From the moment we walked in it was a great experience. The hostess was warm and friendly. She saw that I am pregnant (9 months belly is huge) she sat as at a booth I could fit in. She was very considerate. I asked where the restroom was she asked me there herself. I mean stellar customer service. Waitress was great as well. Fast service. And the food was super authentic! El Amigo is topped our cuisine list.

Yo... amazing. Best margaritas, we had the mango pitcher. The California burrito is top notch. For kids?... a great selection of food. Ask for the SPICY salsa and ride that capsasin until your food comes out! Our waitress was so friendly and fun. Bring the family! This place is popular so don’t be surprised at a little bit of a wait!

My wife and I went there today with some friends and she had a California burrito which is absolutely excellent. I would highly recommend it. APC with chicken was also good. I had the combination plate and it was good but not very filling. Service was good. Restaurant is clean. Bathrooms are also clean will go back for sure.

I’m gonna start with the margarita! It’s the first thing I order when I come to a Mexican restaurant and it also determines if I’m gonna order food! So I ordered the house Margarita and that gets a 5/5. For it to be a house it was very good and I felt the buzz. The food was good and seasoned. I ordered the fajitas that had chorizo, steak and chicken. Very flavorful and great portion of meat. My husband ordered the fajita nachos, he loved it but said the cheese sauce was very watery which gives it a 4/5. Great and clean atmosphere and service was great! Highly recommend!

As a family we eat here often, it's our go to if we're trying to stay close to home. The food is always good and comes out quick & hot. Service is great, drinks are good, all around a nice little place and it's fairly priced.

Great food from a large and varied menu, large portions, and friendly staff! I’ve been coming here for over twenty years! There is a reason why the parking lot is always full. Come see why El Amigo can be “your friend” today!

This might just be the worst white washed Mexican food I’ve ever had. These enchiladas look like a children’s pizza at elementary school. The sauce is unseasoned, does not come with rice or beans. The aren’t filled much and just soggy, so soggy. This and the queso fundido are all I had here in fairness but even that was atrocious. They give you that with NOTHING, what am I supposed to eat it like a soup? Just wild. I have a 10-hour ride back home in which I’m gonna pass countless reminders of food options that all remind me of what a terrible choice I made here today. Service was fine no problems there but wow food was like school cafeteria level no effort. Wouldn’t go near this if you’ve ever actually had an Mexican food before I guarantee disappointment. Prices are great but get what you pay for I guess.

Let me start by saying this is by far one of my favorite Mexican places to eat, and has been since I was a child. However, I have found hair in my food twice. The first time this happened the manager showed up to basically blame me that there was hair in my food and his staff does not have short hair. Was I shocked yes however I let it slide because it happens. However, while eating tonight I found another hair in my food after taking two bites. I let my waitress know and let her know that it was okay I didn’t need anything else. A couple minutes later the manager comes over with the same comments that he had the last time that it couldn’t possibly be his employees. I was disappointed in this. A simple I’m sorry this happened would have sufficed however it didn’t end that way and it was now our fault that a hair was in our food. I was not upset that this happened up until that point. You don’t ever go into a restaurant expecting something to be wrong but it happens and needs to be handled in the correct way. I am very disappointed in the way this was handled and I hope that this changes.

The ever prevailing question for me when I visit a New Mexican restaurant is always: Do they have lunch/cheap Texas fajitas? Yes, El Amigo does have them. If you’re traveling on i85 passing through concord, it’s a bit off the path but definitely worth the few minutes it takes to get there. Service was fantastic, food was delicious. Texas fajitas weren’t over cooked, and were seasoned just right. There is plenty of seating so you don’t feel cramped, and everything seemed extremely clean. I Will definitely be back.

An issue I run into with Mexican restaurants is that they all seem to taste the same. I see this especially with combo plates. I ordered a combo plate here the other night, and while some of the items tasted the same as other restaurants some were definitely better. I really enjoyed the poblano. The salsa and queso were super flavorful and that’s one of the things I scrutinize the most. I did not order a margarita but I heard they have the best ones around. The service was good, the restaurant was clean. The amount of food for the price was unbeatable. I’ll be back for sure. Also if you’re wondering, they serve Pepsi products.

