Extremely stunning place, really almost like Swizerland, with the plus of volcanic landscape and lovely lake and patches of snow even in summer! The hot spring has amazing waters, you instantly become smooth like marble. The rooms are shared but there are curtains in between for privacy and you have your own electric socket and small lamp. The dorms have 6 beds, 3 up 3 down. Bring own towel, they have shampoo. The dinner included in your room price is EXTREMELY DELICIOUS and very high class, never expected such gourmet stuff from a Mountain Hut without easy access. Breakfast also very nice and varied. The Ramen we purchased there for lunch with shrimp and pork meat was truly impressive, rich and delicious. All staff were wonderful and helpful. You can easily stroll around and enjoy the amazing views in all directions. This place is always beautiful in any season! Can't wait to go again and enjoy it in a different color!!

The staff are friendly, the location is at the centre of the tourist spot (however, you will need to walk around 15 minutes to reach it, and walk through many stairs. Bulky luggage are not recommended). You will be able to see the sunrise with the whole stretch of mountain at morning, and see beautiful sunset at the other side if the weather are clear enough. I am lucky enough to see their local bird, Raichoo at the Mikurigaike Lake nearby at the last day when leaving. (morning)

We didn't stay or use their Onsen but it's a great location for day hikers to grab food and drinks. Loved the berry soft serve ice cream on a hot day. Nice seating outside on the deck with an awesome mountain view. The staff is friendly and speaks good English. There are some Montbell merchandise with a local selection of shirts which I'm not sure is available in the usual Montbell shops elsewhere.

Japanese Onsen at a perfect location on the Japanese alpine route. Japanese dinner and breakfast were excellent. Staff were accommodating to our child. The area around the Onsen’s is perfect for mountain hiking with fantastic views and bird viewing.

Highest altitude hot spring in Japan. Soul warming water. Perfect after a hike in the cold outdoors. Restaurant also has some nice snacks. Get a seat next to the window for meal with a view. Also possible to stay here overnight.

Highest onsen in Japan (altitude 2,410 meters), you get a free coaster as a souvenir. Stopped for the onsen and a meal, great after a long walk around to calm the leg muscles. Excellent view from the onsen which we had for ourselves luckily and the meal was very filling.

This is likely one of the finest hotels in Murodo, and the onsen was a great experience. The food was actually also quite good considering you are on top of a mountain, though be prepared that prices are high. The downside for me was a very thin and uncomfortable futon (in the shared dormitory) which made sleeping pretty difficult. I managed to rearrange blankets for a bit of extra comfort but it was a pain. Still, it is what it is and if I were in Tateyama again is choose to stay here.

Wonderful location and the food is fantastic! After climbing Mount tate it was heaven to relax in the onsen afterwards. It's difficult to book as a foreigner, have a hotel or hostel worker call them for you!

Nice little cafe located on the ground floor, great place to shelter and have a drink and snack to recharge. The Blueberry juice is really good! Plus when the weather is clear you get a great view!

Excellent location. Cloudy hot spring water bath. Bring own bath and hand towels otherwise rent them 150 yen each. Optionally rental Yukata is 150 yen.

Simple indoor onsen with great views and mineralized water, but a little pricey (1000¥). Tattoos not allowed.

Extremely nice and helpful staff. They gave calls for us even though we were not staying overnight or using the onsen… thanks again

Very helpful staff, tasty dinner and very nice snacks (pizza with beer and toasts). We had a private room with 2 comfortable single beds for additional ~8k JPY - totally worth it. There are 2 tubs in the onsen- one was too hot to enter, but the other one was just perfect. We departed early and switched our breakfast to bento that included few types of tasty breads, sausage, mochi and aquarius.
