As usual, people are not allowed in their usual dress like other temples in south India. I just hate this part. They want us to come vare chest and lungi in front of ladies and specially in this temple which belongs to Kumari Kanya. There is forced fees at the entry and when you ask why are you taking it then they say it's volunteer fees for Mantainenece. I mean I just don't understand if they do have money for maintaining this temple. Really, govt is not giving them any grants or they have no wealth inside or people do not donate. I find it waste but religiously I found it good. See God is equal for every one, poor or rich, young or old, make it female. But these useless pandits there are greedy.

    * Don't take photos inside the temple, the temple management authority is very strict with this rule, they will sieze your phones. * There is a counter for keeping your chappals outside the temple and a bag counter when you just enter the temple. * Ladoo and many Prasad items are there to buy . * Men should remove shirt and banyan before entering the temple. * Near to kanyakumari bus stand and triveni sangam. * Many hotels and restaurants when you walk through the streets towards the temple entrance. * Sunrise point towards left side of the temple.

One’s Kanyakumari journey will be unfinished without visiting the divine Kumari Amman temple. The holy temple is 3000 years ancient and is dedicated to pure and virgin Goddess Kanya Kumari. There was a mythological story of goddess Kanya Kumari, The devotion of Devi Kanya Kumari dates back to the ancient period of kumari kandam. Kanyakumari is located on the southernmost tip of Tamilnadu. She is a virgin goddess. As Lord Siva didn’t fulfil his promise to marry her on one special day, she was very shocked and furious and her anger was redirected to kill the demons. she continued as a virgin and did repentance. once the demon lord got power over Devas and began abusing and killing Devas. Devas performed Yagna to defeat the evil power! Goddess Parasakthi appeared in Kumari in the formation of a virgin girl and started her penance. Later, when Banusura tried to overcome the Goddess by his power, she killed him with her Chakra and rescued the Devas from difficulties. In this temple, the deity of the goddess is Faced east and the key entrance is through the Northern entrance and the Eastern entrance remains shut most of the times besides some festivities. Later entering through the Northern entrance, guests stroll around the outer hallway and visit the Navaratri Mandapam and later proceed to the second hallway where after praying to the Kala Bhairava, the followers reach to the Dhwajastambha and devotees can get a bright appearance of goddess Devi Kanya Kumari. After worshipping the Goddess, visitants arrive at the inner hallway, where they can have the darshan of Indra Vinayak. A small statue is also found; devoted to Tyaga Sundari. The Devi resembles a beautiful young girl, pose with a rosary in her right hand, and shiny nose ring with glistening light composed up of Bluestone. It is assumed that Devi’s glistening nose ring is formed of Ruby as its illumination can be seen from far away. Visitants are being asked to share ₹10 as a contribution to enter the interior area, where picture-taking is strictly forbidden and men have to remove their shirts and wear a conventional costume before accessing the temple.

Bhagavathy Amman Temple is a very ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Kumari Amman. It's located very close to Kanyakumari Sea Beach. The temple has awesome architecture and has an idol of Goddess Kumari. We visited the temple in the evening hours. There was not much crowd in the temple. We completed the darshan in half an hour.

The Kanyakumari Temple is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Tamil Nadu. The intricate carvings and vibrant colors of the temple are a feast for the eyes. I was blown away by the energy and spiritual aura of the Kumari Amman Temple. The temple's location at the southernmost tip of India only adds to its significance. The temple's dedication to the goddess Kanyakumari is evident in every corner. The temple staff were very helpful and accommodating to visitors. The architecture of the Kanyakumari Temple is a blend of Tamil and Keralan styles, which makes for a unique and fascinating visit. Visiting the Kanyakumari Temple during sunrise or sunset is a surreal experience. The temple's location on the coast offers stunning views of the sea and sky. The temple's history and mythology are intriguing, and the temple guides are knowledgeable and passionate about sharing their knowledge with visitors. The Kanyakumari Temple is a peaceful sanctuary amidst the hustle and bustle of the town. I highly recommend taking some time to soak in the tranquility of the temple. The temple's main deity, Kanyakumari Devi, is believed to possess great powers and blessings. Visiting the temple is a way to connect with this divine energy. The temple's cleanliness and upkeep are commendable. The temple grounds are well-maintained, making for a pleasant visit. The Kanyakumari Temple is a place of great cultural and spiritual significance. I left the temple feeling enlightened and grateful for the experience. Finally the Diamond nose ring, it is said to be adorned on the nose of the goddess, and it is considered to be a symbol of her power and grace.

Very religious place, temple is very old its open at Morning 4:30 am - 12:00 noon and then 4:00 pm to 8:30 at night. There are very strict dressing code for men. They have to visit shirtless in temple and it is compulsory for all mens. Outside temple there are facility of removing shoe but they charge Rs. 30 for that and Rs 20 for special darshan (fast darshan quee). U can purchase so many things from nearby market at cheap rate. Best time to visit to this place is from Octomber to February.

Brilliant Shakti peeth! The inside could do with a little bit of cleaning. Plastic bottles thrown here and there. Isn’t very nice. But you really do get a lovely darshan for 20 bucks per person. No photography allowed inside the main temple. But truly is a beautiful goddess ♥️worth the visit 100000%

Kanyakumari Bhagavathi Amman Temple in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, India is of being mesmerized by the stone idol of the Goddess inside the sanctum sanctorum. In the semi-dark sanctum, a ray of light fell on the face of the deity, and suddenly the nose ring that adorned her shone brilliantly, illuminating her face. The eyes of the deity shone with a divine lustre in the light reflected by the diamond-studded nose ring, and tears rolled down our faces, tears of pure bliss. Such is the effect of Devi Kanyakumari, at the Bhagavathy Amman Temple, Kanyakumari. One can only imagine the effect that the Kanyakumari Temple and the Goddess Kanya Kumari (Virgin Goddess), must have had on the great Swami Vivekananda in the year 1892, when he visited and meditated at the temple, before swimming to the rock, now known as Vivekananda Rock Memorial.

