Warning for all. Never book here! Booked 4 days and stayed only 1. Arrived to a check in process that took over 30 minutes. They assigned beds, upon arriving in the room, the beds were taken by others. Was told to "use another bed". There are 6 beds in a room which already struggles to fit 2 bunk beds. No circulation in the rooms and horrible stenches and noises. Best part was when there were men openly touching them selves with others in the room (one of which was an underage girl). Left the hostel at 1am after being made aware of the sex pest. Immediately booked another hostel which is not much more expensive and was actually very nice. I would recommend anyone, especially women or those with children, never stay here for your own safety!!

Overall, it wasn't a bad place to stay. The room was quite small considering the number of beds, with two single beds placed side by side, taking up most of the space. The lack of personal closets in the room was a weakness of this hostel. On the positive side, it was affordable, the room and services were neatly clean, and the bedding and blankets were tidy.

There is a guest kitchen but the stove DID NOT WORK, also there is no kettle. Please make sure before your stay // at least call them. I had to called them, they knew it wasnt working and told the technician will come later, but it wasn‘t working until the end of my stay.

Can't really say I liked it. Came with friends who had previously stayed at another A&O, so they were happy to return. We were on the 4th floor and the lift was broken. We shared a room with an older man who said he was living there, who went out at weird times during the night and slammed his clothes on the bed (to air them?). I'd be concerned about him sharing with women or children. The room got hot overnight (it was snowing outside!), and on my last night I felt sick. I also didn't understand the cross rail at the top of the ladders, climbing into the bunk beds. I've read other reports complaining about noise from the train lines. That wasn't really a problem in our case. The lounge area was a little more pleasant than the rooms. The trams and S-Bahn are both a 10 minute walk. Walking to the tram stop you get to see a bit of the area and it looks interesting at night. From Laim station you're not too far from the airport or city centre. Despite some things being unpleasant, it wasn't enough to spoil my trip.

It was a terrible cost/benefit. For a hostel that doesn't offer bed sheets nor breakfast, the 33 euros/night that I paid was really a lot. Some rooms are extremely noisy that it's really hard to sleep at night. The sockets were broken so I couldn't charge my phones/power bank. No lockers whatsoever, you just have to leave your stuff and trust otherwise carry everything with you at all times. They offer a whole lot of things for purchase (breakfast, beer, pizza, drinks), all very expensive (downtown prices). Cleanliness was ok. It's relatively far from downtown, although you have the sBahn (Laim/Paring) not very far

We waited very long to get to our rooms, which were being used by another person when we arrived. The room owner came, and later called the hostel security, which without knocking simply broke into our room and checked under the beds for the previous owner's items, which had been collected by the staff.

If you’re not 14 years old, I would recommend paying a little extra for a different place to stay. It felt like a school trip location, crowded with noisy kids. Moreover, if it’s hot outside, the room becomes unbearably hot without air conditioning, and the safety windows only open a few centimeters. The breakfast experience was quite disappointing, as it felt chaotic and resembled animals being fed at a zoo

I am not impressed with the service since check-in everything really slow it take about 1 and half hours in the check-in line with 3 groups of customers. And also check-in and check-out times pretty weird (Check-in 15.00 pm / Check out 10.00 am). I come on Oktoberfest situation and my flight was arrived at 9.00 am and I come to the hotel and waiting about 6 hours without any update from reception. And when the check-in time has come, staff at reception said our Twin room is unavailable we need to take quad room instead, so I paid for something that I didn’t want. When I got in room everywhere is dusty like no one in this room for awhile and all windows open with cold weather, so all room is cold. On the first morning wake up at 9.00 the housekeeper get in our room without notice or anything and she just out quickly when saw us probably and on the door there are nothing about sign. 1 start for good bed and pillows 1 hotel design and nice toilet For another custom that thinking about booking here, if you are not backpacker and want calm stay and nice service you might have to leave this hotel to be the last choice. For the hotel, please manage and fix your service system to be better. Please take this review to make it better. Thanks

Very bad service. Receptionist was unfriendly.Wanted to put me in a dirty room with bad smell. Didn't want to change easily. No soap there. Dorms are very tiny not a 6 bed dorm to be. Not recommended at all. Must see before you book a bed.

