This could, and should have been a prime tourist attraction of Kampala. If only they had developed it into one. The lake itself is pretty. The surroundings are not. A nicely paved pedestrian trail around the lake, some restaurants and some boats for hire could have turned the Kabaka's Lake into a hotspot and an iconic feature of Kampala. Sadly, there is little more than muddy dirt roads, decrepit old buildings and abandoned ramshackle vehicles there today. Also, cleaning up the shores of the lake wouldn't hurt..

I love this lake because it's the largest man made lake in Uganda. It was constructed on the orders of King Mwanga of Buganda and this makes it a historical place to the people of Buganda. It's one of the tourist attractions in Uganda that need to be renovated but this doesn't stop me from giving the place five stars.

Good live scene view, with cool breeze during hot days, brushed with a few artificial and natural trees, cattle egrets birding at the northend of the lake

A beautiful art piece of man, soothing interaction with nature (bird watching) and ambience an inch away from your feet.

Not good for swimming, too muddy. A lot of little egrets here, saw the yellow billed stock too and weaver birds more water birds can be seen. You can talked a walk around the lake and seating by the lake you pay 500 Uganda shillings as money for keeping the place clean. There is a canoe you pay less than a dollar to ride you around.

This place is good, but the lake needs some more conservation, as on our visit, we found a lot of plastics and bottles, yet there is fish, a lot of birds and many others. This doesn't favors the wildlife here and people living around may end up facing diseases.

Nice place but the lake water is dirty with sewage. The community needs to be trained to keep the lake clean and it will be a million solar spot for people in Kampala needing a place to relax.

Given the fact the this lake was dug using hands is a beautiful story in it self.... given the right development it has the potential of becoming a tourist center in the region...I liked it

It is dirty and just small lake for free. Not reasonable reataurants and cafe nearby. You just pass there there! But as far as i hear, it has story about buganda kingdom.

(Translated by Google) okay. the story behind it is interesting, the lake itself is small and unspectacular. (Original) in Ordnung. die Geschichte dahinter ist interessant, der See an sich klein und unspektakulΓ€r.
