85 years old hotel in Kandy. I heard this is the first hotel serving Indian vegetarian food. The best thing about this hotel is the 100% vegetarian food. The humble owner and staff are very polite. This place serves good quality South Indian food for a very reasonable price. The hotel doesn't offer pooris etc. But idli, dosas and meals are great. The taste is above average. For Indian food lovers this is one of the best choices in Kandy.

This is the most dirtiest hotel in Kandy I believe. We went there since this is a pure vegetarian hotel and could not eat the food. No taste, no hygiene. Please ask for bottled water, else they will give you water filled in a glass from wash basin. I witnessed a restaurant staff filling the glasses with water from wash basin.

Established in 1939! We visited October/28/2019 Best thing about this place is 100% vegetarian food. Humble owner is helpful as other staff has language problem. Cleanliness is quite compromising but quality and quantity of the food compensate. Simple restaurant, simple furniture and food on banana leaves. Rates are quite less. This place serves good quality South Indian food for a very reasonable price. A particularly attractive feature of this restaurant is that they serve food on banana leaves, rather than on plates (which, by the way, you are expected to put in the bin after finishing your meal). Some may take it to be "unclean" due to the unassuming exterior and simple interior setup. But, I have found it to be a hygienic place that prepares your order on a stove right next to the dining tables in plane view. The types of different food items available may be rather restricted. Finding a parking spot nearby could be problematic. The staff is always nice and helpful. The owner, who is usually seen at the cashier's counter, sometimes comes by and has a friendly chat with you. This place is apparently over 70 years old and is linked to the adjacent Hindu temple (Kovil). It gives the impression of being run as a family business meant for service rather than profit.

Pure north n east vegetarian food ... food was fine... just didn't like the atmosphere

While the stay hotels in kandy have limited or no options for vegetarian, this brahmins hotel comes to your rescue. The owner of the hotel is very friendly and the food here are cooked keeping vegetarians in mind. We survived in kandy because of this hotel. Thanks to the owner of this hotel and the personal attention that he took for us. He also delivers the food if you like. The hotel doesn't offer pooris etc. But idli, dosas and meals are great. The meals are prepared with boiled rice. The masala vadas here were awesome. The quantity is reasonable. But if you are light eater, consider buying just one dosa for two.

Very old hotel. Tasty food. Saw pics where cricketer Kohli, anushka and Ravi Shastri had come. Lip smacking south Indian food. The owner is from Srirangam, Tamil Nadu. Staffs are friendly as well.

Good food, service to slow

Great vegetarian place with Authentic Indian food. They serve food on piece of banana leaf on table which you shall throw away yourself at the end of the meal. Also Make sure you ask Prices before you order because there are no fixed prices here. And if you dont eat spicy food make sure you confirm that what you order is not spicy. Remember to Ask without any green chillis also. Overall authentic food. Experience is worth it. !!! Enjoy

Superb place for a pure vegetarian food. They have chilli parotta which is extremely spicy for spicy lovers. & their portion for the cheapest price is overwhelming. Superb service. Some might not like the atmosphere due to old building structure but trust me they are clean, neat & pure vegetarian. MUST ADD damn their laddu is superb 👏 👌. Must try for sweet lovers. Pure ghee with less sugar & healthy dhal laddu. Mouthwatering & a must try. They run the business old school but damn a vegetarian food store for the cheapest price in town. If you're visiting the kandy town area near the police station i suggest you take your brunch, lunch, dinner at Sri Ganeshananda Brahmins Hotel. You wont regret ❤️
