At the foot of the Himalayas, Chitwan is one of the few remaining undisturbed vestiges of the 'Terai' region, which formerly extended over the foothills of India and Nepal. It has a particularly rich flora and fauna. One of the last populations of single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros lives in the park, which is also one of the last refuges of the Bengal tiger.

Not a pleasant experience. Our Vehicle entered at 2-30 PM. We saw some parrots, back of two Rhinos fading away in long grass, Wild boar from long distance and one Domesticated elephant. Didn't expect this after seeing so many videos. Vehicle came out at 5-00 PM, just after 2 hrs 30 Minutes. Guide was silent most of the time. He was not very knowledgable either.

(Translated by Google) ♥ Chitwan National Park is the first and oldest national park in Nepal. It was established in 1973. The park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1984. It has an area of 952.63 km2 (367.81 square miles). Its elevation ranges from 100 m (330 ft) in the Lower River Valley to 815 m (2,674 ft) in the Chure Hills. [1] Rich in biodiversity, the park is located in the Central Terai of Nepal. The main office of this park is located in Kasara, so all kinds of administrative work is done from Kasara. Until 1951, hunting was very popular among the then rulers of the Chitwan Valley. Which later took the form of a national park. The city near the main gate of Chitwan National Park is at a distance of 10 kilometers from Bharatpur. To visit the park, one can enter Bharatpur via Tandi by road and daily flights are available at Bharatpur Airport. Chitwan National Park, the heart of the jungle until the 19th century, was a favorite hunting ground of Nepal's ruling classes in winter. Until the 1950s, travel from the southern part of Nepal to Kathmandu was very difficult, so forest passers-by camped here for months to hunt tigers, bears, rhinos, and leopards. Expanded to 1,000 square miles) and was home to about 800 rhinos. When the poor peasants moved from the mid-hills to the Chitwan Valley in search of arable land, they settled here by clearing forests and poaching became widespread. In 1957, the country's first conservation law enacted the law to protect rhinos and their habitats. In 1959, Edward Pritchard G. conducted a survey in which he recommended a trial period of ten years to conserve the northern Rapti River and wildlife in the region. Recommended to expand the southern region. By the end of the 1960's, 70% of the forests had been cleared by DDT and thousands of people had settled there, bringing the number of rhinos inside to 95. Due to the dramatic decline in rhino numbers and increasing poaching, the government set up a rhino patrol team consisting of 130 armed men and a network of security centers to patrol all parts of Chitwan. Chitwan National Park was demarcated in 1970 to prevent rhino poaching, and an area of 544 km2 (210 sq mi) was initially added in 1973. [5] Maintained by spreading over. In 1997, a 766.1 km2 (295.8 sq mi) intermediate zone was added between the north and west of the Narayani-Rapti river system and the southeastern boundary of the park, as well as the international border with India. The park is especially famous for its one-horned rhino and Pate tiger. The park is home to 43 species of mammals, 450 species of birds, 45 species of aquatic and reptiles, and more than 100 species of fish. Major mammals found here include deer, chitals, monkeys and baboon monkeys. Chitwan is a place of high rainfall along with the tropical monsoon climate throughout the year. Due to its location in the central Himalayan climate, the monsoon in this region starts from mid-June and decreases in late September. During this 14-15 week period, it receives more than 2500 mm of rainfall annually. In the southern region of Nepal, the jungles of Chitwan National Park await you with wildlife experiences like no other. Go in search of the majestic Royal Bengal tiger and watch the Greater one-horned rhinoceros roam free, while the great Asiatic elephants move about the jungles in herds.  Chitwan National Park is the closest and the ideal place to go for wildlife safari. Witness real wilderness in the jungles of Chitwan: go for a jeep safari in the depths of the forest or ride a silent canoe and catch wildlife by surprise. Go for a jungle walk accompanied by an experienced guide who knows the jungle like the back of his hand.

Chitwan national park is very famous & popular site for international as well as domestic tourists. It has been listed in UNESCO world heritage site. A lot of hotels & tourist facilities are at small town called Sauraha at northern bank of Rapti river. View of Sunset from the River bank is amazing. In evening Tharu (local ethnic people) Cultural Show is shown at nearby hall in Sauraha. They offer about 4 hours of jeep safari in jungle south of Rapti river, about an hour of elephant safari in western community forest & about an hour of wooden boat (canoe) riding on eastern river. Elephant safari is most popular & shouldn't miss. If lucky you may see one horned rhino easily. Elephant breeding center is also a good visit. Recently umbrella street is getting popular & you may see a lot of people taking photos & selfies.