Hostel is alright but for the price its a bit dissapointing that they lack padlockable storage within the rooms which is something most other hostels have. Also while they say have a bar when i was there it was only ever staffed by the employee who also had to operate rhe service desk so it was difficult to order anything.

Avoid, serious safety concern. A very weird man came into my wife and I's *private room* in the middle of the night (probably security, he had a key?). Never identified himself but mumbled some nonsense in a very broken German. We felt very unsafe after that, I honestly considered calling the police. Can't imagine how it would feel for women staying alone. Other than that, no hot water at the sixth floor (no pressure, stream cuts off when turning on hot water). All that for >130€/night, absolute joke.

I was assigned a room that was full/unclean; all beds had slept in sheets and items belonging to other travelers. When I inquired with the staff if there was anyway I could be reassigned, they told me to just move other people’s items, which I did not feel comfortable being accountable for nor sleeping in unclean linens. The room was clearly not prepared for new guests. I did not end up spending the night here but what I witnessed was unsatisfactory. I wish I booked somewhere a bit more expensive :( would have been worth it with the price of train tickets to get from this place into town

The design of the lobby and the somewhat convenient location near to the Laim station are the only things almost prevented me from rating this hostel 1 star. Long story short, most elements of this hostel design are outright hostile to solo travelers, especially females, and most of the staff are unfriendly and/or unhelpful. The floorplan of this hostel is a mess. Split between two buildings, with the laundry in a completely different area than is indicated by signage. I had to ask 3 different staff members where to find the laundry before I got proper assistance to find the unlabelled room in a corner of the rear building. The staff was angry that I couldn't find and open the door myself even though the key was kept at reception. When I arrived to the laundry, the floor was flooded with 1-2cm of water and the machines ended up locking with my laundry inside. Neither reception nor the maintenance staff was able to help me, so I had to contact WeWash and the manufacturer of the machines for instructions to remove my clothing. Guest kitchen is in the basement. The staff periodically throws away all food stored there, even food brought by guests that are still staying in the hostel. If you buy food from the bar, it's expensive (10€ for a small frozen pizza) and they were perpetually out of most items. Mixed dorm room included a full/queen bed with a split mattress. The possibility of sharing a bed with a stranger, especially a stranger of the opposite sex, is unacceptable. It was not possible to move the halves of the bed more than 10cm apart. This alone would have been enough to make me not wish to return. The lift was broken, so I had to carry my luggage up and down 5 flights of stairs. Being so close to the train tracks, the noise level in the rooms makes it impossible to sleep with the windows open. No climate control exists, so guests must choose between a comfortable temperature and lower nosie levels in the summer. Shower and toilet were mostly clean, beds were freshly made but did not have all linens provided. Duvet covers and fitted sheets on bunk beds had to be requested at reception. Avoid this hostel, especially if you are a female traveling alone.

I had really bad experience staying in this hotel. I booked twin room for two people, still they gave me the dormitory room which was meant for 6 people. Then why you ask us to book the room well beforehand if you can not provide the actual room. Also the TV in the room was not working. I asked for remote and also the technician but they did not consider this request and the TV did not work for the 3 day stay there. The bathroom and toilet were stinking. I asked them to clean the room since we were going out for the whole day. But wow!! they did not even do that for all the three days. Then please answer A&O team why anyone should come to your hotel. Also we had purchased coupons previously and I tried to book with them. But again they refused even if the rooms were available on the website. Is this is your policy? then why don't you mention this when we buy coupons. Very unreliable and bad service.

Staff pleasant. Rooms clean, but a little cramped. Guest laundry, tiny and overpriced.

