Monastery, it is one of the largest monasteries in Kalimpong and among the well-known Buddhist monasteries in West Bengal. The Zang Dhok Palri Monastery was established in 1970 by Dudjum Rinpoche and was consecrated by His Holiness Dalai Lama six years later.

The place is located near the army cantonment. The route goes through the cantt area. The monastery had been shut when we visited in Nov 2021 since March 2020 due to covid restrictions. Still it's nice to see from outside and has a good view of Kalimpong. There is a small canteen near the parking space where they serve tea and snacks

It's a quaint place on top of a hill inside the military area in Kalimpong. When I visited this place the young lamas were reciting texts and it had a real holy atmosphere. The view from the courtyard is awesome ...

Even though we missed the opening time for the temple itself, just visiting the grounds and the stupas was a wonderful experience. The day was covered in mist, so the views were limited; one of the pitfalls of visiting in the off season. Nevertheless a must do.
