I have visited several times. From my experience this is one of a best hotel in the area. Apart from the main building they have a chalet type room which had a breathtaking view. Rooms were clean and beautiful. Service was also excellent. The menu for lunch and dinner was exceptional. Try the breakfast or lunch outdoors and thanks me later 😋. They will prepare it on request. The owner Mr. Sumith and team are very friendly and they will guide you to some scenic places nearby. The view of 'Dethanagala mountain' from the hotel was heart touching and unique. Planning to visit again.

Wow great place with some great experience. Superb view from room and the hotel. Serving some testier and bit different foods. Great place for newly married couples and pre wedding shoots. Room was built for cabana style. But room was spacious. very clean and we'll maintained property. Staff also very friendly. There food was fabulous 😋😋😋

We stayed one night at the Backyard Balangoda in the middle of tea plantations. We had our own cabin which was very cozy, clean and modernly equipped. We watched the sunrise on the cabin’s balcony offering a marvellous view over the mountains and tea estates. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and really tasty. The service was just oustanding. The owner is an amazing person and really helpful. We really loved staying at this place and can only recommend visiting when in Sri Lanka. Big thumps up!

Beautiful place. Thats it. The guys do not speak english. Even a bit. I've ordered some dessert. Every one else finished theirs and they told me, they don't have what I have chosen. Could have known earlier... Fancy overpriced place claiming they roast their own coffee. I have ordered espresso (on photo). Got me thinking how would americano look?!? Maybe served in a bucket :)

We chose to spend our honeymoon here. It's a very beautiful environment. The view in the morning is very beautiful. Also the facilities, cleanliness and order are very good. The way the food is served and the taste of the food is very unique. The owner is very friendly and the food served to us there. He prepares the food according to his own recipes. Cinnamon is used as a special ingredient. We are really happy to have chosen this place to spend our special day. I invite everyone to come here and experience the beauty of this place ✨

Me and my family had a recent stay at the Backyard Balangoda. It was a unique experience which you get stunned by the simplicity of nature. The view from the cabin was breathtaking. You will find yourself amidst the clouds and the shades of 'Dethanagala'.. a two peak mountain range that envelopes the location. The cabins are designed so that one will get the best views this fantastic location could offer. Since this is a boutique lodge, you get that calmness and slowing down of pace which is rare to come by. The staff is polite and attentive. The owner has a long experience in hospitality industry and he catered for us himself. The food was very nice and we enjoyed the chicken wrap which was very fresh and clean tasting. The cold cool climate is an appetite booster and you are sure to clean off the plates. Try out Dethanagla special 'Kithul Ice cream' if you are a sweet-tooth. The breakfast spread was even better! We highly recommend that you try out the Backyard special 'Tomato curry' served with string hoppers! That dish was simply remarkable... And.. if you are a dog lover.. there is Bruno to play with! Overall, this was one of the most memorable stays of all time. Oh and remember to try out a pack of Backyard roasted coffee beans. Highly recommend a stay in this place. It will be worth the drive!

This place is BEAUTIFUL!! Truly out of this world views over the Sri Lankan jungle/valley, and the A-frame building has been designed beautifully too. The owner could not have been more helpful and arranged two full days of activities including tea picking, waterfall trecks and going to a cinnamon plantation. We had delicious dinners and smoked some sheesha in the evening. I would definitely come back here! 💖

We had a splendid stay at The Backyard Balangoda. The food, the rooms, the view and the service were excellent. We highly recommend this place to go and relax, and to have a great vacation.
