My family has been staying at this location for over 20 years on various trips. We have always been thrilled with the Embassy, but this latest trip was extremely disappointing. The building itself is becoming shabby relative to the price. Our room reeked of marijuana. The cleanliness left much to be desired. The TVs in the room were in poor condition. Many amenities were unavailable or in disrepair. Ice machines, gates, elevators, steam room, hot tub, drink fountains all inoperable. Staff seemed to be doing the best they could and were polite. Restaurant was said to be open but wasn’t staffed most of the time. The breakfast was extremely disappointing and it took forever to get food. Overall, this hotel has seen much better days and we were extremely disappointed and found that the premium price was not warranted.

Do not waste your time or money here. It is beyond outdated and overall just filthy. We had 8 nights booked here and had to leave after one. When I say filthy I mean FILTHY. We switched rooms once because of how dirty and the smell of cigarettes only to find the second one just as bad. Damp and stained carpets, holes and stains in couches. Bathroom filthy and tub didn't drain, crumbs and dirt all over the floors, one roll of toilet paper. Freezer completely frozen over. Line for the complimentary drinks has you waiting about 40 min for one drink. Sinks wouldn't drain. No laundry on site like advertised. Only one working ice machine for 12 floors. Trash in all the stairwells. Homeless and sketchy people walking all over at all times of day. I've never in my life seen a hotel this filthy. Wouldn't stay again for free.

WOW!!!!!!DISAPPOINTED is an understatement!! Not sure How this place carries the Embassy Suite Name. They should change it to a Motel ! Best words to describe this place is Disgusting, Dirty, Run down, Old & Unsafe! We are on a road trip and passing by to get home go Cali & have stayed in 4 Embassy suites Kentucky, Oklahoma, st. Louis and Kansas City being the WORST. As soon as we got there and the doors were locked & should have realized this was not safe place. We booked 2 rooms & both had similar issues so it's not an accident. Holes is the ceilings, leaking fridge, no proper amenities, shower water pressure Low, one broken telephone and so on. Called front desk and asked if someone could bring up missing do not disturb sign & if we could check out late ,because we got in late. The response I got was no & I would be charged $25 which was ridiculous because none of the others had same policy. Tyler who called himself the Manager and the only one in charge at the time needs better peoples skills and how to deal with his clients, before calling himself the Manager. The SAD thing about this is review is I'm probably going to get a diplomatic response telling me they will take my feedback in consideration and DO NOTHING! Reviews don't seem matter to establishment after taking the time and reading reviews from 3 years Ago with the same Unfortunate issues. My only Objective with this Review is to help the next Family Not make the same Mistake we did and just go off the Embassy Name without checking reviews.

Overall hotel looks dated, not particularly important to me, however, carpets on the floors are dirty and stained. In the room the setting area had two broken down pieces of furniture. The chair was absolutely filthy with arms that were blackened from use. It really looked like they found them on a curb somewhere. The most comfortable chair in the room was the desk chair. Bedroom is OK. Mattress was comfortable bathroom was OK, except a black stain on the bathmat that never went away. On check-in there were two ladies at the desk one, was mostly cordial. The other one seemed angry and told me they would not make up the room without a 24 hour notice. I was there seven nights and only asked for the room to be cleaned once, at 8 am on a Saturday. They told me it couldn’t be done until Sunday. Guess what, it wasn’t cleaned until Monday after I asked a second time. The breakfast is somewhat of a bright spot it’s decent and they will custom cook an omelet if you want. Although one day I did get rotten fruit. I was at this hotel because my wife was across the street at the hospital. I had no idea how long she was going to be there so I would go down and add days as necessary. One day I went down and told him I needed another day about about 7 PM. The girl was a little busy and was kind of blowing me off, but I asked her three separate times if she had added a day to my reservation. Guess what she didn’t. I found this out the next morning when I got a notice that I was being checked out with my stuff still in the room. I had to go back over and get new keys which was just a small annoyance, but certainly unnecessary. The heating unit in my room clanged and banged and sounded like it was about to fall out of the celling. The weird thing about this whole experience is this is a Hilton branded hotel, I expected more. I guess the Hilton brand doesn’t really mean that much anymore.

