One of the cleanest lakes I have seen. Well maintained. The pathway is so elegantly crafted here, plus the cool breeze makes this place unforgettable. You can catch the occasional glimpses of fishes and ducks. The nearby market and the clean road adds to it's beauty. A nice view of the hotels etc built on mountains can be seen from this lake. One of the major attraction in Kandy. View of the sunset is just awesome & breathtaking.

I recently visited Kandy Lake, and I must say that it was a wonderful experience. The lake is situated in the heart of Kandy, and it's a beautiful and tranquil oasis in the midst of a bustling city. The lake is surrounded by lush green trees and vegetation, and the water itself is a stunning shade of blue. There are plenty of spots along the shore where you can sit and take in the views, and it's a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to relax and unwind. One of the highlights of my visit was taking a walk around the lake. The path is well-maintained and offers beautiful views of the water and surrounding nature. It's a great way to get some exercise and fresh air while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the lake. Another great feature of Kandy Lake is the nearby Temple of the Tooth Relic. The temple is one of the most important religious sites in Sri Lanka, and it's a must-see destination for anyone visiting Kandy. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Kandy Lake. It's a beautiful and peaceful place that offers a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Whether you're looking for a quiet spot to relax and unwind, or you're interested in exploring the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka, Kandy Lake is definitely worth a visit.

🌳Kandy Lake, also known as Kiri Muhuda or the Sea of Milk, is a truly captivating spot nestled in the heart of Kandy, Sri Lanka. 💑 With its pleasant atmosphere and breathtaking views, it's a must-visit destination for couples seeking romantic moments together. 🌅 Built in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe next to the Temple of the Tooth, the lake has a rich history and has been meticulously maintained over the years. 🦆 It's one of the cleanest and well-preserved lakes you'll come across. While there are benches around the lake for a tranquil pause, be mindful of the abundance of birds in the trees above. They might just decide to share their perspective! 📸 This location is a hotspot for tourists, and the nearby outdoor market offers an array of shopping opportunities for enthusiasts. 🚶‍♂️ A leisurely stroll around the lake takes approximately an hour, and it's a beautiful way to soak in the surroundings. 🐟 While measures are in place to combat water pollution, some signs of eutrophication may still be visible. 🦆 During the day, you can catch glimpses of fishes and ducks going about their business. 🌄 The view of the hotels and structures perched on the surrounding mountains is a sight to behold. 🌇 And as the sun sets, the scenery becomes even more awe-inspiring. Don't miss the chance to take a boat ride and savor the various roadside snacks available. 🚶‍♀️ In Kandy, a trip is incomplete without a relaxing walk around Kandy Lake, and it's an experience you'll cherish. 👍 If you found this review helpful, please mark it as such to encourage more detailed reviews that help others discover and appreciate wonderful places! ✅

Dominating the town is Kandy Lake. A leisurely stroll around it, with a few stops on the lakeside seats, is a pleasant way to spend a few hours, although diesel-spurting buses careening around the southern edge of the lake can mar the peace somewhat. The nicest part to walk along is the area around the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic

It's where people just spend time being relaxed sometimes and where couples meet and where most of the wedding and pre-shoot have done in Kandy town. And for some people, it's the only income source as there are popcorn vendors who sell popcorn to feed fish in the lake.

Beautifully situated in the heat of Kandy! Nice to walk around in the evening especially. Be ware of tons and tons of birds in the trees above who will poop on you, if the path is empty, it’s a sign not to walk there yet! Superb ambience but a little packed and dirty.

Very surprisingly, one of the best things we've done in Sri Lanka was walk halfway around the lake. We walked from the local market to the dance place and then round to No Name Cafe. As we had time we took it slow and saw an abundance of animals. Keep your eyes around the edge of the lake. We saw huge lizards (including one eating a fish), kingfishers up close, big googly-eyed fish, pelicans, turtles, and many other bird species. A real delight.

This lake was built by the last king of Kandy in year 1812. Today it is probably the most beautiful lake in Sri Lanka. A boat ride service is available. Many stories and lengends exist about this lake. One such is the secret underwater tunnel from the kings palace to the picturesque little island in the middle of the lake.