  • 3/5 Zuzia R. 2 years ago on Google
Rooms are modern and really comfortable but those ones located next to the railway are impossible to sleep in with windows opened. Breakfasts were basically the same everyday, dinners were decent… although we did receive half frozen food once. Good for a few days stay

Clean rooms, equipped well enough for a short stay. Good value for money, reception is nice and has good beer. However, it was hard to sleep long in the rooms after a party during summer, because if you open the windows you hear the trains 🚂 coming all the time and if you have the windows closed it is getting hot inside 🥵

Stayed here this week with a school party. Not safe. Children located in different parts of the hostel, direct access from the street to rooms. Groups of working single men placed in rooms next to teenage girls. Staff unconcerned and uncooperative when these concerns raised. Very worrying.

The room I and my friend were given wasn't different from staying at the train station (Bahnhof). The hostel is noisy, dirty kitchen facility. Secondly, the hostel staff lack manners, they are bunch of liars. I and my friend were booked for 7 nights, at the 4th night they took all our stuff out without our consents despite having the confirmation which shows we are staying 7 nights.

The rooms were as expected in this hostel/hotel, functional but very basic and dormlike. Don't expect any frills but comfort of beds was fine and the windows offered excellent sound proofing from the main rail line outside. The breakfast was surprisingly varied, plentiful and good quality. The bar area was nice and had a pool table! Staff were friendly. We got the room with a discount offer. As such it offered good value. Good option for families or back packers.

I was stunned to see the arrangements, especially the extra support of the guest kitchen. Perhaps they need to provide more clean pillows as the ones we had, stinks.

The dorms we’re dirty, and had really bad smell. No air condition and it was not possible to open the windows. We were there for two nights, and several guests were in our dorm and the room did not get cleaned once. Don’t sleep at the dorms here!

Nice hostel, polite stuff, good beds and nice rooms. There is a lot of homeless people in hostel lobby, and cleaning lady won't change your sheets after 4-5 days in hostel.

Kirchen does not function. You have to pay €20 to rent a single pan and chopping board. Nothing else in kitchen had to eat with pocket knife. As someone with alergys who chooses places with kitchen it was a horrible week. Don't advertise it if you don't have it. Rooms over yard where noisy and showers clogged. Fine for a couple of nights but any longer go elsewhere. Also beds are pushed up against each other meaning there's a sweaty stranger 19cm away. Yuck!

  • 3/5 Cons 9 months ago on Google
The room was tidy and kept mostly to ourselves as we were in a 5 man group. We had average service (like you'd expect in any normal hotel) but when we arrived the card machine was broken so we were forced to withdraw money to pay for our room. The area is unfortunately quite far out of Munich city centre but it's easily accessible from a train line, a 10 minute walk away, but the area itself isn't the cleanest or safest as during evenings we'd hear shouting and screaming as well as trains as this place is located right next to the main train line.

  • 1/5 Haris C. 8 months ago on Google
The rooms are the worst. They charged more than 500 euros for 3 nights but the rooms are freaking hot and no ventilation. I felt suffocated. The room size is small and cherry on top is they have put a bunk bed as well in the small double bed room for no reason as i booked a double bed room.

This was our first time staying in a hostel as a family and it was great! The room was very clean, there was all the facilities that we needed and it was in a great location. Would recommend

  • 1/5 Marisa S. 7 months ago on Google
If I could give the place zero stars I would. The hotel is located directly next to the train tracks and every few seconds a train drives by, making it almost impossible to sleep, even when the windows are closed. The rooms are horrifyingly small and as a group of six, you can barely move around. The shower was dirty (dirtier than in normal hostels). After just a night all of the ppl in my room had oily hair, eventhough they went to bed with clean and fresh hair. The staff at the reception was nice, however the rest were rude and informal. In the early evening, drunk ppl are in the lobby or are walking around the halls, looking creepily at you, when the rules clearly state that alcohol is prohibited, but the staff doesn't mind this. However the food was fine, but the coffee at breakfast was undrinkable and gross.

