ここを訪れた理由は、『水曜どうでしょう』試験に出る日本史ロケ地で前回試験卒業できなかった安田さんがリベンジで参加し、ここ長篠城址で授業寸劇の主役『鳥居強右衛門』を演じたところに行きたかったため。
大泉、鈴井、安田が寸劇を繰り広げた場所は土塁の上にあり、ほぼ当時のままの姿がありすぐに見つけることが出来ました。
あれから20年ほど経過して、『鳥居強右衛門』磔の図看板は真新しくなって赤く、より漫画チックになったような気がします。
長篠城址は自然の要害で宇連川、豊川の合流点の三角形の断崖の上にあります。
豊川に掛かる『牛渕橋』からその全容を眺めることが出来ます。
信州と三河、遠江をつなぐ要衝として重要な役割を担った城で今川、武田、徳川がせめぎ合った場所。
1573年、武田信玄死去後に長篠城は徳川の手に。
1575年5月武田勝頼は父も欲しかった長篠城を堕とすため15,000名の兵を率いて取り囲んだが、当時の徳川方長篠城城主、二十歳の奥平信昌勢は、わずか500名で善戦し有名な『長篠の合戦』『設楽原の合戦』につなげた難攻の『長篠城』があった場所。
『水曜どうでしょう』試験に出る日本史で再認識し是非とも訪れてみたかった念願が叶いました。
戦国時代の典型的な防御を固めた城があったとのことですが、思ったよりも面積が小さく、よくぞわずか500名で戦ったなと感心しました。
元々徳川に仕えていた奥平家は武田信玄死後に奥平信昌は徳川方に帰参すると決断、勝頼は奥平信昌の家族人質3名を処刑する。
その恨みと意地が若い武将を奮い立たせたのでしょう。
そして、織田、徳川援軍に重要な役目を果たした『鳥居強右衛門』忠烈の活躍が奥平勢を救うことになる。
一人の忠義伝説や戦国時代に苦悩の中での戦い抜いた武将の生き様が伝わる感慨深い場所である。
敷地内に元あった鳥居神社近くに、とても大きな木があります。
見上げながら、当時を見たんだろうか?と思えるような大木です。
鳥居強右衛門磔の場は、豊川挟んで対岸にあります。
