Our students from NPU, Japan did 4 days homestay at Heeloya & they gained such a valuable experience. Heeloya has everything that a traditional villages in Sri Lanka used to have. Beautiful people, untouched natural, cultural, historical beauties, large varieties of crops, traditional heathy food, wildlife, self-sufficient lifestyles 💚 But please do visit through Heeloya tourism office established in the village, then only you will contribute to the village & its people as responsible travelers. All the homestay families, tourism committee members did a great job under the guidance of Department of Trade Commerce & Tourism in Kandy. Thank you for everything!

Great but difficult hike if you are going to do the 14km hike which includes " kalu diya pokuna" . Its fully worth if you like to hike and jump into an ice water pond. You forget the whole world when you go there. Villagers are extremely nice and the food they arrange is heavenly. It's the best local food we have tried. Great project to support local. We took over four hours and you can spend the whole day. Great team, would highly recommend. Please take your hiking boots and lots of water..

We stayed with the loveliest of families! They were so sweet and kind to us. The children were adorable and we loved playing with them. The food was sensational and everything was so reasonably priced. If you want a really authentic experience, I’d highly recommend visiting the people of this village.

This is a wonderful place to visit - beautiful views, great hosting with purely rural food and atmosphere. If you are looking for real life experience, not a commercial lie with many convenient facilities you must definitelly visit Heeloya. People there are just amazing and doing their best to make you feel like a family member. We will remember our two days stay forever. Thank you!

It’s a beautiful village rich in history and legends. There is a long route of trekking and you should at least stay 3 days to cover up the whole village. Best attraction for us was the “Kaludiya Pokuna” waterfall. Main meals, tea, snacks and accommodation is provided by villagers (home stays) and also a guide accompanied us through out our journey. Such a refreshing, relaxing and an unique experience for a reasonable price. Call them and make a reservation prior to your visit.
