great hotel. if your stay on the ground floor you will not regret it. immediate access to everything out front. totally airy space right in front of the ocean. a large pool is seated right next to the ocean and there is a restaurant in the middle of the pool. the staff was very kind and considerate. nothing too notable but incredible people. a bit pricy but very worth it. the view was superb being just over the ocean and with mountains the the back this is a perfect location for a hotel. 9/10 hotel, totally recommend if you have the money. I also recommend going to the luau. great food and the entertainment was brilliant.

This is a beautiful property but there are parts that are somewhat outdated. The beach is public but wasn’t that crowded. I wouldn’t recommend letting young children swim in the ocean in this area as it’s a sharp drop off and has a strong current. You need to go early to reserve a good spot on the shaded lounge chairs. You can rent varying types of cabanas but reserve early if you want an ocean view instead of being around the pool. There are restaurants onsite but the hotel has a walkway along the beach that will take you to the village which has a lot of dining options. This hotel has a luau on select days. Overall a nice hotel if you are looking for a combination of a good location, walking distance to restaurants and shopping. I stayed here a week and spent half the time driving around the island; this is not a central location for driving but the island isn’t huge so it’s very doable to drive to further places like Hana and back the same day.

This was the most beautiful resort I have ever been blessed enough to stay in. The views are breathtaking through out the entire resort. We had an ocean front room with snorkeling right outside our door. Everywhere you go on the premises you feel like your in a tropical paradise. The room was quaint with a comfortable bed and perfect size balcony for two with beautiful views. I never thought I would utilize a pool while at a hotel, but this is not just any ordinary pool. The lazy river is amazing, with different areas and waterfalls, and there are 2 bars right next to it for drinks and food. The staff was courteous and professional. We snorkeled right at the resort and swam with sea turtles while exploring the coral reef. The best way to enjoy your stay on the premises and to feel like you are really on a Hawaiian vacation is to rent a casabella. You don't have to deal with the sand, their extremely comfortable, and you can choose a view of the ocean right in front of you with Bar side service. A little pricey but well worth it. Whalers Village was just a couple hotels over and it had Shops, restaurants, and the ABC Store for some grocery needs and souvenirs.. I could go on and on about the beauty of this resort and its amenities, including a phenomenal couples massage at the Black Rock Spa. This was the most beautiful and best vacation EVER. We will definitely be back!

Service here is awesome! Rooms are a bit small but clean and well stocked. Breakfast was great and served in a really nice atmosphere. Depending on where your room is getting there may be fun if you like puzzle challenges We needed 3 elevators to get to ours...lol. but the bell hops WILL take care of the heavy lifting.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel to stay. My wife and I took our 10-year reunion/honeymoon here. The views are phenomenal. The beach is just off the property. They also have a pool/lazy river. They do have a hot tub, but it's fairly small for the number of people that were staying there.

Wife and I just got back from Maui and stayed seven days at Sheraton Kaanapali Beach. Great hotel. Staff was great, housekeeping attended our room everyday (made bed, fresh towels - all we needed). Front desk, restaurants, bar staff all great. Although this hotel is probably the one of the oldest properties in this area it looks very nice. Not quite as done up as say the Westin or Marriott Ocean club pool areas down the beach but very nice. But, actually the openness of the grass and pool areas makes for nice views. I highly recommend the snorkeling. Saw two turtles and a lot of very colorful fish around black rock. Beach area by Sheraton is probably top two in Maui for beach size, water color, and lack of lava rocks on beach/water floor. Great place, all good!

It’s unfortunate that the hotel doesn’t seem to care much for loyal lifetime elite guests. No room upgrade even though there was plenty of availability. They limit the breakfast benefit to 2 continental breakfasts which isn’t much regardless of how many people are in your room. The buffet looked like your typical low range hotel breakfast. The rooms were clean and decent sized. The location is why you stay here, great snorkeling near the black rock. If you are a bonvoy elite guest, I’d suggest staying somewhere else like the Westin a 5 minute walk away.

We were a little worried about our stay at the Sheraton Maui due to mixed reviews online, but we had an amazing time. The resort and grounds were beautiful. Our room was clean and had no bug issues (we were also on the 4th floor so maybe that helped). We took advantage of the pool, fitness center, free yoga and more. We reserved cabanas for two days and had a great experience. We were incredibly sad when it was time to leave at the end of our stay. We stayed at several different resorts during our 1 week in Maui and 1 week in Kauai and this was by far our favorite place to stay. We would come back again no questions!

I am going to write a long review because vacationing is expensive and I use these reviews to help research when I'm planning. I loved this resort. The staff is on top of it and very friendly. The pool is very clean and beautiful. You cannot beat the location of this property for several reasons. The first being it is very safe and you have to have a wrist band on at all times and the staff checks it. If you do not have one on you will be escorted out of the pool area. Secondly, the pool is right on the beach. The cove the property is in is calm and perfect for kids to swim safely and to snorkel. The property is protected from rough waters. The food and drinks are great and there are lots of stores on the property so if you don't want to leave you don't have to. If you call the front desk they will provide you with whatever you need quickly and a smile. I would definitely stay here again. You don't have to rent or buy anything for the ocean and sand. It is available near the pool at a stand. I do not think the rooms are worth the money but who stays in the room in Maui? The rooms are not horrible and the beds are comfortable but if I owned the hotel I would gut and modernize all of the rooms because of the price of them. You are definitely paying for the location. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained and modernized but the rooms need to be updated. I still would spend my money here and this is my review. I want to add that they literally scrub the rooms every day and not just vacuum and make the beds your entire stay. That stood out to me.

Once I learned it was under the Marriott umbrella I was disappointed. They checked us into a room that hadn't been totally cleaned...in my opinion Marriott's housekeeping has slipped over the years at properties in which. We went to have supper and we learned they changed us to another room despite the fact we asked them to wait until we returned. They moved our luggage to the new room but didn't bother to move some stuff we put in the refrigerator in the old room. When I called the front desk three times to find out what happened to the stuff in the frig they said nothing was there. I finally went to the front desk the day before we left and was advised our stuff was thrown away. We received a room credit, but why couldn't they have been more honest with us to begin with? The rooms are dated and need updating. The rooms never seem to be clean and the carpets are worn. I wouldn't plan to stay here again.

We love it here so much! I took my kids here for 5 days over Labor Day weekend in 2022, and we had never been to Maui. We fell in love with the hotel and the island. The room was great and so was the staff. The kids loved the pool, the game room, and the giant chess board. They also have a luau at the hotel and free activities on certain days. They have a parking garage, but they charge a daily fee. There was a cliff diving show every night off of Black Rock. That was cool. They also had live music down by the pool every evening.

Amazing resort. Great staff. Black Rock Beach is amazing. But no access from hotel groups for tourists. You must park at the beach access path and park to get there. Best sunset views.