Beautiful park with so many different types of animals. We weren’t able to see any tigers or cobras but we were able to see crocodiles, monkeys, spotted deer, bison, elephants, and many different types of birds. We even saw one rhinoceros just stroll into Sauraha while we were enjoying our evening there. Absolute must visit if you’re an animal lover.

We booked a Jeep Safari. I know this safari barely covered much of the national park since it is huge but it was still worth it to see the beauty of the deep forest, floras, faunas and sometimes spotting animals.

Chitwan Park is definitely worth to visit if you are traveling to Nepal. You can spend several days here and relax after your trek in Himalayas. It’s nice and worm but very humid. You can a find a very nice hotel with swimming pool for reasonable price and great service. Make sure you get a hotel at the river side. If you are lucky, you can spot some wild life early in the morning. We started our day by taking a boat trip and watching crocodiles. You can see many of them all around you. It’s a bit creepy since the boat is just a huge piece of tree and it looks like it’s going to sink at any time but it’s fun 

Chitwan National Park is one of the most famous and best preserved national parks in Asia and the first national park in Nepal. If anything is clear is that Chitwan has nothing to do with the high mountains, cold and snow that surround it. Its jungle vegetation and fauna make it one of the most exotic and full of diversity and color of the country, hence the translation of its name is "heart of the jungle". The tour of the park can be done quickly in a comfortable all-terrain vehicle, on the back of a great elephant along the trails, crossing the rivers in a canoe or walking along the trails accompanied by a guide to discover all the secrets hidden in this wild place. All the routes allow you to discover the most beautiful and impressive corners of the park, as well as to visit some of the indigenous communities of the Tharu ethnic group that live in the surrounding areas.

Lots of wildlife are here like the Royal Bengal tiger. It is famous for Bird watching too. We can access the park through the jeep safari. You will never regret the visit.

An amazing national park! Beautiful rivers, lakes, forests and plenty of wildlife to see. There were lots of elephants, some being looked after, some wild and some being used for elephant rides. The rhinos were fantastic, as well as the water buffalo. We even managed to catch a glimpse of a sloth bear. The safari was simply amazing and a great choice, as it was a great way to see more of the national park. I would highly recommend going on safari in Chitwan if you are visiting Nepal.

This was pretty interesting. The guide will walk you through and tells you many interesting facts about the park and animals. We saw some rhinos, lizards, fallow deers. Make sure you wear long sleeves, pants and ankle boots. Use some repelent as well. Then you can rent a jeep or elephant for safari. I suggest the jeep since I feel sorry for the elephants. The elephant ride is long, very bumpy and uncomfortable. You have to watch out so you don’t get hit by trees all the time. We were all bruised and scratched.

Nestled at the foot of the Himalayas, Chitwan has a particularly rich flora and fauna and is home to one of the last populations of single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros and is also one of the last refuges of the Bengal Tiger. Chitwan National Park (CNP), established in 1973, was Nepal’s first National Park. Located in the Southern Central Terai of Nepal, it formerly extended over the foothills, the property covers an area of 93,200 hectares, extends over four districts: Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Parsa and Makwanpur. The park is the last surviving example of the natural ecosystems of the ‘Terai’ region and covers subtropical lowland, wedged between two east-west river valleys at the base of the Siwalik range of the outer Himalayas. The core area lies between the Narayani (Gandak) and Rapti rivers to the north and the Reu River and Nepal-India international border in the south, over the Sumeswar and Churia hills, and from the Dawney hills west of the Narayani, and borders with Parsa Wildlife Reserve to the east. In 1996, an area of 75,000 hectares consisting of forests and private lands and surrounding the park was declared as a buffer zone. In 2003, Beeshazar and associated lakes within the buffer zone were designated as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention.

My favourite place in Chitwon. A peaceful place inside the forest with amazing view of beautiful lake. Reflection of the sky and trees on the lake is really awesome. Don't miss to see the crocodiles sleeping on the other side of the lake. They seem like wooden pieces. Must visit place.

Chitwan was amazingly beautiful. I got ready for the Wildlife Safari and headed to see the Wildlife by around 8:00 AM, Interestingly I thought the Safari would be on Jeep or on forest department vehicle but it turned out to be on an Elephant back, actually it was my first ever wildlife tour on an Elephant back and for me it was quite an adventure – I got to see quite a number of animals such as Rhinocerous, Deer, Samba, Leopard, Elephants, Crocodile etc. Here are some of the moments I could capture…, Definitely worth a Visit.