Not a great experience. Loud into the early morning hours. Hot rooms and customer service wasn't good when we went to check our and get our fan deposit back. They said to email their administration people as the guy couldn't give our money back as we paid by card. I've had to follow up about this week's later and still haven't got my money back. They've said they won't give our deposit back now either which is unacceptable when I've given a screenshot of our transaction. I hope they don't do this to other customers. Not trusting at all. Wouldn't recommend

When you see the world through rose tinted glasses all the red flags just look like flags, when I peered out of your glass walls (windows) the innocence of my new presence in Munich sweetened the morose realities of what had become an undercover prison. Confined by rental obligations to the 4 beige walls shared by snores and grunts, the tinnitus of rhythm of fellow inmates keeps me in hold like Chinese water torture. In summary, yeaaaaa it's decent.

Working for Economic crimes group. Free vacations, free pizzeria n money paid. Wrong people r intentionally injected into my room. Smoking cigarettes, ganja, just now smoked. The worst behaviour, saying get out of hostel. ( So that i can not do my work properly). Since my landing in june 5, it is the same. I am bearing due to my situation. No 20% was introduced to me. Even i made card, for last 2 bookings not applied. Switching of heater, wantedly stopping cleaning inside room, just a greeting from cleaning staff is, ,WEG,, TSCHUSS by entering room. Just they open rooms door a bit n hit make noise n go. I am staying, here because of my court n office issues. I experienced everywhere these groups. But now in this hostel too. To show the staff are wrong, they are messing with all guests.... One type woke me up at midnight n playing ISIS music. Heating is off. During night these persons open windows. These are purposefully injectd by staff. And definitely earning a lot of , life settling money for these doings. I may shift to Hackerbucke, n see how it will be there.

It was a bad decision to come to this A&O. The room service is horrible, the room hasn’t been cleaned from the past 2 days. No toilet papers in the room. The management is so poor that they sent 2 males in an all girls room. How bad is that? Doesn’t even deserve a single star rating

  • 1/5 Thayná B. 2 years ago on Google
I‘m really disappointed with A&O. I have stayed in this hostel many many times, not only this in Laim but also the other two in Munich, one in Venice Italy and always recommended it to friends and I myself always think of A&O when thinking of booking a hostel. Basically I booked a shared room, it said 6 dorm beds it showed me a spacious room and I thought it would be ok during corona times. Ended up being a small 4 beds room with a coughing lady inside. I swear, If I leave this hostel without corona I am a survivor. I just hope she is not here in quarentine :( The two single beds were dirty, people used and no one cleaned. The lady informed me there was no housekeeping service in the last 3 days. I called someone from reception and they just took the dirty bed sheets away, no desinfection, no cleaning, 0. Other girls on the floor had the same problem and were waiting for cleaning staff. Not to mention that when I checked in, I said I was fully vaccinated but nobody confirmed If I was telling the truth. I regret coming to A&O and was really close to screaming and asking for my money back. Don’t waste your money coming here, prices are good but the concept of hygiene they sell doesn’t exist.

This hostel is very clean with friendly staff. It's priced very budget friendly. It's simple furnishings we're clean and comfortable. It's a 13 minute walk to the train but there are plenty of bikes and scooters along the way to rent. Plenty of food options around, a beer garden across the street. The Muller bakery about a 10 minute walk is a must for coffee and breakfast. I'm so grateful to have found this place to stay with my family.

Uncomfortable for families, singing and bustle of 3am not being able to sleep I went down and told the receptionist. Parking was not secured A group of young people were drinking between cars. I would not recommend it at all, neither for families nor respectable youth.. .You can compensate us for the nights in which my family and I did not sleep for two nights, even the receptionist as if he witnessed that at 3 am. And if the car park is safe. If you want compensation.

This is a great place to stay for a night or two. Don’t expect Air bnb kind of room. But this is really good for one night stay. Breakfast and lunch is decent, you get everything at one place bit expensive. But i guess it will be max 1 or 2 euro savings if you eat outside. Students or a group of 3 to 4 ppl who is travelling to munich for 1 or 2 days, I guess then this would be the best bet stay for the price. We were grp of 5 ppl with 6 bed dorm room costing us 22 euros per head.

