A very nice place in Yangon. The central station with circulation train around the city that would be one of the most interesting activities in the capital of Myanmar. The construction is remained for long time but being in good condition in use. It is not so hard to buy ticket for tourists like us, because they have all the guidance sign in each lane.

At the Yangon Central Railway station, there is a great tourist attraction - the circular rail line! It takes some 3.5 - 4 hours, running from this station to different parts of towns/villages and returning to same station. There was much fun, inside the coach, seeing and experiencing like the locals do. The mad rush, the hard seats and then, the many peddlers selling their wares and food stuff, from one stop to the other. And the views, outside the coach are live pictures in motion. Beautiful scenes of countryside, wooden houses, farmlands, cars, roads etc...in sequence. A very memorable trip in this slow moving train.

An old and quite interesting train station. Its the largest railway station in Myanmar but don't expect too much amenities here. While this station needs an upgrade it's still OK and without serious deficiencies. As for the famous and routinely recommended circular train trip, it's not as great experience as many say it is. Yes, it's extremely cheap but you won't see almost anything from the train except of lots of people getting on and off the train. And of course hawkers that turn this train into a slowly moving market. If this is what you want to see then it's fine. Just remember, this is a real mean of transport, not only a tourist attraction. So if you isn't really interested in seeing this part of Yangon's life there's no need to unnecessarily take up space in an already overcrowded train.

Yangon Central Railway Station is a very old building located at Town Center. The city train circular ride is 3 hours but for only 200 Kyat (USD0.13), truly value for money. The train route passes many small suburb area and you can alight on any stop you like. If 3 hours journey is too long, just hop off on any stop and take Grab to go to your preferred destination. It’s indeed a unique experience

The nearest hotel for this station is Hotel G. It is an amazing experience for doing the circular train trip. Interesting architecture outside the building. Inside the building is old and dusty. You can tell the guards to let you in and go onto the railway track for photo taking😎 You can also buy the train ticket at 200kyat for a round trip, which will take 3 hours for the whole tripπŸš‚

Like most colonial buildings in Yangon, this one is architecturally beautiful but is visibly rundown and unkempt. Ticketing is pretty straightforward but signs and announcements are inadequate. There aren't plenty of food options so bring your own provisions.

Ride the Circle train here. Buy tickets on platform 7. It is currently closed partway for track works so you can only go one way. We got off the train after we felt that we had enough and caught a taxi back to the city. Still a good adventure and experience

Clearly aging, but nonetheless charming old train station filled with character. It acts as the starting point for the popular circle train. For those taking the circle train, it can be a bit of a pain to find how to get to the platform and purchase your ticket, but workers are reasonably helpful when asking for help. For taking the circle train: - navigate to the easternmost entrance to the train station, enter the station there until you see the tracks, and look for the staircase on the easternmost wall which goes over the tracks. It will probably have a sign on it saying "circular train" - walk on the staircase and then over the bridge over the tracks, making sure to follow signs for the circular train - descend onto the middle platform again following the signs - proceed to the ticket booth further west along the platform, it is here where you can purchase a ticket to the circle train. At the time of writing, the fare is 200 Kyats - Ask for where to board the train, and wait to board Some tips: - it is a truly fun and authentic experience for those looking for it, but it is by no means a luxury train, or even "exciting" by most definitions of the word exciting. It is a true cultural experience, and much more about what goes on on-board the train rather than outside the train. The external scenery isn't much to behold, but taking in life for the average Yangonite on-board the train is very special - For the most exciting rides, come in the morning, when the city is waking up - and it isn't extremely hot yet. Yes, on-board the train during the day it can get borderline unbearable at times, try to snag a window seat if you can and open it all the way! - If you are running late for the train like I was, this is Yangon! You can totally run after it and catch it, which although probably dangerous, was a hysterically fun experience.

Worth a visit. A bit run down but still very beautiful architecture. The perimeter outside is a bit sketchy, but still safe. There is a walkway on the second floor that will take you to the downtown.

Riding the train in Myanmar is a must do activity. Love this antiquated train station! Enjoy riding the circle route, hop off anywhere, explore and get lost for awhile, then hop on the next train to continue the adventure.

A Historic Journey Through Yangon Central Station No trip to Yangon is complete without a visit to the iconic Yangon Central Railway Station. This historic transport hub offers a glimpse into Myanmar's colonial past and remains an important part of daily life for locals. Stepping into the vast domed lobby felt like going back in time. The grand British architecture and intricate tilework have been beautifully preserved since the station was built in 1954. I loved admiring the arched colonnades, painted ceiling murals, and giant clocktower from the platforms. Yet the real charm comes from the buzzing energy of passengers, vendors, and trains passing through. Families wait for their journeys on shaded teak benches, monks offer prayers, and the smell of local snacks like chickpea fritters fills the air. I took a circular train ride just to soak up the sights and sounds. Passing crowded outer neighborhoods and rural villages surrounding Yangon provided fascinating views of everyday life. The old diesel locomotives and wooden train cars added to the nostalgic vibe. The station doubles as a social space where people gather to eat, shop, and relax. Browsing the bookstalls on the platforms, I picked up a beautiful vintage map of Myanmar. I even stumbled upon an art gallery exhibiting local paintings. Yangon Central Station encapsulates the spirit, history, and people that make this city so incredible. It's the perfect place to experience the rhythms of daily Burmese culture. I could have spent hours exploring this transportation jewel. For an immersive experience, don't miss taking a train journey from Yangon's spectacular central station.