The staff at his hotel was wonderful. They were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the rooms were run down and dirty. The first room I was given smelled heavily like smoke. The next room had bleach stains on the carpet, torn curtains, a scratched up door, windows covered in handprints and a dirty bathroom. The air conditioner was so loud it made it difficult to sleep. I have always had luck with Hilton properties but this one is long overdue for a remodel.

We were very disappointed in the condition of this hotel. The pictures online do not accurately reflect the hotel. The rooms are extremely outdated. The coffee pot did not work. The bathrooms are small and the handle for the sliding glass door removed because the balcony was in need of repair. The AC had to be set at 65 to cool and only cooled the suite area. The location being close to the plaza was the only plus. I would not personally recommend this hotel.

As a silver Hilton Honors member who intentionally selects Hilton for the satisfaction guarantee, I’m sadly dissatisfied. The hotel is in an excellent location- it’s why we chose it! Walking distance to lots of great spots. The building has a ton of potential with its beautiful atrium and spacious rooms, but is in desperate need of renovation and deep cleaning. Carpets dirty and stained and decor are outdated. The staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. Our biggest frustration was the elevator situation. When you have a 14-story hotel you must have reliable and efficient elevators. Of the three elevators, only two worked consistently, but were very small and slow. We returned to the hotel late on a Saturday night after a show, and had to wait at least 20 minutes in the garage for an elevator. Only one was functional - very frustrating. Yes, stairs were an option but walking 6 flights of stairs from the garage to the 5th floor isn’t realistic to ask. Would definitely not recommend this hotel for anyone in any sort of schedule to keep because you have to plan to wait for an elevator for at least 10-20 minutes!

This will unfortunately be a terrible review for a hotel that could be SO MUCH BETTER. First of all the staff were very helpful and did what they could do with what appears to be VERY LIMITED resources. I have many pictures! Here is a laundry list of issues: 1. Mislead that we had the 3 room suite reserved. Luckily they had another room for us 2. Refrigerator in one room totally frozen but this was replaced quickly 3. Ice bucket had no bags and water left in the bucket 4. A package of raw hamburger and a container of cottage cheese found in the other rooms refrigerator 5. Outlets should be replaced ....fire inspection lately??? 6. No trash bags for trash receptacles in the rooms 7. Cigarette butts in one of the stairwells 8. Sketchy cable 9. Ice machines not working 10. Were told 1 room was a "premier" room because of upgraded appliances!! Not true + coffee maker in one room did not work. 11. Piano player in lobby Friday afternoon- very nice! 12. Breakfast not what it used to be 13. Happy hour not worth it....put that money back into the hotel! HILTON/EMBASSY SUITES DO BETTER!

Like every other review has stated, the rooms here are a major disappointment. Stained carpet with raised grooves. Mold smell. Shower head mounted only 4 ft up so you can't even clean yourself comfortably. General aura of this hotel not being well kept. Crap cherry on top is that even the breakfast sucked. No eggs, burnt bacon, expired tasting sausage links, hard as rock biscuits and unseasoned white gravy. This place is just sad.

This hotel is gorgeous and full of charm, in a great location, has a gym, a bar, a restaurant, free breakfast, free happy hour drinks, free snacks, on-site security, an arcade, a sauna, a hot tub, and two indoor heated pools Our room was clean and very spacious. The entire staff is amazing. We loved it here. I'm a single mom that reads reviews with respect for whether or not to stay at a hotel. I'm also one that leaves them. This is a great hotel.

I was in town for the Top Gun Showcase softball tournament the weekend of 6/16 and stayed here. This is an old hotel with a lot of charm. The suites are small by todays standards but worked well for me plus two other people. Over three people and it would be crowded. The shower needs updated but overall the room was in good shape. The breakfast bar was awesome with made to order omelets pancakes and precooked breakfast food. Plenty of seating too. There is a happy hour that we didn't attend due to time constraints. The pool area was small but had a nice tropical theme with a hot tub, shallow pool and a 7' deep pool. The elevators were definitely slow so plan for extra time if the hotel is busy. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Tammy & Caitlin at the front desk were fantastic. Always greeted me with a friendly hello & smile. Very nice hotel near grocery store & good food Be sure to let them know you want your room cleaned. It is only cleaned upon request. The free hot breakfast was good and was vast with variety to please all. The young gentlemen serving drinks during happy hour was amazing and super nice! I needed maintenance in my room due to my safe not working properly and maintenance showed up right away friendly and nice. All the staff here are absolutely amazing. Thank you for the pleasant stay.

