This well is believed to be constructed during the Shilahar reign. The well is 41 mt. long and has over 84 steps. You can observe intricate carving on the entrance arch. After every 20 steps there is a large step or a landing, where one can rest while ascending or descending the well. The well is constructed using lime and stone joints and still stands solid after 800 years. This well is a part of Karad's land fort named, Pantancha Kot, but unfortunately the fort remains are no longer to be seen. The well is declared as a protected monument by Archeological Survey of India and can be visited only during visiting hours.

It is located inside the residential colony. Avoid visits in hot summers and rains, especially. Evenings here will be great. Around 85 steps to climb down.

Amazing historical place in karad. I was very confused about this place and was searching it for a long time but I get to know that it was superr close to pritisangam karad. It is between a colony and the gates are closed however if you are lucky you will find the gates open thus you can explore it from very close . See my photos I was there with my friends. Go and see this place.

Historical place in Karad. Very neatly well is designed in past centuries. Have better life than other one like preserveness in structure. Also have well 💧 storage capacity. It near Koyana river this one favor to it. I visited in mansoon hence 💧 level higher than other seasons of year. Aquatic life also exist in it. I am eyewitness of seen 3 🐢 who bath in sunlight for getting warm as they are poikilothermic . Water also used for drinking by local people.expect in Rainy season. Well is also used for 🏊 but take permission of local people. Well have highest deepness at near right center from main entrance. Be careful as whole well very deep. Near well a bungalow their for residency at rent. This house is stay for pigeons at early morning and warmy 🌃

A step well created around 1200 BC as part of Panta Kot fort. At deepest part, it reaches 200 meters below the ground. It is not usually open to public. The gates are locked. The premise is surrounded by residential colony which takes away the aura of historical sites. It is still a protected monument ( ANCIENT MONUMENTS AND ARCHAEOLOGICA. SITES AND REMAINS ACT, 1958 (2) OF 1958) though.

This is a beautiful structure. We did get to explore more as the guard didn't come due to the Diwali Holiday. Would love to visit one more time to know more.

This is a place of historical importance and a heritage site. The stepwell is built on the banks of river Krishna and Koyna. It is believed to be built in one night by a ghost. The stepwell is in good condition but the water has dried out leaving only nud in place. The site is usually locked and visitors have to look through the fence. Access to the site is through narrow roads and is located in a fort called Pantacha Kot.