It’s the lake located at the city centre of Kandy. The famous Tooth Relic Temple is located right in front of the lake. Boat ride service available at the lake, but we didn’t do the boat ride. Kandy Lake is an artificial lake built by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1807. The lake, also called Kiri Muhuda or Sea of the Milk, is situated in the heart of the Kandy city. It covers an area of 6,544 sq. m. with a circumference of 3.21 km. The lake boasts of a small island at its center. A building, together with some earliest ruins is also located at the center of the lake. The iconic serene lake is one of the greatest attractions for visitors for its lush green settings and pristine blue waters. It has several rest zones, where tourists can sit, breathe fresh air, and catch the glimpse of scenic beauty around them. Nature lovers and tourists can enjoy the picturesque surroundings and soothe their jittery nerves by taking a stroll around the 2.1 km pathway. People generally stroll or jog the pathway in the evening, when the mercury drops considerably. It presents a beautiful sight at night. The palm trees in the middle of the lake add charm to the entire surroundings. Tourists can opt for boat rides and relish the experience. One can hire the boat either for their party or join other passengers for a ride. The boat ride costs approximately Rs. 1500 to Rs. 2000 for a 20-minute boating experience around the Lake. Visitors can look forward to gratifying their senses, by buying products ranging from balloons to cashew nuts from vendors roaming around the lake. Owing to the pollution and other factors, which led to shrinkage of the lake, the management has declared it as a protected area and banned fishing at this spot. However, animal lovers and ornithologists can revel in watching birds, fishes, and huge monitor lizards. There is no airport in Kandy city. The closest airport to Kandy Lake is the Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), in Colombo. The distance from Kandy Lake to Bandaranaike International Airport is 52.2 miles or 84 km. Visitors can reach Kandy Lake from CMB Airport via train, bus or taxi. One can board a train at Colombo Railway station to get to Kandy Railway Station. It is one of the inexpensive and safest modes of transport in Sri Lanka. The cheapest type of travel from Bandaranaike International Airport to Kandy Lake is the public bus transport. The 3.5 hr ride costs around 170 LKR (Rs. 66.58) per person. Though expensive, the hired taxis or air-conditioned tourist cars provide visitors a comfortable and fastest ride to Kandy Lake from CMB Airport. The most suitable time to visit Kandy Lake is in the winter season from December to April. The weather during winters here will be dry and pleasant. It will be perfect for sightseeing and trekking. Kandy experiences 2 monsoons, Yala and Maha, between May to July and from October to November respectively. The climate during these seasons remains fickle and humid. Though it remains unsuitable for visiting many of the places, one advantage of this season is the absence of crowds. The April month in Sri Lanka witnesses’ huge crowds as Sinhalese New Year falls in the middle of the April month.

It’s the lake located at the city centre of Kandy. The famous Tooth Relic Temple is located right in front of the lake. Boat ride service available at the lake, but we didn’t do the boat ride. To us, it is like any other lake located in the city and it’s nothing special to us. Good for evening walk to relaxation, The wildlife was incredible! Multiple monkey troops, big water monitor lizards, lots of different exotic birds and a huge abundance of fish. We loved our walk around! Also gave us some decent views too!

Most of know it as the "Kandy Lake" though its real name is "Kiri Muhuda. " Surrounded by the green, the kandy lake is the best place if you want to have a morning walk in this big city. They have set up bunks around the lake round so you can relax relax while watching the birds and the ripples of the lake. You can complete an entire round around the lake by walk and let's not forget the "Joy boat ride" if you are interested in going on a boat ride in the kandy lake!

