Fabulous. Really do not think coming into a bar. Thought I was breaking into someone’s house ! Locals showed me the door! Staff really friendly and mixed great old fashioned. Japanese wine good and have fabulous range of whisky. Ok it’s not cheap but nothing is cheap about this place.

Hidden gem! I have never seen a barman with such a perfection to details, it‘s unbelievable😀 He definitely knowns what he‘s doing, and even though they don‘t have a menu, the barman will create you every cocktail! Highly recommend!!!

There is no menu it’s all by order but they can make anything if they have the ingredients. The owner was a former bartender at the Ritz Carlton in Nara and whipped up anything we asked for. While we stopped in he was our bartender and spent so much time with us talking about Nara and Japan generally. Finding the bar was fun too, kind of like a Japanese speak easy. Cannot recommend it enough!!!

The place looks great. Cocktails are good. The staff is really nice. Worth the try. The only downside is the price.

No menu at this place, but no problem. The bartender will take care of you. The master is very knowledgeable about Japanese whiskies, and is an expert bartender capable of coming up with cocktails on the fly. Loved everything he made. Thank you very much!

Bravo! This was definitely a highlight of our trip. The secret location, the mind-blowing bar and collection of spirits, and of course the superior skills, creativity and attention to detail of master Tanaka and his staff turned this into a unique experience. I am not a bar fan. But I am a Bar Savant fan! Merci beaucoup.

A truly special experience! They were fully booked the first night we tried to go in, but Tatsu was very kind to hold us a table for the following evening. We had a wonderful mix of cocktails, Japanese whisky and wine and all the staff were very pleasant!

Ambiance - Perfect. Cocktails - Perfect. Service - Perfect. If you like whisky and scotch after a long day of walking around Nara park then this place is, well, perfect.

The location is kind of secret (a small light about the door at dusk may help guide you there) but discovering the venue is worth the investigating! Easily the best bar I’ve visited in 2023 and likely to be one of the highlights of my trip to Japan. The venue embodies zen; the staff are so friendly and dedicated to their craft; and the whole experience leaves you wishing you could go there every day.

We were about to leave Nara but decided to stay a bit longer to check out the area and stumbled upon this place. It’s hidden away without any signs, giving a very speakeasy vibe. The interior has a very high class traditional Japanese feel to it. There’s no menus but the bartenders are happy to recommend you a custom cocktail to your liking. They speak English and are very foreigner friendly but due to limited seating, I would not come with a large group. Drinks were very reasonably priced for the this sort of establishment. They accept both cash and card. Definitely the highlight for our trip to Nara and will definitely stop by again when we are in the area.

Best speakeasy I have ever visited in my life. There's no menu, so every drink is carefully crafted and personalized by the bar's owner (a master mixologist) according to your taste. A true highlight in my Japan honeymoon!
