What an Ambassador Class experience! Pam and Dean were an absolute delight in showing us around and peppering us with wonderful stories of their time with TWA! This was a pleasant surprise for us on our trip to Kansas City! The museum is so well put together with hidden gems EVERYWHERE if you know where to look and what to look for! However, the stories are the big treat here as Dean and Pam tell them with such zeal and realism! I have been to many an airline museum and this one sits safely at the top! Don't miss it!!

What a surprise!!! Grew up in the TWA family and was excited to see the museum. What a great experience. Eric, our tour guide, was excellent. Very knowledgeable and engaging. Lots of fun with the TWA veterans adding their knowledge and experiences while we toured. 707 simulators and training equipment, tons of memorabilia. Totally worth the trip. Thank you to the volunteers!!!

Very informative. It’s a guided tour. I would recommend getting there with about 2.5 hours left so that you are not rushed through the tour and can get all of the information. The people who are giving the tours worked at TWA which is amazing. It was slow at first but got more and more interesting as the tour went on. That may be due to how I feel about it however.

What a cool place! The volunteers are knowledgeable and friendly, and the exhibits are impressive! Be prepared to learn everything you never knew you didn't know about TWA and air travel in general. Lots of cool ties to Howard Hughes, too. If you're an aviation enthusiast, plan a visit!

Our experience coming to TWA was truly amazing! We literally got the best tour guide ever who actually was a second generation TWA employee and worked for maintenance. His name was Tyler Gregory! Tyler was absolutely amazing and had so much knowledge and experiences that he shared with us during our tour there. He is the person that brought back several displays in the museum from Saint Louis especially the airplane that you get to go and sit on. He and some of his buddies personally built it and assembled it which was so cool to hear the experience he had in doing so. This was literally the best museum we have visited in KCMO. We went to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and Tyler made the experience one of a lifetime. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable but he was very nice and had a wonderful personality. He is definitely a wonderful person and I really enjoyed all the information and facts he shared to make our experience so wonderful and informative! The museum is such a nice place and seeing the TWA plane and being able to go inside was such a cool experience. I would definitely recommend coming to the TWA museum as you will love it! We will be back soon to visit when Mr. Tyler is back in town to have the amazing experience that he provided us with. Thank you Mr. Tyler for the amazing experience, and the TWA museum for giving us a amazing tour guide to make our experience one of a lifetime! We can't wait to visit again soon!

What a hidden Gem in KC! I guess I was expecting a run down hanger of relics from a by gone area but instead, it is a treasure trove of all things TWA! Yes, the museum is small, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I just had about 30 minutes to tour so I got the express version so I really didn't get the full experience, which by the way I plan to do the next time we're in the area. Because this is an active hanger, you're provided a tour guide to show you around and tell the TWA story with others visiting. I was told the full tour is about an hour and a half. The TWA plane in the hanger that you get to board, check out, take pics from the Pilots seat had to be my favorite display. As a nice plus, the staff that were present the day I visited were super welcoming, personal and had lengthy experience in the aviation industry. I appreciate when I visit places, people truly care about what they are doing. You can just tell that they want you to see what their museum has to offer and they are glad you made the time to visit. Just a few things visitors need to be aware of ---- There is road construction when you exit to go down the ramp to the museum and the signage is definitely confusing. I must of went around the round-about half a dozen times trying to figure out how to get to the parking lot. Just go to Signature Aviation MKC - Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport, which the TWA museum shares the building with. Related to the location above, since TWA shares the building, walk into the entrance, turn left and follow the hallway until you see the TWA desk. It's a little confusing but once you realize that they share the building, it's easy to find the way. Once again, thank you TWA for an amazing quick visit and Lord willing, if I'm in the area again, I will be back to get the full experience!

The last I visited the TWA Museum was over 10 years ago. It’s amazing how much it has grown since then. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and most importantly, they all love TWA. FLY TWA

Fantastic museum to visit, especially if you're into aviation. They have a lot of things to look at and we got a tour the day we were here. Definitely recommend a visit! I thought it would only take an hour but we spent over two here. Entrance is through the original terminal building which is still in use.

Lots of fun and great memorabilia. All the guides were great. Glad we stopped by after finding the Airline Museum on the other side of the airport was permanently closed. Well worth the price of admission!

The docent was incredibly knowledgeable and was an actual TWA flight attendant for decades. Every part was more amazing than the last. I plan to go back again one day.

WOW! What a great museum run by AMAZING volunteers! Coming from someone who spent some time working for United Airlines and an aviation enthusiast, this was a truly terrific experience! Going in we weren't sure what to expect, but we were very impressed by the collection of items they had, but even more so by our tour guide, Larry. All of the tour guides are volunteers and former TWA employees, and Larry gave my two friends and I a personalized hour's-long tour of the facility, and contributed knowledge, context, and humanity to the numerous displays and artifacts from the airline's history. This was an absolute highlight of our weekend in KC, and I would HIGHLY recommend making the time to visit this museum! On a small side note, pay attention when entering the museum; It isn't very clear how to enter the airport area due to extensive road construction in the area.