가지마세요 당신의 혈압은 소중합니다 SCAM WARNING WORST EXPERIENCE EVER I booked private room and paid more, but they insisted to pay another 150EUR or stay in shared room. We arrived (2 adults and 2 minors) at 6am + from our international flight. We had to wait until noon to get a room, the wait was very long but at least there was a comfortable couch in the lobby. Once in our room I was impressed that it was actually clean, had enough wall outlets, sufficient bodywash, etc; even though this is a hostel with no stars and it was better than the four star hotel we stayed at in Greece before we came to Munich. $130 to renew for a second night, oh! Breakfast is included! Overall happy with this place, I'd stay here again, I recommend it.

Good place, at a hand to the S bahn station laim. Beds were told to not be chosen by ourselves, however, this rule was broken by the others that came before me: but I don't consider this as a minus. Also, personal was kind to me to keep my bag in their luggage room until my bus arrived to take me. Ah, yeah, one star is down because visitors made a lot of noise even after the allowed hours of night.

Customer service at this hostel was unbelievably poor. I paid via the website prior to my stay, but the hostel on site did not have this information and told me I needed to pay again. Their solution was for me to call the customer service line. The customer service line was not able to help me, and said they could refer me to bookkeeping to fix the problem, but that it will take time. I never heard back from bookkeeping (at the time), and every time I complained to somebody about the terrible service, I was reminded how big AO hostels is and how many guests they have, as if that should be an acceptable excuse. With enough pushing, I finally managed to get through to a manager who would accept my documentation of the payments made. I did finally receive an email from bookkeeping...77 days, 12 hours, and 2 minutes after my initial contact. I will never again consider a stay with AO Hostels.

Despite there was an discount available on my group, I was charged the full price. With the full price (227 euros for two nights) I would expect a better experience. The wall was dirty with coffee spots, the heating was at the maximum and was not possible to adjust, toilet smells smoke and also shower was leaking. Breakfast was ok, but forcs, knifes and dishes were also not clean. Reception polite e friendly, but overloaded.

Bom hotel. Apesar da distância do centro, It is easy to take public transport. The main means of transport, metro, is a 10-minute walk away, there is a bus stop in front. Clean and spacious rooms. There is an ATM inside the hostel. Cons: Broken laundry. Simple breakfast. There’s no air conditioning, it’s hot. That’s it. They change towels every 3 days. I would stay there again.

When we called they said that we could stay 8 people in the same room but once we arrived they said that it was not possible and put us in 2 rooms. Moreover, 3 on 4 magnetic keys they gave us continued not opening the door of our room even after making them be checked 5-6 times by the staff who kept saying that they were active and didn't know how to solve the problem

  • 5/5 Elizabeth H. 1 year ago on Google
I was very impressed with the room setup. It's ideal for families with kids. The toilet and shower are separate, so you can still use the restroom if someone is taking a shower. The only drawback was that someone had left their used fake eyelashes on the bed frame, and this was not picked up by housekeeping 🤮. Other than that, the room cleanliness was okay. The map doesn't show this very well, but you can walk from here through a short tunnel and I to the park area of town. It was about a 15-minute walk to excellent restaurants too. There is a playground nearby (about a 10-minute walk), which was a very clean and safe feeling. The parking was cheap and so was breakfast. In the breakfast area, there is a small kids play area, which was a godsend because our toddler dispises table eating at the moment. The lobby also has a kids' play area and some vending/food options. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

Very average hostel. The room smelled like cigarettes. The flush of the toilet was not working well and keep filling so making a lot of noise at night.

They didn't provide a sheet. The staff mentioned they were working on providing it, but unfortunately, there wasn't enough available. With only one night, another issue was that some guests were drunk, making it difficult for me to sleep. Perhaps they should consider notifying guests on the proper way to stay.