Our room never got cool. Only the front room did. So we were hot and sweaty all night. We got absolutely no sleep both nights due to the hospital and sirens right next door. ALL. NIGHT. LONG. We had a sound machine. But it didn’t block the sound of the sirens every 5 - 10 minutes at all. The breakfast was terrible. Eggs overcooked. Eggs to watery. Potatoes burnt. French toast sticks soggy. The pool hours on a weekend should have been until 10. But they closed it at 9. My guess is because they didn’t want to deal with kids. Who knows. The convenience of our electronic key only worked for our room. We needed separate keys for both the pool and parking. Everything is old and outdated. Antique shower heads. Extremely small bathrooms. Just completely disappointed. Will never stay here again.

I decided to stay at the Embassy Suites by the plaza for my birthday weekend. I thought it would be a nice place to stay and expected it to be on the higher end of the spectrum. I was sorely disappointed. When you first walk in you are hit with the strong smell of chlorine. When we entered our suite you could tell that it’s been awhile since they’ve updated and the cleanliness was questionable. The ceiling in the bedroom had a water stain that looked like it might have mold. The bathroom tub was stained (a white tub that now looked grayish black on the bottom). One of our lights was out and one of the light fixtures you could see dead bugs in. We thought about asking for another room but from the looks of the hotel it seemed like all the rooms would not be very clean or kept. We weren’t told that the hot tub was closed. The restaurant was also closed on the weekend so there wasn’t any food to order in the hotel. It looks like it once was a nice hotel but that no one has cared enough to keep it up. I was very disappointed and would not recommend.

BEWARE OF PARKING FEES & THE HOTEL TOOK HALF MY DAMAGE DEPOSIT FOR NO REASON!!! Front desk people were great to deal with and rooms were spacious, but the building is pretty out dated. Very nice views from the rooms however looking down to the lobby where there is a fountain. There is a small arcade area and pool table which was fun. Atmosphere at this place is somewhat sketchy to say the least and they had a broken elevator which was as so difficult and frustrating when it got busy. Would I ever stay here again? NO. I thought taking my damage deposit was so wrong and crooked and also their “parking fees”. I wonder if they take half of everyone’s damage deposit and just get away with it. Be better Embassy because the place has potential..

Upon arrival the hotel looks very nice and well kept. But once we made it to the room my opinion quickly changed. The 1st room had a torn curtain and mold under the bath mat. So they switched our room, 2nd room the faucet on the tub had a constant leak. The rooms need to be updated. The ice machine was broken on our floor. They need more hand sanitizer stations especially by the breakfast buffet. They got two stars because the breakfast was actually good and the happy hour.

The stay was nice. Kids loved the pool and the atmosphere of the main lobby makes it a nice place to sit and have happy hour drinks. Breakfast is a few notches above the standard continental breakfast at other hotels. The rooms are very dated and in my opinion gives the overall impression of being unclean/run down. It was hard to get past that first impression. Our room advertised sleeping for 6, yet the room did not have enough pillows or blankets for 6. When I asked for more at the front desk, I was told they didn't have anymore. Given that there were unoccupied rooms, I felt that they could have accommodated us by borrowing pillows/ blankets from one of those rooms... instead all I got was "sorry"... Location is great... easy walking distance to Westport (bars/restaurants) and close proximity to the Plaza. I'm sure this place was great in its heyday.... but it's way past it's prime now.

We had a great experience at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and well stocked. There was no hair dryer, so I called the front desk and someone brought one within 5 min. The front desk manager checked on us each day. The free breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of food.

This my second time at this hotel! It is a great location if you are wanting to visit the bars, shopping and restaurants nearby. They have a huge pool area and the jacuzzi has some powerful jets. The room was great and the breakfast was good. We never got to make it to happy hour because of our schedule. There was some really great staff and some not so great staff. I still would highly recommend staying here.