Having been living in Kannapolis since 2007 I am very familiar with the quality of El Amigo, however, after todays dinner I can assure you that the quality has significantly degraded. When ordering to go in the past they packaged meals in an aluminum container with a plastic lid. This is vital to excellent Mexican food as it quickly becomes cold and compromises it’s taste, as it has today. Additionally, when ordering a California burrito and asking for the guac on the side 3 times on the phone emphasizing the point, they completely forgot to provide the side of quac. The chips are from a different distributor of less quality in addition to them being cold. The salsa has too much jalapeño, I am very familiar with the usual taste. Thanks El Amigo for making my dog Dakota enjoy her dinner.

I would absolutely make a special trip and drive 2 and a half hours to eat here again, Food was absolutely great, everything I had was truly delicious, and my entire family loved it as well, me and the wife were eating here with the kids while meeting up with some folks, and this town was the halfway meeting point, and we all decided to eat here. 100% worth the drive.

I wish I could give more than five stars, this place far surpassed my expectations! We went with a friend for lunch after going to the park. My oldest son is autistic and eats very few things and he decided on the kids chicken tenders, his was the last meal to come to the table. He was struggling with waiting for his meal, one of the male servers was so kind and took him to the servers part of the kitchen and showed him that the cooks were working on his food right then. This helped him so much, a different male server was teasing and playing with my youngest so he didn't feel left out! I was so grateful for these two and for the many other servers who treated my kids like kids and not nuisances. Not to mention that the food was absolutely delicious and the queso was divine!

El Amigos never disappoints my husband and I. He almost always gets 2 beef burritos with rice and beans. I am the one that switches it up. Today I had ACP Chicken. Awesome dish! Chicken, grilled onions, zucchini, broccoli served on a bed of rice. Then topped with white cheese. Try it sometime! You can get it with shrimp or steak also! The service was excellent. He kept checking on us and was very personable!

Our waiter saved a man's life! He gave him the Heimlich maneuver! My husband had a problem with his food the manager fixed it right away! I have loved this place for years first time I've ever had an issue! best Mexican restaurant in town!!

It's always good in the 20 years I've been coming there or however long they've been open. The food service is fast no matter how packed they are, and they are always packed. They usually don't have a wait for seats. They have the best chips and salsa in town. The Cocina Special is so good. It's big enough for 2. It's basically a tender brisket in a red sauce. They were very kind about my baby being messy this last time. And we had a 21 year old order their first margarita and got completely sloshed off the one drink so that means you know they don't skimp on the alcohol. I go back every time I come to town .

Our meal was great. I had Carnitas, and my spouse had shrimp and chicken fajitas. We'll definitely add the restaurant to our list of favorites.

I always have a pleasant dining experience when going there. My servers are always so kind and efficient. Mac was the last gentleman to serve us there, and he's the best. Not to mention, the food is exceptional every single time. It has been my favorite Mexican restaurant for the last year while living so close to Kannapolis, NC. You won't regret dining here!

The service was A+ the food was D+ the only reason I didn't give an F is because it was warm. I love Mexican food and have had it a ton of times and I was not impressed with this place flavors at all, the food was bland. I will say that the service was perfect the waiter was attentive and meet me and my family needs refilling our salsa and chips and soda since that was the most flavorful thing I tasted. I left a pretty good tip for her also because it wasn't her fault. I will give it another shot I want to believe they had the wrong cook in the kitchen or he just didn't care or forgot to season the food.

1st time here and I won't be back. Service was OK. But the food was dry & pretty tasteless even after pouring all the salsa on. Definitely not what I expected for a Mexican restaurant.

The quality of the food here is better than most in the area. Prep times are not unreasonable. Call ahead before ordering tomales, they sell out often. Twice now, I've ordered entrées they didn't have available, both times they called and we were able to work it out. I hope they stay in business as long as I own a home nearby.

I belong to a group of 7-8 and we go out every Wednesday for lunch together. They all seem to like it and have voted to come back next week for 3rd time. Waitress seemed new and reason for 4 stars - several mistakes in orders, but all were corrected.

Fantastic all around. Our service was lightning-fast, our food arrived hot and delicious, and the salsa is great. Add to that a good beer menu and servers who appeared to be genuinely enjoying their jobs, just a great dining experience. Highly recommend.