Went in the morning at 6am and the rush was very low. Had an amazing darshan of Devi Kanyakumari. The dress code follows like mens have to br shirtless (bare body) and no such code like jeans or dhoti or anything. For women no such code. After you finish you darshana do have a spectacular view of the sunrise and have so time to give a walk around the premises where you can see triveni sangam and the tsunami memorial point

Good place. I loved the fact that unlike eastern and Northern India they do not force the devotees to buy offerings from them or offer anything to devi. If you want you can, otherwise no one forces you. Male devotees must go bare chest inside temple. Women can wear any traditional cloth. Temple closes in the noon and open in the afternoon again till 8 pm.

Devi Kanyakumari is Goddess Sri Bhagwati in the form of a teenage girl. Also known as Sri Balabhadra and Sri Bala. The goddess is known as "Shakti" (Durga or Parvati). Bhagavathy Temple is located in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. Located at the confluence of the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, this place is on the southern tip of India. Known by many names including Kanya Devi and Devi Kumari. Devotees also worship as Sri Bhadrakali. It is believed that the dedication of the temple was done by Parasurama. It is believed that God is the one who removes the hardness of our mind. Devotees feel tears in their eyes or even in their minds when they pray to the Goddess with devotion and meditation. Devi Kanya Kumari . You can see the sunrise from the east side of the temple and the sunset from the Gandhi Mandapam. Here Kainotakkari is more annoying and will try to tempt them by saying many things, don't fall for such scams.

Good vibes. We visited around 9am, there was no long queue even though it was Sunday morning. There is shops outside to keep footwear, buy prasathams and archana thali ( flowers, coconut, ....).Men can't enter inside temple wearing shirts and t-shirts. And everybody should keep phone on silent mode while darshan.

5 star for ancient temple and God. Illegal money collected to enter by local people. Chappal stand is there to keep foot wear. Temple Poojari gives kumkum to only those who put dakashina in plate. More money more sophisticated way of giving kumkum in banana leaf or just dump in hand. Attitude of Pujaris in Tamil Nadu temples is worst 😑. Need to remove shirt before entering so that pujaris can identify caste by jenevari community and give them special treatment. Horrible practice.

Also called Bhagavathi Amman temple, Kanyakumari. This temple is devoted to goddess Parvati as virgin. It is spread over 2 acres. It is said that goddess Parvati as Kanyakumari killed Banasur here. Temple has been made by cutting rocks. Vivekananda Rock memorial and statue of Tamil poet Tiruvallur which is 85 feet high and 133 feet high from base is also there in the sea 200 meters from the Kanyakumari mandir. Vivekananda Rock memorial is very famous. The same was build by collecting donations from central government, state government and individuals in 1970.

It is believed that the shoulder of the Goddess Sati fell on this site and that is why the region has kundalini shakti. Goddess Kanya Kumari is Goddess Sri Bhagwati in the form of a teenage girl. The Goddess is also known as Shri Bala Bhadra or Shri Bala. I was a little scared after coming here because I had come far away from my home and I did not even know my family and after coming here I came to know that I have come to a paradise. Someone has rightly said this. If you haven't seen the South while living in India, you haven't seen anything.

Kanyakumari temple is dedicated to Godess parvati in her reincarnated swaroop Kanyakumari or kumari Amman . Prasad and shoe collection counter is in the premises. No dress code- just dress modestly. Its quiet old temple and offers amazing architectural aesthetics. Various statues and idols within the temple are carved marvellously. Not much crowded (except on special days) , otherwise all time of the day minimal crowd is there. When in Kanyakumari why skip this place 😜.

One of the holy and important places to visit in kanyakumari. It should be in the number one list in the itinerary for those who visit kanyakumari. It's good to visit early in the morning since it will be much crowded during the day. The temple will close at 12:30 pm and again reopens at 4:30pm. Shirt/t shirt or banyan is not allowed for men devotees, no dress code for women. No rules for bottom wear in men. Good view of Vivekananda Rock memorial from the back side of the temple. Do not forget to visit kanyakumari beach and triveni sangam at the back side of the temple.

Well maintained Hindu religious place. Ancient historical temple. Very peaceful and full of positive energy. Try to see the nose ring. It will take around 10 to 15 minutes for darshan. So do not fall in trap for special darshan. Men are allowed only with bare upper body! Usually crowded. Morning is better time.

This temple is one of the most important Shakti peetams of Tamilnadu. It is also a popular pilgrimage as well as tourist destination. It is located right on the shore. Bhagavathi Amman (an incarnation of Devi Parvathi) meditated here to marry Shiva. When there was a slight hiccup in the plans, she got angry and threw away all the preparations into the sea which is why the beach has various coloured sands stained by Turmeric (haldi/manjal), kunkumam (sindoor) and other items. One unique feature in this temple is the nose ring of Devi which is so lustrous that it caused ships to crash into the shore. The paid queue for darshan is 20 rupees. There is also a free queue available. Parking can be done at the main road. The road in front of the temple is filled with shops and restaurants.
