Great Cretan food! My first time to try it and I love it! Escargot is a must try, although everything we tried we had was to our liking! From appetizer, salad, main and desserts we enjoyed thoroughly. Don’t be fooled by the humble exterior of this restaurant because inside is fancy looking! Great service too.

Great food, some portions were a bit small for a bigger group. The staff was professional and friendly overall very accommodating. Unfortunately there are zero vegetarian options on the main meals, only very few appetizers. Having a big group with some dietary restrictions makes it very hard to choose the restaurant again even though we really enjoyed it

We have visited this restaurant yesterday and it's totally recommended for the following reasons: Located near to the center of Athens and close to the Evangelismos metro station, great traditional Greek food, friendly stuff, well decorated place and clean.

We visited the restaurant for the first time with friends from abroad, having lived in Crete for 4 years my expectations were very high, but unfortunately the food and the service did not meet them at all. We had a reservation at 7 pm on a Saturday night and the restaurant was almost empty. The staff was friendly and offered us a welcome drink (tsikoudia) and some dipping sauces. We ordered 4 starters, a salad and 5 mains. For whoever has tasted the Cretan cuisine in Crete, the food in "Kaplani" tastes nothing like it. The quality of the ingredients was good but the "ntakos" salad was tragically lacking tomato. Around 8.20 pm, after a long wait, and while the waiters were avoiding making eye contact with us, I managed to ask what had happened to our main dishes, and if we'd have to wait longer. They replied that we would have them in 2 mins and that was the case, we got them after almost 1.30 hours waiting, while the restaurant was almost emply! Unacceptable! The main dishes were an "Ofto" lamb, a "Wedding rice", and 3 portions of "Spaghetti with chicken" (Skioufichta). The "spaghetti" (not a real spaghetti-just a bad translation on the english menu, it is a different type of pasta) was such an unbelievably underwhelming dish that none of us could finish it. All of the vegetables were raw and tasteless and on top of that it was already served with dried anthotyro that has only a plain taste. When the waitress asked us if we liked the food, I explained that we did not like it and she only relied that this is a special dish and some people like it and others don't. Would not reccomend this restaurant to anyone!

Was the food great? Indeed. Cretan flavors, nice fresh salad, very very decent food. The place looks good, and the customer service is great. At the same time, I think it is a bit pricey! I understand that the prices are increasing everywhere but I believe they should focus more on the price policy in order to make it more affordable to many people. Do they really need it? I am not sure since they are busy most of the times.

The food the staff absolutely amazing. I really liked not liked loved the cinnamon ice cream for dessert, if you've never had it you've got to go there and try it. This was my 2nd visit to this restaurant in a year as I live outside the country but I will definitely be back next year not sooner

You dont get the food advertised on the menu. Also they bring "gifts" to the table, for which they charge you at the end. Otherwise the food is okay. In reply to the restaurant: We had a charge of 3.40 on the receipt which we translated to be bread. There two portions calculated. We never ordered the bread or dips yet we got charged for it. Also the chickpeas were missing from the chickpea rice from the seabass dish.

Good quality Greek food in a pleasant environment. I very much enjoyed the cinnamon ice cream and the cretan music.

Interesting restaurant in this area, traditional cretan food, really friendly stuff. I can't say I enjoyed the starters as I did the main course. The starters could have been a bit more intense in freshness and flavour. You can definitely find some better ones elsewhere as cretan food is really common all over Greece. What you can't find easily are the exceptional main courses 👍👏😉!

A nice place to go for a meal outside the noise of the center. Recommended if you look for a place for all the family. You'd maybe like to try the local grape distilled tsipouro.

Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting To Kaplani, a restaurant that provided an excellent experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by friendly and attentive staff who provided us with fast service. The cozy ambiance of the restaurant made us feel right at home and the great value for money was a pleasant surprise. The food was the highlight of our experience. The Cretan cuisine was all handmade with love, and it was clear that the chefs had put a lot of effort into making each dish. We thoroughly enjoyed every bite and were left feeling completely satisfied. We don't have anything negative to say about our experience at To Kaplani. The service, atmosphere, and food were all top-notch, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a welcoming environment. Our overall satisfaction was off the charts!

Fabulous! The staff were friendly, engaging and informative in a setting fit for the high standard of food. Beef cheeks on mash are to die for. We had a 2018 Orthi Petra Cabernet for only €29 which topped of a great night.

Man I'm so happy I discovered this place! It was recommended by a friend, and I will do the same for my friends. Whatever you do, make sure you have time to enjoy, meet the owner, share stories, and drink lots of the house Raki. This is what dinner out should be!

This restaurant was delicious! Staff as super friendly and food was really good quality. It was both outdoor and indoor seating. I highly recommend the lamb sausages, aubergine warm starter and the slow cooked beef cheeks.

A hospitable restaurant. Good food in reasonable prices. The waiters and the manager were obliging, with suggestions based on our requirements. I would definitely recommend it for an evening dinner near the city centre.

This is a toned down version of Cretan food, with some tasty dishes which overall leave you with an average sense of satisfaction. Nothing fancy, nothing that really stands out. Service is friendly, place is clean and nicely decorated. What I found unacceptable is the way tables are laid out very close to each other, and especially the intolerable smoke - the smoking and non smoking sections are literally in one space with no separation otgrr than one step down! Result? Overcrowded, average smoky restaurant

Everything we ordered was really good. Especially the Snails are highly recommended! Friendly staff and a nice restaurant design comes on top.

It was a nice, friendly restaurant with attentive service. Food portions were decent without being overwhelming and the food tasted very nice indeed. Most dishes were traditional Cretan. Very meat based: lamb, beef, chicken and rabbit. The staff explained what things were really well and they seemed to handle everything calmly and with a smile. The house white wine was pretty crisp and tasty. I'd definitely recommend this if you're looking for a reasonably priced but quite sophisticated dinner.

Nice environment, staff is really helpful, the restaurant is taking all the necessary covid-related measures and the food was delicious. Also prices were really ok. I will eat at this place again for sure.
