πŸ‘πŸ‘ Cool way to spend the weekend! When a friend visited from Cape Town he wanted to do a tour within Kampala. Red Dirt was recommended to him. We met our guide at 8 am for the short boat ride across Lake Victoria from Ggaba to Bole / Mukono. He organised the boat rides, kept us safe and ordered the all... Fun mountain bike tour of lake Victoria. Thies is a very friendly guide who joked around with us the whole day and was very patient for some of the other group members who were slower than others. After renting a bike and helmet, we took a boat to another side of the lake and biked about 22km for the beginner route. I never mountain biked before so the trip was enough to kick my butt! The views of the lake were amazing and we stopped a little more than halfway for drinks and snacks. Bring plenty of water and a light snack to keep your blood sugar up. Wear shoes/clothes that you can get muddy.

We met our guide at 8 am for the short boat ride across Lake Victoria from Ggaba to Bole / Mukono. He organised the boat rides, kept us safe and ordered the all-important rolex. Take your bike - or Red Dirt can lend you one - for a 20+ km bike ride. I loved the stretch of village trails. You would never think that you are so close to Kampala. If you're looking for a bit of an adventure without having to travel far, I recommend this half day tour. It's a great way to unwind and an ideal way to get a glimpse of rural Ugandan life. I came back feeling super relaxed... (and dusty and sweaty πŸ˜†) Alternatively, if you have your own bike, you can take part in their sister company Bike Shop Uganda's free Sunday bike rides. #ExploreUganda #kampala #cycling #diaryofamuzungu #lakevictoria #reddirtuganda #Africacyclingadventures #dirterrific

Rode a 10 day mountain bike through West Uganda and did the Gorilla tracking. A wonderful experience that I recommend to everyone. I had a very good GIANT bike with a lot of gears. The stay along the way was different and surprising every time. This also applied to the environments. Past villages where (almost) everyone looks at you and waves goodbye, along and through banana plantations (lots of them), through Steppe landscape with many (wild) animals, through the Jungle, up into the mountains and along lakes. So diverse and green and happy people everywhere. I really enjoyed the latter in particular. The tranquility radiates from the locals who walk along the road or work in the fields. What also really struck me was the delicious food everywhere (and the fact that I never had any stomach problems). The guide and driver were also relaxed and helpful. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who loves mountain biking, mountain grills, locals/happy people and green nature!

I have to thank Robin and Francis ( also Thies) for a nice adventure by organizing my Trans Uganda Bikepacking Trip for 7 days going from Kampala to Kapchorwa. Also the GIANT Gravel Bike gave us some problems they were more than helpful to get it fixed again. I hope traveling by Bike in Uganda πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬ will become even more popular. It’s a nice little adventure πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

We had a really good time on the mountain bikes. Francis was very nice to us and also sent me GPX tracks. Unfortunately, the bikes were not in good condition, so we had defects on all four bikes. The next time the bikes are in good condition, there will also be 5 stars! Nevertheless, thank you for the good time!
