Bless their hearts. They really tried to make a great museum. The exhibits were interactive and interesting. There just wasn’t much there. It only cost $10 and I would gladly pay that for the effort to keep Jazz alive.

It is a really food place to learn about the history of jazz in Kansas City. It has some cool old pictures and artifacts. I thought and hoped it would be a lot bigger and have more displays.

I visited the American Jazz Museum today and had a great time. The museum is very affordable, well laid out and provided an outstanding exhibit of American jazz and culture. Also, today was the final day for the Billie Holiday special exhibit, which was amazing. This is a great place to visit if you are in Kansas City Missouri, and gives you an amazing perspective on American history and culture.

Very good museum with lots of historical information and interactive displays. A few of the audio units were not working well. The headphone listening stations were much better. Learned a lot. Lots of things to read on the panels.

This place was amazing. Very educational and artistic on how it was put together. I love the hands-on learning there was made available. You could hear Louise Armstrong play his trumpet, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald it was so inspiring to see all these amazing jazz musicians.

This was a fun experience. There is a lot of listening stations, a replica of an old school jazz room, very fun experience. Wasn't too familiar with jazz so I can't say I knew everything there but I definitely learned a lot !

I had the pleasure of meeting Earl and Ronnie the Mayor today. We were super blessed with their wisdom and knowledge. Thank you for making our stay in K.C. memorable. ❤️

This is a two-in-one museum. First we saw the baseball museum or the history of black baseball the other side is the jazz museum we enjoyed both but it would have been so much better had we had a tour guide to explain some of the stuff to us but all in all it was a good visit

My first time there and it was like stepping back in time. Such a refreshing and sweet experience 💞-absolutely loved it. The artwork is priceless. I hope to see this museum and the Negro Baseball League expand soon -too much and too little history and heavy hitters crammed into too small a space.

This was a great stop. A lot of interactive exhibits on many of the jazz greats: Louie Armstrong; Ella Fitzgerald…Other exhibits talked about how rhythm, different instruments all contribute to jazz styles.

I liked that there's a place in the states where you can actually learn about the history of jazz. The guys at the entrance were super welcoming and had a great outfit!

I seriously loved the Jazz museum! I've been eyeing it for months and finally got a chance to go. There are lots of stations with interactive music books with histories about popular Jazz musicians. There's a whole hallway of interactive music and rhythm sound boards to learn about the different styles and even "mix" your own song. Most of the stations have headphones so you don't have to worry about disturbing other guests. More than worth the time we spent here and will likely be back as they rotate new exhibits in.

It shares a building with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. I enjoyed the baseball museum a little more myself, but the jazz museum was very nice. It does a good job of highlighting several of the more influential people in Jazz music.

18th & Vine is an historical district for American and also houses the Negro Baseball Leagues Museum. You should visit with the understanding that American Jazz spans more than 1 area of the Country. Worth a stop to see the Blues influence in Jazz.

Awesome museum, they had music and information from iconic jazz musicians. They have an area where you could sit and watch shirt films or another area where you could listen to specific instruments and how they are used in jazz music. It was a great stop when we visited KC.

Very small museum which highlights Louis Armstrong, and Ella Fitzgerald. There are also samples of their music which you can listen through headphones provided at the stations which are not sanitized between guests. It took us about 40 minutes to get through the whole thing. There is also a video that talks about the 18th and vine district in the lobby.

I absolutely enjoyed my experience here. We took my mom and our 4 kids and they liked hearing the music. My oldest especially loved it because he is a trombone player.

A small but important museum featuring ground breaking jazz musicians such as Charlie Parker, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Ella Fitzgerald to name a few. The Jazz Museum features artifacts, video clips and stories about these artists and their life while in Kansas City.

What an amazing experience! To see a little more, visit McPeek Adventures on Youtube - we recently shared our visit to the NLBM. Our channel features all the things to do in Kansas City! Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to visit the museum. There’s a lot to see and read! We went during February (Black History Month) and our visit was free! The Royals paid for everyone’s admission. So cool!!

What a funky little museum! The guy at the front desk is super charismatic! I loved having the opportunity to hear all original music made by these historic figures!! However there is a lot of pressing buttons, so I recommend bringing hand sanitizer, as it didn't seem to be provided. The architecture of the building was also interesting to see! Glad I went!

If you love jazz music and its rich history this is the place to visit. Very informative and interesting super cool. Im planning to bring my wife with me. I was there on business when I was invited to visit their historic venues. What a great place to go for a couples getaway if jazz music is your thing. Plus the people of Kansas City were very very nice.

If you haven't been here, make it a point on your next visit. I didn't expect to be so entertained, but my whole family enjoyed learning and EXPERIENCING jazz. You have to go! I've never been to such a wonderful hands-on museum. Totally loved it.

I really enjoyed this beautiful museum. It was wonderful seeing kids there learning, and there was a tremendous amount of information. Very enjoyable, and the employees/volunteers were lovely. The Jazz Walk of Fame is right outside.

Great place to visit to learn about Jazz and the history of Jazz. I wish I would have had more time to spend there. The gift shop was fabulous too.

I enjoyed this museum-it had a lot of good information, and it was interesting to learn the role Kansas City played in the development of jazz. I only knew New Orleans, New York and Chicago. My only complaint is that there doesn’t seem to be any organization to the museum. Exhibits seem to be randomly placed.

We had a lovely time on our annual field trip here. The museum is always well-kept and interactive enough to keep 5th graders busy.🙂 Our trip was self-guided, but I look forward to having storytelling return some day!

I really enjoyed the AJM in KCMO. Reviewing the area artists, listening to their music, learning their contributions to the city, the nation and the world was so very interesting. I would definitely go back and bring more people to see the great colorful exhibits. Great time.

Nicely laid out museum. It's a bit smaller than I expected. They focus on a half dozen jazz greats (and you can hear sample recordings of their music) and then they have an interactive display on the basics of jazz (rhythms, harmonies, tones, instrumentation, etc.) and a few other displays of album cover art and local artists. You can go through the entire museum easily in a half hour, but longer if you listen to a lot of the music. One main issue is that some of the music plays out loud and if it's all going on at once it produces a cacophony. Other displays have headphones but then that limits the amount of people who can hear it (and some of those were broken). My suggestion: Allow guests to scan some sort of code to pair their own earbuds to whatever display they are looking at (or provide generic headphones in the same way).

I like listening to all the music samples played. You’re able to read about different artists while listening to their music. It was cool to learn about different elements of music

This place is amazing. The music and the atmosphere were top notch. The servers were nice and professional. I am so glad this place is finally open again. My first ever concert in my life and you guys made it memorable and enjoyable. Will be coming back again for sure.

Nice place interactive, but some interactions were repeated a couple times, they have good old pieces of famous artists, not too many, but at least something is worth the price ($10)

Great information about the beautiful American art form of Jazz!

Very educational about the jazz greats. I learned so much and enjoyed all the music clips. I appreciated that there were some places to sit down as my back troubles me if I stand too long. A few of the exhibits needed repairs.