Worst Embassy Suites I’ve stayed at by a mile. I’ve had nothing but good experiences at other Embassy Suites so I didn’t read reviews before booking this one, which was a mistake. I will start with some good before listing many of the negatives. Most of the staff were nice and tried to be helpful, the pool was fun for my young children, breakfast and happy hour were decent. Now for the bad…the hotel is extremely dated and run down. Carpets are stained and taped to keep them together all over the place. Visible, thick dust on the walls. The elevator situation is abysmal. Out of the three elevators in the hotel only one worked the entire time we were there. Two were working about half the time, which was still insufficient for how many guests needed to use it. Anytime we had to use the elevator it would take 10-20 minutes to get one. The floor inside the elevators was disgusting and buttons are broken and vandalism is scratched into the metal as well. Inside the room, it smelled musty and had lots of stains on the carpets. The room was decently clean on the surface, but needs some serious deep cleaning and/or renovation and new furniture. We did not get any housekeeping service during our two night stay which isn’t a huge deal but for the nightly rate I would expect some. Something is wrong with either the TV or the signal, because everything was blurry or glitchy that made watching it difficult. The beds were comfortable but overall the room just felt old and neglected. Apart from the few positives I listed, everything about this hotel feels like it’s a $49/night motel, not an Embassy Suites. I will never stay at it again, and will definitely think twice before booking other Embassy Suites.

I have stayed at Embassy’s for years and have never had an experience like this. My friend and I stayed here for Halloween weekend and this stay was more scary than the damn Halloween party. When we first got to our room we saw 4 ROACHES in less than 10 minutes. I went downstairs to get a new room and the front desk lady (young white girl with long brown hair) said absolutely nothing. No words at all. Not even a sorry! I took my new key up and started searching this room. To my surprise there was another small roach in the “clean sheets” on the bed!! We were disgusted but we had no choice because every other hotel was sold out that weekend so we had to stay. Fast forward to 3am when we got back from the bars, the fire alarms were going off in the whole hotel for about 20 minutes. There was no protocol followed as far as evacuation and making sure guests were safe. None of us had any idea what was going on and were given no answers. The elevators were still in use and it was honestly so bizarre seeing how everything unfolded. All in all I would encourage anyone to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! There are far nicer and CLEANER hotels in KC that aren’t $200 a night. This was a joke.

Here is my feedback I submitted earlier. Service by front desk great, the hotel is dirty run down and one of the worse Hilton Properties I stayed in. Is not the first time I have stayed here but it is the last. Everything is either broke run down dirty. Simple details look at your elevator buttons all broken, gym filthy dirty, floors, carpets smell like mold. Take a ride on the elevator and just take a look at the yellow stucko it is all dirty it is grey with dust, all the way from floor 12 down the parking the walls in front of the hotel they are falling apart. The entrance coming in the heating unit at the bottom all broken down. I cannot justify paying 250 per night to stay in a place like this. I can stay and will stay at the international for 169 and the property is renovated and spotless it is clean!!! Please just go to that hotel and walk in and see the difference. My room was awful stains missing wall paper ceiling tiles wet from unit leaking. This really upset me to stay in a place in such bad condition like this. Disappointed specially since I am a Diamond Hilton honors member.

Great location and service. Housekeeping is top notch. At breakfast one lady is cleaning the tables as soon as they are free. She comes to your table and offers to pick up your dishes. Our room was also spotless. My grandchildren loved the pool, hot tub and happy hour reception, will be back.

Dated and Dumpy Surprisingly quiet night considering it was sold out Paid for a “premium suite” Completed the digital checkin via app and went straight to room Snacks/drinks weren’t left in the room. Had to pickup at front desk. Room was extremely dated and in rough shape although somewhat clean. Bathroom ceiling patches living area ceiling patches(many), sliding window/door had electrical tape on it, towel rack hanging, wallpaper coming off, carpet stains. TV/ Cable kept freezing up. Window filthy. The list goes on… Bathroom beyond tiny Parking lot/garage dirty and dated with warning signs in garage about flooding $21 to park too. Diamond member and stay weekly at all hotel chains across the country with job Asked for a 1 hour late checkout (noon vs 11). Initially they denied my request and weren’t accommodating. After several room texts back and forth, manager approved. This, by far, is one of the worst Embassy Suites/Hilton properties I’ve ever stayed at Paid $500+ for room and on a good day it’s worth maybe 1/3 that. Wouldn’t recommend unless some huge renovations take place.

Tammy at the front desk is phenomenal! The breakfast staff was very attentive and patient with the kids! Hotel is clean and beautiful. Pool is warm, hot tub is warm but not too hot for kids. Has a sauna. Great free breakfast buffet. Parking is not free.

