It’s a multipurpose Customa: you can stay overnight in a capsule room, spend the day or a few hours in a private room, take a bath in the public bath, or hang out in their cafe/relaxation area. I rented a private room for 6 hours. It was about ¥2200 for the weekend price. Pros: - well-stocked bathroom and cleaner than the Customa in Yoyogi - not as crowded as I thought it would be - there is a 7/11 with an entrance directly from the lobby Cons: - no free drinks - the set-up is uncomfortable for working online. I got the sunken seat type of room, and the desk space was so far away from the seat - narrow hallway, but it can’t be helped

For who are first for Customa cafe, It has 6 types of room. And Grancustoma has 1 more type: capsule. I used full flat type with 24h day pack. Rooms are same as all customa stores are, small but I'm sure it gives you more 'room' than dormitory or capsules. You can pack a baggage at your private place, change your clothes, eat food, get ease whenever you want. Room temperature too. Except you would sleep with blanket that you must ask to staff to get and firm matresses. Staffs were really good. All of them were super kind, made me believe there was omotenashi in net cafe. Auxillary facilities are amazing. There's free public bath on main building B1F if you use day pack. You can use reliner, and comic at 2F. There's no hazzle process to go out. They made corridoor to seven-eleven so you can pick up some snacks easily. It was great. You should walk 8 minutes to both station, Ueno and Okachimachi. It was unique and pleasant experience. Staffs were amazing.

This is a complicated review because I can genuinely say that it's quite a nice place. I'll add beforehand that my review pertains to the workspace (desk only) and not the rooms or other services. I'll start with the good: The place is quiet, clean, and has great service. However, it's expensive and really lacks a sort of vibe one gets at an internet cafe. A huge drawback is the fact that you only get one drink (in all internet cafes I've been to, there is an unlimited drink bar included in the price). Frankly, if your hotel has a nice lobby, it's better to spend your time there and just grab some drinks from a 7/11. I didn't see any manga, either, but maybe it's just not the deal here. Overall, an ok work environment which costs a little over 1200 yen for three hours. Go for the tsubasa cafe, 4 minutes from there. For the same price, you can sit there till morning and get something a little more fancy to drink or eat.

Pros: Private rooms better than capsule, can put luggage inside room. Clean, new, great service, great attitude as long as you don't break rules. Good price 4950 yen for 24 hours. Includes comic books, Japanese sauna, all u can eat curry and rice, free drink, PC in room. The largest room is called loft and has both TV and computer, twice the size of regular rooms. Con: PC often doesn't work, contacted staff 3+ times and it continuously gave error in Japanese, I gave up using the room PC and used my mobile phone instead. Rooms close to elevator is loud with constant elevator sound, hand dryer sound is very loud that the whole floor will hear it. Earplugs are sold at lobby. Loft room is twice the size of regular rooms, separated into two floors, downstairs has desk and computer, upstairs has a bed. Gran Customa has a very small amount of loft rooms, and they won't let you continuously book it for more than 1 night, they will tell you to book a smaller room afterwards. The Loft room is used as an attraction rather than be used regularly, staff said they wanted various customers to use the room so people have to get rotated out. Loft room isn't very good anyway, climbing up to bed is dangerous, room light is downstairs so use your phone light to see in the dark when climbing up.

Great place!! Can’t beat it for the price. Capsule is fairly spacious and well designed. Bath area clean and towels provided. Free good curry made in house. Big manga library with massage chairs. 10/10 will stay again!

The location is just perfect, very close to ueno station and ameyayokocho. The relaxation floor is quite comfortable. The capsules are fine, clean, dark and quiet. The common areas (like bathrooms and elevator, which are pretty small) can be cleaner. At the front desk, when I checked in the staff explained me the floor map "because there was no English translation" (although there was...) but they didn't mention that every time you go out you have to get a ticket from them that you have to show when you come back. Tattoos are not allowed in the hot bath, the problem is that they don't mention it in the website.

Easy to find good to sleep in for cheap you arrived late at night, it was surprisingly comfortable, remember to take a free blanket at the start of your floor and if you stay over x hours (I think it was 6) you can take a shower for free, can also do your laundry there for 200 Yen and there is a small buffet on the second floor.

I have tried different overnight cafes, and Gran Customa brand hits all the boxes: All You Can Eat Curry All You Can Bath (Spa/Shower) Lounge Access (Good Wi-Fi) A must visit/try when you need to spend the night or just relax, very satisfied with the stays I’ve experienced so far, thank you Gran Customa 🙏

I would definitely recommend this capsule hotel for a night or two. It is a very interesting experience and offers more privacy than most hostels. The location is awesome; it’s really close to three different metro station, one of which Keisei-Ueno where the Skyliner from Narita ends. Very convenient. There are tons of restaurants and massage places on the same street for sore feet after a long day of touring. A couple downsides: the capsule is not at all comfortable. This is why I recommend for only a couple nights. I need a chiropractor after 5 days! Ouch. Also you have to leave your suitcase with the front desk. I was able to keep all my clothes in the locker for the 5 days so it wasn’t that a big deal, just a little inconvenient.