Great museum! Staff very very very informative and friendly! Honestly didn't even know what TWA was and had just thought that this was a airplane museum where we could see some nice displays of old plane stuff, but boy was I wrong! Turns out it's an extensive walk through history of a once great airline and it's impact on the world of aviation, and KC! Was visiting before going on my first ever flight, and the volunteers there did nothing but ease my nerves! They really are what made the whole experience, and gave my girlfriend and I a guided tour throughout the museum explaining every single plane, how it impacted the TWA's growth, and the industry as a whole, and taking us through the decades of TWA as they revolutionized the highways in the sky, and the instrument used to travel them. It's inspirational to see the volunteers dedication. You can tell they really loved they're time working for TWA, and dedicate a portion of they're life to preserving and passing on the information of the airline. Would visit again just to see them! They have just one airplane, but the story of it is just incredible. The staff really could spend an evening telling you stories of they're time onboard. The airplane is an older passenger plane, and seeing it and being able to go inside of it is amazing! They're simulator is definitely a little old and laggy, but was really awesome to use, and the instructor was amazing at guiding me through how to fly and land the plane! They have an entire room with multiple full sized aviation cockpits that you can sit in! It's amazing the amount of buttons and switches that are in these planes. They're new exhibit they're building is sure to be phenomenal and a real experience. It's going to be an entire process from buying a ticket, to boarding a TWA plane, being served a meal, just like the glory days of TWA! Was really an amazing time and totally different from what I expected. Would not hesitate to stop by again on my next trip to KC to say hi to the volunteers!

Today we just needed a day away from the daily grind and the TWA Museum filled the ticket perfectly. I loved how the guides worked for TWA. There was no better way to hear the history than from those that lived it. The museum was a pleasant experience, with plenty of hands on engagement. Any airplane enthusiast needs to make this visit.

I highly recommend checking out this museum if you have a couple hours to spare and are interested in the history of a KC based airline! Our tour guide Eric made it very enjoyable for us with his funny stories of mishaps that happened, and his excellent navigation skills walking backwards everywhere while spouting cool facts. The hangar and other exhibits are done really well, and pretty interactive at points. We ended the tour with flying and landing a plane in a flight simulation, and bought some old souvenirs at the gift shop. Pretty cool entertainment for a rainy day!

The TWA museum was so much fun! I went with an avgeek, not knowing how I'd feel, but it was so interesting! The tour guides did a fantastic job, and getting to see and experience history was engaging! Well done!

I have been going to KMKC for years but never took the time to visit the TWA museum. Well yesterday I was able to take the time. I must say I was very impressed. I was impressed from the amount of memorabilia on display to the enthusiasm and knowledge of the volunteers. It was a great experience. Everyone was so friendly you could tell they loved to be a part of the museum. I would highly recommend taking the time to visit. Thank you Larry for your time.

Great museam and gift shop, lots to see for adults and kids, make sure you arrive at least 2 hours before closing if you want the full guided tour - multiple rooms in different parts of the hanger, an airplane on display, lots of memorabilia, furniture, uniforms, and cockpit/ simulators

The museum is in the birthplace of TWA they have an amazing selection of memorabilia from all the years TWA was in existence also lots of fun training equipment that was used to train the pilots for TWA definitely worth a visit

The volunteers were so nice and friendly! They were inviting and very informative on all things TWA. The amount of information and history is staggering when you think of the size of the museum. The museum itself is well planned and easy to get around in. The flight simulator looked to be way cooler than my XBOX could provide any day of the week. I would highly recommend a visit.

All volunteers are ex-TWA employees and all had an extensive knowledge about TWA. Most are very friendly. Wonderful collection of TWA memorabilia, and a beautifully maintained Lockheed Electra Jr. They are shoehorned into the building they occupy and there's no flow to their exhibits, to no fault of their own. More to this than meets the eye, make sure you have someone escort you to the hangar or you will miss most of the museum! Sad to hear one of the volunteers badmouth the recently shuttered Airline History Museum (previously Save-A-Connie) on the west side of the airport, they should join forces to ensure that all of the aircraft there are not lost! The city ought to help these folks out as TWA helped make KC what it is today and is an integral part of its history.

What a fun hidden gem! Though the museum seems a bit dated, it has really cool artifacts, such as a Howard Hughes flight log and Amelia Earhart’s chair. However, the best part was getting to hear the β€œwar stories” from our flight attendant tour guide, Larry. We got some wonderful tales from him! Highly recommend coming here!

The Staff was the best part they were a lot of fun ex-flight attendants. They really added to the experience. My Uncle worked for TWA back in the day and it just brought back memories. Thanks for the trip down memory lane

Getting to hang out with Mr. Larry for an hour was more than worth the price of admission. Such an informative tour made even better by someone who lived through TWA's history and has a strong, emotional connection to that experience. A much better experience than Boeing's sterile Prologue Room in St Louis.

A small museum that does an admirable job capturing the joys of flying and the history of TWA Airlines. The museum has a ton of TWA memorabilia, from flight attendant uniforms to plane replicas across the airline's history. There is even a flight simulator for those "inspiring" pilots out there! The highlight of the experience is the hanger segment of the guided tour. You even get to view a variety of aircraft, training supplies, vintage equipment, and a reproduction of a VIP lounge. The tour guide did provide a plethora of information despite not seeming to be excited to be guiding and was not very conversational. It is an excellent museum experience for adults or children who can control their urges to touch everything. The museum is pretty accessibility friendly; the aisles are reasonably wide, and the entire museum is on a single level with one doorway to navigate. All in all, the TWA museum should be on your Kansas City to-do list. It is a delightful contribution to the history of aviation in Kansas City!