Just sort of words to describe how amazing this place is. If you want an experience of wildlife, this has got to be on your bucket list. The best season to visit is March, April and May. That is when you expect to see a lot of wildlife in front of you. But don't worry if you are planning it sometime else. I clicked these pictures around January, so yeah its just as good but the only downside is you get to see less animals as compared to the seasonal period. P.S: DO NOT miss Jungle Safari and Boating!!

I do highly recommend the Jugle walk at least for a day to experience it. You wont get this opportunity any other place. We can also set out for multiple day walks but camping is not prohibited inside the park. Talk to your hotels or agents to organize multiple day walks.

Its a vast area of jungle, wildlife, adventure and sightseeing. People who travel to Chitwan, will definitely go to this national park in hope to see rare striped tiger 🐅 via elephant ride 🐘 or jungle safari. Apart from this people also enjoy boat ride in Narayani-Rapti river to see crocs and alligators 😮 sun basking and different species of birds as well. They can also enjoy seeing deers, antelopes, rhinos, wild boars, wild hen, and monkeys among others 🦌🐃🐗🦏🐓🦚🐢🐍🐊🏵🌱🌿🌻

Beautiful park. We explored the park in different ways. We had a boat ride and saw a lot of beautiful birds, crocodiles and boars. When we explored in the afternoon by jeep we saw 1 rhino, birds and peacocks. But the most luck we had was in the early morning when we explored with 2 rangers. We saw elephants, rhinos, boars, deer. It was so peaceful. We also walked past some abandoned lodges.

The Chitwan National Park was established in 1973 to protect this natural habitat from poachers, which was running rampant prior to the creation of the Park. This Park was also recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The Park is large at about 360 square miles in size and is quite beautiful with lush vegitation and with a picturesque river that runs through the Park. Our small group tour had stayed at the nearby Temple Tiger Green Jungle Resort for two (2) nights, where we had two (2) half-day jeep excursions from the Resort to the Park covering the western-side on the first half-day trip and the eastern side on the second half-day excursion. For our small tour group, the Resort had provided two (2) of their tour jeeps and certified Park tour guides for each jeep. The Chitwan National Park offers a variety of flora and fauna. Do not miss the jeep safari and especially the elephant safari. We were lucky to see a few rhinos, Gharial crocodiles, peacock, wild bore, spotted deer, buck deer, and lots of amazing colourful birds. The elephant safari was a memory to be cherished for the rest of your life. It's adventurous and thrilling. The elephant bathing was a fun too. You are allowed to go round the buffer zone of the forest only. We had a great time and saw so much wild life inclding wild Rhinos (11) and Wild Elephants and Crocodiles - Tons of amazing birds as well - Get a good guide - Our helped us find a sleeping Rhino

Great place. Has a lot of tourists but administration and local people have still managed to preserve the beauty and natural attractions of the place. Did a canoe ride here. It was an amazing experience. Very calm and soothing. Saw many birds and crocodiles and alligators. Got lucky to see the one horned rhinoceros (the reason this place is famous) crossing the river right in front of us! Didn't do the jeep ride because you get to do it in almost all the conserved areas. Also, pollution (both sound and air) is not good for these areas and the animals in it. One major attraction of this place and probably the only conserved area with it, is the jungle walk which is done here. Would recommend that.

A wonderful national park at the south of the country, next to the borders with India. Established in 1973, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984, and home to so many amazing species. It covers a huge area of 953 square klm and it is visible by tourists. The most famous animals are deers, crocodiles, rhinoceros, elephants and tigers, although the latter is considered a very rare site. The fauna and flora that is preserved and protected covers thousands of species. There is also an elephant breeding center. In the park you enter only with a guide and you can go walking, canoeing, jeep or elephant safari.

Such an amazing place! We spotted a lot of deers, peacocks, langur, rhinos, elephants and so many different birds, but the most of it the beautiful color of kingfish birds. We are so lucky we also spotted slothbear. We spend a night in a tower to catch the tiger, but then we spotted lots of gharials, chilled next to the river bank. Have a lot of insights about Gharial from our guide, Ganesh. No doubt if we gonna come back here again and explores more in the National Park. Highly recommended place to stay and to arrange this beautiful private safari and night stay in the tower, is Happy Lemon Tree Lodge. The place is really close to the river bank and couple of night before we left the Chitwan and go back to Kathmandu, we spotted a couple of leopard. Really amazing!

