Great food at a great spot. Has to have one of the best pub views in New Zealand.Good local beer in proper pints as well. Had the fish of the day and pork belly and both were great. Do have to watch for scavenger seagulls tho.

Beautiful view, recommend come here for a drink but not food. Pumpkin soup was chicken salt salty, half filled bowl, came with no homemade bread as per the menu until I asked. Tasted very much like the powdered soup satchels. Chicken parmi, bacon and chips. Bacon nicely done, chicken was stiff, some chips were nice, some undercooked. Haven’t tried the others, so can’t say for other food. Staff was open to receiving the reviews though, service not bad.

We saw something that rated this as one of the top places in Kaikōura but sad to report this restaurant was pretty bad. Fish was rubbery, vegetarian dish came with a sauce with a weird taste and the service was dreadful. Dessert was decent but not worth going for. 15% holiday surcharge that was not mentioned anywhere up front.

Went to the Pier for dinner, hoping for good beer and fresh fish. The beer was excellent but the fish meal was overpriced and barely edible. It looked like it had been in the fridge for several days and the ‘cheese sauce’ was bright yellow and almost solid. The only redeeming part of the meal was dessert, which was actually quite nice.

Had dinner at the restaurant. Was recommended by our airbnb host to make dinner reservations. We went on a weekday night and it was not too crowded. Ordered seafood chowder, crayfish, mussels and their apple and pear crumble. Seafood chowder was excellent, full of chunky quality seafood, especially love the bits of fish in it. Crayfish was fresh but the fries that came along with it was little and overfried. Mussels was fine, it was served with a pink sauce, I personally prefer white wine sauce type. Apple and pear crumble was a nice finishing though alittle too much for my little family to finish. Overall, we enjoyed the food. Service was ok. If seated outdoor (which has really nice views and fun little playground for the kids), do guard your food and leftovers at all times until someone clears them. No joke, the seagulls will attack your food in less than 3 seconds.

Seafood platter was overpriced for the small amount. The chips were cold! The beer was good & Service was very good though and can’t fault the beautiful Location.

Dined here on the 03/09/23 Beautiful setting! Walked in solely to order lobster in shell but was sold out by the time we got there. Bookings required so make sure to call in advance. The lovely lady that served us that night was able to squeeze us in. Soups were delicious and loved the bread worked really well with the Tomato soup and the Lobster chowder. The pavlova was DEVINE!
