5/5 ??? 5 years ago on Google
I
wish
I
could
give
this
place
10
stars
out
of
5!
We
chose
to
spend
our
wedding
night
dinner
with
Komiyama-san
after
browsing
literally
hundreds
of
reviews
for
restaurants
all
around
Tokyo.
I
think
that
we
chose
the
best
restaurant
in
all
of
Tokyo
if
I'm
honest.
Before
arriving
at
the
restaurant
we'd
made
our
booking
through
Pocket
Concierge
as
after
a
few
attempts
to
book
the
restaurant
from
the
UK
we'd
failed
to
get
through
on
the
phone
(I
wish
that
website
bookings
were
more
fully
embraced
in
Japan).
We
pre-selected
the
Omakase
Course
which
is
a
full
10
or
more
course
exploration
of
some
of
Komiyama-san's
best
cuts.
When
we
arrived
we
were
greeted
at
the
door
as
we
stepped
out
of
the
taxi
and
guided
in
to
a
private
dining
booth.
As
neither
my
wife
or
I
speak
enough
Japanese
to
converse
confidently
we
utilised
the
waitress'
electronic
translation
thingy
and
ordered
sake
and
red
wine.
Both
of
these
were
delivered
quickly
but
without
feeling
hurried
in
chilled
glasses
(the
Japanese
mainly
seem
to
chill
their
red
wine
in
case
it's
your
first
time
here).
After
this
the
food
started
arriving.
The
starter
was
wafer
thin
slices
of
beef
carpaccio;
maybe
tongue
but
not
entirely
sure.
This
really
set
the
tone
for
the
meal
and
was
fantastic.
After
this
the
grilling
started.
Our
waitress
(wish
we'd
gotten
her
name
so
we
could
say
how
good
she
was)
and
Komiyama-san
himself
took
turns
delivering,
grilling
and
laughing
with
us.
There
were
so
many
courses
of
such
generous
portion
sizes
that
my
wife
had
to
stop
around
the
8th
course
mark
leaving
me
to
struggle
on
with
the
extra
plates
myself;
helping
out
where
I
could
obviously
😆.
It
wasn't
all
meat
though.
About
every
third
dish
a
new
and
beautiful
salad,
pickles
or
vegetable
dish
would
be
delivered
by
the
house
specialist
in
all
things
green.
These
were
equally
delicious
but
if
I'm
honest
we
didn't
finish
all
of
our
plates
(mum
would
have
had
a
thing
to
say
about
not
eating
my
greens)
as
we
were
prioritising
the
beef.
For
desert
I
think
there
was
a
small
ice-cream/sorbet.
It
was
a
perfect
palate
cleaner
and
yummy.
Despite
being
the
best
meal
I've
ever
eaten
(yes,
better
than
the
steak
in
Sitges,
the
sushi
in
Kyoto,
the
Hake
in
Copenhagen
or
the
cream
tea
in
Brighton
-
I'm
seriously
considering
downgrading
every
other
review
to
4
stars
as
a
new
bar
has
been
set
but
I
don't
want
to
do
those
very
fine
restaurants
out
of
a
valid
review)
it
was
great
value
for
money
and
it
was
only
due
to
a
lack
of
time
on
our
part
that
we
didn't
return
here
before
leaving
Japan.
We
will
100%
be
back
when
we
do
return.
If
you're
planning
on
visiting
Japan
for
any
reason
please
seek
this
place
out,
somehow
get
a
table
and
go.
Just
don't
make
it
so
I
can't
get
a
table
in
the
future!
