The teachers are OK but the reception staff can be pretty rude. They speak to customers with contempt and refuse to use polite Japanese with you. There is one woman with glasses around 40 years old who is particularly offensive. The manager (an older woman) even has the nerve to call herself the "school principal". This school should start treating customers with respect instead of speaking to them like middle school children. Perhaps they should familiarize themselves once more with the concept of おもてなし.

I studied at KILC from September 2019 to September 2020 (JLPT N2 & N1), along with their online Business-Japanese course from November 2020 to December 2020. My overall experience was incredible. KILC has an excellent community of qualified teachers and staff who are very warm and supportive of each individual student’s needs. The lessons are thorough and well-planned, infused with regular grammar lessons, extensive communication exercises, and detailed kanji lessons. The staff go out of their way to make you feel at home while studying abroad. Furthermore, there are plenty of student activities (for instance, Japanese calligraphy workshops, Japanese food workshops, etc) and 1-day trips to places in and around Tokyo that are organized by the school; they help you get a first-hand experience of Japanese culture. KILC also organizes various kouryuukai (交流会) where you get to interact with various Japanese people, which is an excellent source of speaking practice. One of the greatest aspects of KILC is that they deeply emphasize natural pronunciation and intonation while teaching Japanese. This helps students develop a much more native-sounding Japanese accent, which is a fantastic advantage to have, especially if you plan on studying or working in Japan long-term. KILC’s teachers also take into account the various nationalities/cultures of their students while teaching. Having classmates from around the world means that you get a lot of different insights, and you get to understand Japanese from various perspectives. Lastly, for those looking to work in Japan, or in a Japanese company, I highly recommend taking their (now online) Business-Japanese course where they extensively cover sonkeigo and kenjougo, Japanese business manners as well as writing Japanese resumes and cover letters. These classes are highly specific to each student, and teachers take their time to discuss your needs. Teachers also share important tips and resources about job-hunting in Japan. Apart from grammar lessons and resume-writing, teachers also have us practice with mock interviews and provide us with important feedback. Overall, I highly recommend Kudan Institute of Language and Culture, as it is an elite institution that focuses on giving their students a very clear understanding of the Japanese language, as well as introducing them to various cultural aspects of the country—all the while making them feel at home regardless of where they are from.

I went to this school 3 years ago for 10 months and I really loved to study there ! I was able to speak japanese as a daily conversation after 4/5 months (and I still can). Teachers and school staff are amazing and they always take care of the students. I really appreciated the conversation class because you can practice a lot ! The atmosphere with the other student was good and warm, I miss it ! I still met some of my friends that I met at Kudan at that time and we always talk a lot about our souvenir in Kudan. I strongly recommend that school and I even will took some online lesson to keep improving my skills.

Teachers are not professional in this school. If they do not like you for any personal reasons, they can make days in this school horrible for you and will not teach you and treat you in the same way they do other student in a class.

It is my third time to study at Kudan Japanese School. To improve the level of my Japanese skills, I chose to continue studying here even during the COVID pandemic. I have been used to Kudan’s comprehensive curricula ranging from intensive courses to conversation courses. The thing that always surprises me is that Kudan prefers to assign three different teachers to teach each course in order to help students get the best experiences. Not only can I learn the essential language skills prepared for JlPT tests but also I am capable of mastering the communication skills with Japanese people. This time thanks to the huge support from Kudan’s staff in my school applications, I got admitted and also received scholarships eventually. All in all, learning Japanese is a long journey in Japan and on the other hand indeed, choosing a good school is such important. I am so happy that all my experiences here in Kudan proved me right in my career path.

Great teachers. The school offer both conversation course and intensive course for different needs. I took the conversation course myself and find myself improved quite fast. Teachers are great not only as a teacher but as a friend as well, who offer lots of advice not in the language itself but also about job seeking and various problem which everyone is likely to face when they move to Japan. They also provide home stay option, didn't use it myself but for people who'd like to stay with the japanese and save some money it's a good choice.

They have done a great job in teaching. Different teachers have different teaching styles. I went there twice already so I am pretty familiar with most of teachers there as well as the staff. I still remember the school principal said that the reason why we could be here as a community arises from 縁 meaning the destiny or luck that brings us together. I kinda wanna say that the staff there mostly tend to treat us in a traditional way of Japanese, but paradoxically they do wanna lessen the tension and get closer to the students so they might behave a bit loose while talking, which is different from the Japanese working environment. But anyway, I like the teachers there and decide to go there again.

Good for taking cultural activities and having fun. But not for those who want to study. Thanks to all my fellow classmates who helped me with better understanding the material I saw for the first time.

(Translated by Google) Classes in Jiudan are a very happy time. The funny teachers will use all their energy to teach students in class. Students in the class come from all over the world and can communicate with each other after class. (Original) 在九段上課是一段很開心的時光,風趣的老師上課會使用渾身解數來想辦法教導學生,班上的學生來自世界各地,下課可以互相交流。

It is my second time at this school and I have nothing but good things to say about it. There is no other language school like Kudan, the teachers are really friendly and help the students in every life situation. My Japanese got improved really fast since I’m studying here. The schools counselor really helps with the students future, by helping to choose the right University for one.

Studied here for a year between 2015-2016. They are responsible for making me able to speak Japanese. What I like about them is that they have 2 courses (that i'm aware of) which is conversation and intensive so you can choose base on your preference. The staff are also very helpful and speaks english really well. Hope this helps!

ive been lucky to have the best teachers I ever had in a long time: funny, they are worried we understand everything and they explain everything so we can all understand and practice in class. Some classmates told me last semester classes were not that great, but they hired new teachers and they are amazing!! totally happy to go there!!

Overall it is good for the Japanese beginner learners , about N4N5level. But if you went to reach higher levels to N2, it is not a decent one. Recently the teacher changed a lot. Some of them not responding and only talk to the good students in the class. Kanji classes is Too fast and no time to absorb…. If you take classes on zoom that more difficult, for some teacher then can not use zoom efficiently.

The conversation teacher is very good Nice environment, diverse nationalities Diversified extracurricular activities and many opportunities for conversation in class But it’s very central, so the tram will be crowded with people during morning classes.