Great facilities! You can access to minimart shop right away. So much convenient! The only bad things are the locker room. It was very annoying that you have to use the key every time you get in, and the noise from closing the door can wake you up anytime. Although I'm not a light sleeper, I still wake up from time to time due to noise that people make. And the capsule is quite old and small. However, I still recommend this place to budget traveller.

Walking distance from ueno station with plenty of food options. Which isn't really necessary as they serve a free flow of rice and curry. Stayed a night and found the capsule noise insulation superior. Only downsides is it can get a bit warm. You get a lounge wear upon checking in for the night in my case. A locker will be assigned if you stay in the capsule to store your belongings.

Amazing value and location for budget travelers if your expectations are right. Perfect if you need a place to crash but earplugs or headphones are a requirement. Short walk from Ueno Station. Loft room is good if you need to work in a chair but otherwise a regular flat room is generously wide to sleep in. Two separate buildings but both are part of the same location. There’s a different location up the street as well. Left building has showers on 2F and the onsen, lounge and food are in the right building. There’s a 7-11 attached in the back. One free drink with your stay. There are longer term lockers across the street.

very very convenient location. close to multiple stations. has its own entrance to 7-11. also beside kuroneko yamato for takkyubin services. cheap but fulfilling breakfast and dinner buffet. nice 2nd floor lounge. but very very small locker. you have to strategize what you put in your locker and how you put it. i almost repacked my baggage every night it was kinda tiring. you have to leave your "room" key at the reception every time you go out. big baggages are kept at the lobby

Definitely my worst experience at a capsule hotel in my years of travelling to Japan. The sleeping space was dirty. There was a lot of hair everywhere around the futon. The staff's attitude was horrible and I was treated like a pest than a guest.

absolute heaven on my layover. Wonderful mineral spirits spa threw me back to 10 years younger, the quality of lotions were out of this world, this is my new fav Tokyo hideaway. There is a breakfast and dinner buffet, looked yummy but I skipped both and went back to the spa. Don't be fooled by the poor reviews and the capsule pics, you can easily upgrade to much classier private accommodations, and epic location for shopping and gifts to bring home. Best hidden-gem layover spot Worldwide

We used this great hotel as a stop over between Haneda airport and Narita airport. We had 12 hours between the flights so we went here and got a room which we rented for 6 hours. Absolutely fantastic service. There was breakfast buffet for 500yen per person, a huge comic section which my son enjoyed. And best of all a really nice public bath with onsen style hot bath. There is even a 7-11 connected and you are allowed to just bring in food and drinks and enjoy in the public area. We were able to get some sleep, bath, enjoy some relaxing time!!

Had a nice time here sleeping in the capsule pod. My pod even had a TV. We were also given complimentary iPads for use with free Wi-Fi. The location of this place is great as the street comes alive in the evening with lot of laughter and enthusiasm as guests occupy so many eateries in the street. The place is clean, staff is helpful. But there is no locked place to store your luggage. We had to keep our suitcases near the reception area which the staff covered with a net and secured it. You cannot take your luggage inside the capsule hall area where you will sleep. A 7eleven shop is there in the basement area of the hotel from where we bought stuff to eat. We had dinner outside.

First capsule experience here and I enjoyed it so much. Especially loved the common area on the second level. So spacious and well-equipped. Most importantly, it was very clean too. Loved it!

My booked room wasn't available and I had to get a more expensive room suited for two people. Since I had booked in advance, I assumed the upgrade would be free, but it wasn't. Other than that, great place, nice staff and relaxation areas.

I was looking for a place to shower, eat , and relax after a morning run, and I originally walked into Customa Cafe Ueno. But the front desk staff there suggested that I try Grancustoma Ueno on the same block and gave me a discount coupon, so I ended up in here. This place has a small public spa (温泉) that includes jacuzzi and sauna, as well as separate simple private shower rooms. There is also an all-you-can-eat curry bar with a few free basic drink items (water, barley tea, green tea, I can't remember if there was black tea or coffee). I rented a private room, but their (small) open lounge had fully reclining relaxation chairs, and they looked very comfortable as I saw quite a few people sleeping there. It is true that the private room I rented had a slight smell of cigarette, but perhaps it was my fault that I did not specifically ask for a non-smoking room (there was an ash tray on the desk) or perhaps their fault for not asking me what I preferred. Nevertheless, the smell did not bother me (even though I do hate cigarette smells), and I had no problem taking my morning nap in their "flat" room. Overall, I thought the amenities and services were quite impressive for an internet cafe, and with the 200 yen discount I paid something like only 1300 yen for 3 hours. I think they deserve a five-star rating, and they are getting it from me.