Different species of plants, birds, animals can be observed in here. i have privileged to go in summer as well as in winter. In summer, there is long elephant grass which blocks the animals especially Rhino but it is spread to only certain place. And during summer we can't see lots of animal from what i have observed. So, i went back to park on winter and i have to say it was worth. i did see lots of animals, migrated and other various birds. The tour is also more fun because it's neither too hot nor too cold during winter afternoon. And the guides there are very friendly.

We went by road from Kathmandu, then the canoe was waiting for us, that will took us across the river to meet our final guide, who leads us on a 10 minute walk through butterfly gardens to an oasis of huts, elephant rides, nature walks, and a full bar/restaurant, which make up the Island Jungle Resort. After the use of a plane, car, canoe and your own two feet, you are finally here. Island Jungle Resort is one of the best resorts in Chitwan. We can see excellent view of Jungle and all the activities are awesome. friendly staff, guide is perfect for the jungle activities So this is the right place to stay in Chitwan we highly recommend this place to visitors. They have elephant back jungle safari . This was very good as we spent hours in the jungle on the back of the elephant spotting various animals like Rhino, Deers, etc. This is a must do activity and we enjoyed a lot. The other enjoyable inactivity was Elephant bathing .. It's quit, peace and beautiful place .And foods are great. We saw many different birds and animals during boating, jungle walk and safari. Hotel guide and other staff are very friendly. was wonderful experience for our team. Thank you so much island jungle resort team.

National parks are areas of great natural beauty giving opportunity for open-air recreation, established so that national beauty can be preserved and enhanced, and so that the enjoyment of the scenery by the public can be promoted''. This is the aim of the National Parks established by the government, and although a brilliant idea in theory, the above statement has posed a series or serious problems. Is it possible for the National Parks to be enjoyed by the general public whilst also preserving the beauty and peace of these places? Are the National Parks loved to death? Let us focus on The Lake District, where this conflict of interests is most apparent. The Lake…show more content… As a result of this 60% of industry in the Lake Districtis tourism related. Unfortunately the tourism is seasonal, and come winter time when less people are visiting the area, most income is reduced and business is highly unreliable. Many tourists wish to buy holiday homes in the area, meaning that locals can no longer afford the property prices and are being forced to live elsewhere. Meanwhile, the problem of seasonal population increases. But the townspeople are reliant on the income from tourism. These small villages and towns which are aimed for the tourist trade are known as 'honey pots' (as in bees to honey), and face more problems aside from property prices. The roads in these small areas can't cope with the numbers of people travelling to the Lake District(which is close to the M6) in cars. The car parks and coach parks fill up by 11 am. The traffic fills the towns with noise pollution and air pollution. The people leave the roads in bad condition. And then the tourists visit the mountains and walks and the problem grows.

Out of two unesco natural world heritage site of Nepal. The first national park of Nepal was established in 1973 and it was listed in world heritage site of Nepal in 1984 at the terai belt . Located in Chitwan district of Nepal hence the name itself is Chitwan National Park. It covers an area of 952 square KM. We can reached chitwan by air or by surface approximately (180 km) depends on the hotel location. Which is about 4 to 5 hour drive from Kathmandu. This is the one of the popular destination for the wildlife lover. Jungel activeties like nature walk, elephant back safari, bird watching and jeep safari is highlights of this national park. The two nights 3 days hotel packages are offer by almost every hotel located outside this national parks. The touristic hub of Chitwan is known as Sauraha where almost hotels and tourism services are located. The most popular arena of this park is Royal bengal tigers, One horn Rhino, balck bear, leopards, wild boars wild, deers, elephants and migrants birds from different countries. As per my experience this is very strange, one who come to see Rhino will encounter by Tigers and those who come to see Tigers will encounter by Rhino or others animals. In search of Royal bengal tigers i must suggest March april is the best time to explore because in the winter it will be foggy so can't see anything clearly. Some of my collection i have uploaded hope you will enjoy it.

Nice park, but we didn’t see many animals. The Jeep safari was 5 hours, too long. The guides we had almost said nothing about the park, only pointed a few birds to us. The guide who is serving during jungle walk is much better. But I feel because we negotiate the price , so guide doesn’t really want to make efforts anymore. So this is the touristic place thing. Except that the national park is nice to walk, and canoeing a is beautiful experience as well.

Chitwan National Park is a nature lover's paradise that offers an unforgettable experience. The jungle safari in particular is a thrilling adventure, as visitors can witness the beauty of the park's rivers, lakes, and forests, as well as an abundance of wildlife. During my visit, our experienced guide led us through the park and knew exactly when and where the bears would appear. And we spotted two bears while returning from safari. Overall, Chitwan National Park is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature and witness the wonders of the animal kingdom.