(Translated by Google) Kirimudha Wewa Circle d Kandy Lake What a beautiful place to be ... Kirimudha or Nuwara Wewa is a familiar place we all know. As I write this article, I have walked around this lake circle a lot. From the sources, I am briefly writing .. History of Kirimuda: The king of Senkadagala was .. Sri Vikrama Rajasinghe, the whale of a whale watching in the open air of the Temple of the Tooth King Wickrema Rajasinha, a king who gave priority to animal kindness, built a dwelling near the palace premises with the help of the Rajapaksas, not only to provide food and drink but also to provide a place for the tortoise to live. For nearly a year, the tortoise lived comfortably, with love and grace. In the meantime, King Rajasinghe proposed that a tank be built in his palace premises. We have commenced the construction of the tank with the aim of creating a sea of waves in the island with the aim of creating a sea in the island. It was also the habitat of the milk tortoise beside the tank, where the water flowed from the Dunumadala Oya and overflowed the water. King Rajasinghe thought that the name should be summed up and named as “Milk Sea”. King Rajasinghe, who put aesthetics first, worked to make the tank a magnificent place. Devendra Muradhavya also built a waterfall to convince the sky to rise and the waves to rise in the sea. “The water brings me a cold. Lighten your mind. King Wickrama Rajasinghe, who has always said that when the water rises, the wind blows in and the surrounding trees grow. It is mentioned in the book that the island was ordered to build a pavilion and plant trees around it. It is said that the king who sits in the pavilion and lodges the cooling coconut tree including the Farm Tree, Araliya, Dunukke, etc., stays on the island for a few hours a day. The King had entered the island through the Akulana Bridge. There is a bridge that extends to the island, far from where Uppan's or the queens baths are still seen today. This bridge has been destroyed over time. The island called Jayatilleka Pavilion can be built today. The boat service used to visit the lake can be reached through the Cultural Triangle. The beautiful wall around the lake is called the Cloud Wall. At present it is in length. 610. The triangular windows found there have been used to light lamps during festive times. Always a lovely walk when visiting the city. You can observe plant life, birds, the calm water in contrast to the city hustle, and watch people get about their day. The monitor lizards are an incredible bonus if you spot any. Ducks are a basic bonus 🙂.

The Temple of the Tooth and the Kandy Lake are the main evidence that the city of Kandy is historically significant. The beauty of Lake Kirimuhuda in Kandy is indescribable. The Dunumadalawa Oya, a tributary of the eastern slope of the Hanthana Range, flows into the edge of the city of Kandy. King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe was spotted by a tortoise wandering in the open air of the Temple of the Tooth while he was taking a leisurely stroll. King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, a king who gave priority to animal kindness, spread his kindness and compassion towards the milk turtle not only by giving him food and drink. The milk turtle has been living happily ever after for nearly a year. Meanwhile, King Rajasinghe suggested that a tank be built in his palace premises. The construction of the tank was started with the intention of creating a lake like the waves of the sea, with the idea that there should be a sea around the country and the aesthetics that would be created from it should be created in Senkadagalapura and the serenity of the sea in Shakrabhavana should be imagined. It was also the habitat of the milk turtle, near the lake where the water was diverted by diverting the water flowing from the Dunumadala Oya. King Rajasinghe, thinking that all this should be frozen and a meaningful naming should be done, named the Senkadagala Lake as the "Sea of Milk". King Rajasinghe, who gave priority to aesthetics, was engaged in the task of making the lake a magnificent place. Devendra Mulacharya also built a water wall to persuade the waves in the sky and the waves in the sea. “This water also brings me coolness. Relieves the burden of the mind. I keep alive the wind that blows when the waves rise and the surrounding trees and leaves that grow from it ... ” The book notes that a pavilion was built on the island and that trees were ordered to grow around it. It is said that the king stays alone on the island for several hours a day. From that day onwards, the island has been named 'Jayatilake Mandapa'. King Them entered the island via the Akulana Bridge. There was a bridge over the island beyond the place where Ulpan's or queens bathed, which can still be seen today. This bridge has been destroyed over time. No one has tried to reset it. Evidence of a pavilion on the island can still be seen today. An old brick foundation can still be seen today, and it is now preserved by the Cultural Triangle. You can still land on the island called Jayatilake Mandapa today. The boat service to the lake is accessible, but permission must be obtained from the Cultural Triangle.