We checked in an hr ago this is an embarrassment to Hiltons reputation. This place is nasty and I can’t wait to leave! I’ve read the reviews and everything is unfortunately true. The location is great..keep the original architectural bring it back to life. Is keeping this property costing you in the long run more than remodeling? With all of the events KC has you are loosing money and reputation.

Hotel staff were great, very friendly. Hotel is across the street from a hospital. Kept my boyfriend and I up at night due to sirens from ambulances. If you choose to stay here, request a room on the opposite side and that might be better. Location was great regarding ease of getting to and from restaurants. Room and hotel in general is extremely outdated. Carpet in our room had stains. Decor is not worth spending $150-300 a night (I paid $708 for 2 nights due to Taylor swift being in town). Bathroom was smaller than my powder room at home. Sink was in the bedroom which was just weird and very 90’s. Elevators had damaged buttons and carpet. It honestly just looked ratty. Didn’t eat breakfast there since it was only open 6am to 9am which is super early to close up breakfast compared to other places I’ve stayed that keep it open until 10 or 11. We were given drink tickets to use at happy hour but didn’t have the opportunity to use them due to our schedule. Bar closed at 10pm, again super early. Pool closed at 9pm, so same thing there. This is a fine place to stay if you really don’t care about the aesthetics or need to sleep multiple people in a suite to save money. Otherwise, go with a newer hotel. I voiced some of these concerns to the manager and was given 20K Hilton points, which was appreciated.

The front desk was so very helpful. Everyone we dealt with was professional and kind. Big shout out to Jacob and Luis at the front desk. They made sure I had the necessary accommodations. Our room was clean and the handicap bars in the shower were perfect. Another shoutout to bartender Andre who made amazing drinks but also recommended Char Bar for dinner, which was walking distance away. When we are back in Kansas City we will stay here again. Thank you to all who made our trip exceptional.

Stayed here 2 nights for my daughters wedding. Guest services were very professional and accommodating. Nice location, love the managers evening reception and yummy breakfast. Pretty outdated but my stay was comfortable. Elevators were always crowded as I believe only 2 were working in a very large facility. My last night, I could not find ice, I walked down 3 floors and none of the machines were working. Nice large suite but there was only one tiny trash can. KC is a fun place!

The staff was absolutely amazing from the moment I walk through the door, I was greated with a warm smile and a family friendly greeting. The bartender was very helpful in explaining the menu to allow my wife and I to pick out the perfect drink for the occasion and it was amazing not overly strong but very tasteful The gentleman whom took my reservation I believe his name was Tony was very caring and listen to my needs and meet them perfectly. The hotel room was stunning to say the least it was absolutely spotless and the smell of cleanliness filled the room as you walked in I would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone for the price quality of service and the friendly greeting and welcome from all the staff here you will enjoy your stay here

Good hotel and great location. There are a few issues I’ve had to deal with but none were major, although I still feel as though I should mention them. If you come here looking to spend most of your time in your room, maybe choose somewhere else. The TVs in the rooms are spotty at best and are not new by any means, cable service is inconsistent and slow to load, and the overall image quality is very low. Internet service is slow. Showers are smaller than average for a hotel and the water pressure is low with little or no actual hot water. Overall the experience was good, though, and I wasn’t dissatisfied with the stay. Breakfast was good, there’s a happy hour at the bar from 5-6:30pm, and the pools were clean and warm. Hotel lobby is a great place to sit and play board games or listen to the live music they have occasionally.

We did a quick trip to Kansas City to get away before school started back. This hotel is in a great location. We knew we wanted to do some shopping and the hotel was within 15-20 minutes of all the places we went. There was enough space for me and my family to spread out in the room. The breakfast was good and the pool area was relaxing. I really appreciated the Happy Hour.

  • 5/5 Hayden R. 1 year ago on Google
This hotel was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and never seemed put out, even when my wife and I bought some snacks from the front desk at midnight. The room was huge and had more than enough space for my family of 5. The pool was closed unfortunately, but it looks like it was because it was being cleaned which is understandable. The breakfast was fantastic and they offered free, made-to-order omelettes, which is not something hardly any other hotel offers as part of their free breakfast. Overall, one of my more enjoyable stays I've had in a hotel and will definitely be going back if I ever find myself back in Kansas City!
