Newly opened, this beautiful gallery pays tribute to James Simon who contributed massively to Museum Island. The New building serves as an entrance to the museums, ticketing center, Cafe, centralized giftshop, exhibition space and auditorium. The entrance is beautiful with the minimalist architecture with beautiful views from inside. Organized plenty of lockers for usage during your visit.

This beautiful building will be a unique addition to museum island. Named after one of berlin's most prolific benefactors. A very fitting tribute indeed to a very great man Update July 2019. Having attended the opening as a guest I was blown away by the attention to detail, a perfect occasion to honour James Simon my great grandfather.

I’ve just walked around the gallery and the modern design surprised me a lot because it’s so gorgeous, beautiful and bright. I didn’t see inner design and the exhibition inside but I think it’ll be a good place to sunbathe and take a rest while visiting Berlin

(Translated by Google) Visually, the columns are very nice. But the front building in front of the Spree is very unattractive. Just a wall. Also hides the beautiful view of the New Museum. What this building looks like in 10 years ... for me an extension that has failed. James Simon doesn't do it justice.

Beautiful, minimalistic and restraint piece of contemporary architecture in the “Museum Insel” by architect David Chipperfield. The building serves as the new entrance to the museum complex with visitors services. It echoes classical architecture with its long balaustrades and the entrance stairway as if it was a new Acropolis propylaeum.

Outstanding architecture! It's worth visiting this gallery. There is no admission. There are some smal exhibitions and a museum shop that you can visit which costs you around 15 minutes.

(Translated by Google) To Gallery I can not say anything yet, but the staircase is great! Especially at night ? The modern architecture fits perfectly into the classicist style of the Museum Island - that's world class! Does not conserve, but continues to write and develop, integrates and yet succeeds independently and independently! Alone therefore the James Simon Gallery is worth a visit. Chapeau the architect (s)!

Great comtemporary architecture that feels at home between majestic buildings from over 2 centuries ago. The project and functions are very interesting. A must see for any architecture enthusiast that visits the Museum Island of Berlin. Would recommend this place!

(Translated by Google) Connecting the Museum Island! The great view of Chipperfield's new building was from the Humboldt Box at the new city palace (my photo). The museum buildings - starting from Schinkel with what is now the "Old Museum" to the "Bode Museum" by Ernst von Ihne as a conclusion, are thereby connected and developed as a European cultural heritage, which is followed by the Humboldt Forum for non-European cultures : the Humboldt brothers would have been happy!

This pretentious, impractical building has been so badly thought out and is run in so inept and unfriendly a manner that you wonder if you have not been transported to some post-communist dictatorship and you keep instinctively looking for the golden monumental statue of its great leader. The only good thing that can be said about the guards is that they do not have machine guns. As to temporary exhibitions, these take place in some kind of cramped, unmarked and unsignalled closet lost somewhere in the building. The bookshop, if you manage to find it, is well stocked and worth a visit.

absolutely horrendous customer service. I must say I was shocked to wait over 30 minutes for a ticket because only one kiosk was operating. The ticket that I had wanted ran out, so I kindly asked to buy just one. The staff gave me a ticket for a museum I did not ask for. He then said he could not change it and only gave me my money back after I raised my voice and was frankly close to tears. Horrendous, honestly. Literally ruined my day.

New entrance building connecting the Neues Museum and the Pergamom Museum. Very cold architecture, bad details (lamps at the stairs sides) and worse furniture selection (see the umbrellas in the terrace) although big budget. Very disappointing.

James Simon Gallery is a prosperous museum/ gallery. It’s quite pretty from the inside or outside. I went to the “Iran” Exhibition, which I enjoyed. Though, there could have been more explanations for people who are not very familiar with the topic. I would have wished to see a logical timeline or something like that, in order to keep up with the given information.

There was an exhibition about Uzbekistan. Quite interesting but not spectacular. The gallery itself has some big exhibition rooms but it also offers entrance to 'Neues Museum ' and 'Pergamoon'. That can be convenient to beat the ques at their official entry points.

Architektonisch so lala, gibt schlimmeres.

Beautiful building! Went to the Iranian exhibition - the rooms were really not well ventilated (air was clammy) and we kept being followed by the guard, which annoyed and distracted us. One wall with ceramics could've had better lighting. The expo was nice overall!

altogether a great experience, very interesting and you could spend the entire day there since the building is huge and again many interesting things to see BUT the staff was partially very rude. the first man approached me in a very insensitive tone and told me that i’d have to wrap my jumper around my hips. i just didn’t understand what difference it made if i don’t wear it on my shoulders but instead wrapped around my hip(?) so i asked him nicely what the logic behind all that was. he answered: “well first it looks ugly when you wear it on your shoulders like that” WHO TF do u think you are my man to tell me how to dress????? “second of all that’s just the rules if you don’t want to follow them go in, you’ll be sent away anyway.” and you know i don’t have a problem following rules AS LONG AS YOU TALK TO ME IN A RESPECTFUL MANNER but this man was just extremely rude. museum and gallery were amazing tho.

(Translated by Google) Where's the foresight? Unfortunately, planning often lacks foresight and thus a look into the future. This applies to infrastructure such as roads and a specific airport. On a rainy Sunday, it is immediately noticeable that the building's capacity is insufficient. People crowd in the entrance area and the many too narrow aisles of the lockers. The queue was uncoordinated and there was no digital information at all. People waited 3 hours at the ticket counter without indicating on the information board that everything was already almost sold out, which could be inquired at a information counter that was much too small. We got coffee for € 4 in the café from unskilled and overworked waiters who were served after we got a seat.

You are not allowed to enter museums if you buy the "museum island ticket " - it's a waste of money and tourists trap ticket. Buy separate tickets to separate museums.

Cool addition to the Museumsinsel. If you are planning to visit the island, whethe yiu got your tickets online or not, you can directly come here and receive plenty useful info, eat/drink at the lovely cafe, use toilets, lockers or the cloak room. Within you have access to Neues museum and Pregamon museum. Also a very nice/big shop, with plenty of books related to wxhibitions/history/cultures and art. Also there was a special extra exhibition when I visited, check them out too!

The museum and exhibition were expectacular and amazing but the service at the cafe Shop at the James Simon Gallery specially by one member in particular was dreadful. She approached us on a patronising manner without any greetings, mentioning she spoke Spanish and she could understand us. She told us we had to have patience because the cafe was very busy, when we asked her for an empty glass to share a bottle of water she said that this was Not a Mcdonalds and wouldnt give us another glass and her general demeanor was despective. We did complain to the manager which was very helpful, nice and understandable.
