I just came back from a ten day stay at Dhamma Kuta and I had a great time! If you are looking for a serious, and proper Vipassana experience Dhamma is a great place. A few things to note: - The food is basic vegan sri lankan food. It's fully Sri lankan which is worth to note. The food is nutritious and healthy. - The centre is absolutely stunning, amazing views, plenty of birds, monkeys, frogs and other bugs which really adds value when you are doing your retreat. - During my stay we were roughly 25 foreigners and the rest were locals. - You will stay in very simple rooms, concrete cell but with bed madrass and sheets. The bathrooms are clean, have hot water (for the most part). This simple living is part of the experience! - Temperature is perfect! Since its located in the mountains its never too cold or too hot. I love that part! - The centre is run very professionally with experienced teachers, great volunteer helpers and staff. - The meditation hall is beautiful, and a great place to spent lots of time! - They keep to a strict schedule, with all meditations in the hall, cushions but no fancy chairs or backsupport. I know this this differs from some european centres. Would I recommend this centre for your first retreat? I totally would, I struggled for the first few days as everyone does but overall the whole experience was great! I also made some nice friends from the retreat! Thanks to Dhamma Kuta for providing this amazing experience!

I can highly recommend Dhamma Kuta for those who are up for a serious practice. The centre is set on the top of a hill, surrounded by beautiful Nature all around. The land is huge. Accommodation is comfortable, food is very tasty. There are meditation cells for old students, new students have to meditate only in the hall, no meditation in room allowed. Make sure to bring some warm clothes.

An ideal place to learn vipassana meditation and the environment is also very calming and soothing. It is situated in a top of a mountain and this gives a beautiful view too. This place has all the facilities necessary for meditation and many programmes are conducted here under the teaching of S.N.Goenkar. They offer programmes for everyone who are interested in learning this meditation technique. In addition you can experience the beauty of monkey as they wonder around the premises as well.

Miss this place so much, took my first course, understood a lot about myself. Those who are seeking about themselves, highly recommend this place. Everyone should experience such a course like this at least once in their lifetime. The vibe will amuse you! Love everything there!

Just passed my first course at Dhamma Kuta and want to say thanks to this centre and all people who were caring about my mind and my body for long 10 days. I day thanks to managers, teachers, cooks, volunteers and students of my group. You helped me to get this experience really deep. The place is very beautiful and peaceful, hidden in the forest on the hillside — best ambience for educating and practicing.