There are lots of type of tour they offer and we took 2 hours tour. Luckily we saw different types of animals and the famous was Rhino. Better you take elephant ride rather then jeep safari as you won’t be able to enjoy much in jeep and feel natural experience of going inside the biggest natural park. Also make early morning ride as it would be cool weather and you won’t be exhausted. Elephant rider was very good and young but most of them hardly speaks English. I wish they could be train to speak English too.

I visited this place at the beginning of summer. The safari starts of with us first having to cross a river in a narrow boat which last for five minutes and is fun! We then walk over to the jeeps waiting for us and the safari begins. Our batch of folks did not get to spot very many animals, perhaps it was late afternoon! We did see a one horned rhino, peacocks, and sloth bear. I found the crocodile breeding project very informative. You can find both Gharials and Marsh Muggers ( types of crocodiles) up close. Hats off to their efforts in taking care of the endangered Gharials where their eggs are brought to the center for incubating safely in captivity. I learnt that their mortality rate is very high - about 99%, and categorized as critically endangered. The safari lasted for 4 hours (1 PM to 5 PM). I would recommend going for the early morning ones if they are available. I guess chances are higher to spot the elusive Bengal Tiger!

Chitwan National Park which was my recent visit was established in 1973 and first National Park of my country Nepal. It is only 88 km away from capital Kathmandu as spread over Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Parsa and Makwanpur district.Listed at UNESCO world heritage site at 1984 because of its diversity in wildlife and its habitat. One can witness various animals and birds by jungle safari. Flight is also accessible to Bharatpur from ktm. I highly recommend you all to once in lifetime travel to Chitwan National Park to see true wilderness.

Nice park, but I felt like that weren’t that many tree around, may be it’s been way. My expectation from the guide was so high of possibility to see the animals, but when I went there were hardly any animal beside 🦌 deers and some birds. Tiger was nowhere to be found. Luckily right before I left, we passed by 2 🦏 rhinos. A few peacocks🦚. The weather in April was so hot and jazzy, hardly could see what in front of the car.

Highly recommended to do a tour with a jeep. Hundreds of deers. If you are lucky enough, there are also rhinos and tigers

Went for the 4 hours safari but due to the high grass there’s nothing much to be seen, luckily during the jungle walk I managed to see some rinos. Elephant breeding center is abit depressing but you gotta so what you need to do.

le parque est tres bien but if you do deep safari is used jeep very noisy 4 h i see really really lucky one tiger one rhinoceros en 4 h no is good don’t do better make canoe 16 h 45 minutes but is very quieter you see a lot bird and crocodile may be not if lucky

  • 5/5 Saksham K. 4 months ago on Google
Suggestion: take a elephant ride in the morning or evening. In this time the animal walk around for food so you might encounter one at that time.

Was super excited to visit Chitwan park, however, we almost were done with the safari without seeing any rhinos or tigers. Right before leaving the safari the tour guide got a call and we drove straight up to see one rhino, which was very nice. As it turns out, spotting tigers in this park however is very rare, for example, a guide who’s been going there for 10 years, seen a tiger only twice. There are other parks you should visit if you want to see tigers.

Chitwan National Park is in Chitwan ,Nepal. It is most underrated tourist place among all the tourist place in the Nepal . Maximum people only stay one night in Chitwan. According to me one must stay minimum two nights to enjoy the Chitwan. The night life in Chitwan is very enjoyable. Many Resturent open Resturent only open in the night time only . In this Resturents one can do camp fire or just sit in a armchair in the riversite while enjoying the candel light dinner. If Some one want they can also play the guitar or sing a song. In Chitwan National Park there are many kind of safari like inside Park safari, buffer zone safari, In / out safari. The safari I choose it cost 1040 Nepalese Rupees. Dont except to see Tiger in the jungle safari in the Chitwan National Park which is also clearly tell by Guide. Rihno, crocodile, deer can be seen in the safari.Jungle Walk, Elephant Riding, Night Stay at watch Tower, Special Bird watch in Chitwan National Park is also available. Nepal' s one and only Elephant Breeding Center is in Chitwan National Park, which is also open for tourist. The only bad thing is for tourist amusement the core area is getting destroy by business person ,they light up high power light , play the DJ and loud musics , making more hotels and bars ,all of these thing distroy Silence of the Jungle which also the beauty of a jungle and also disturb the Animals.
