The
Cemetery
of
Andare
Adikaram
in
Hambantota
is
a
small
and
beautiful
tomb
dedicated
to
the
famous
royal
court
jester,
Andare.
Andare,
a
talented
poet
and
quick-witted
entertainer,
served
under
King
Keerthi
Sri
Rajasingha
in
the
1700s.
Despite
his
role
as
a
joker,
Andare
was
known
for
his
superior
intelligence
and
ability
to
adapt
to
any
situation.

Legend
has
it
that
during
his
final
days,
Andare
set
out
on
a
journey
back
to
his
birth
village
in
Ruhuna.
Unfortunately,
his
illness
worsened
along
the
way,
and
he
couldn't
complete
his
task.
He
found
solace
in
the
Udamalala
area,
where
he
sought
shelter
under
a
palu
tree
near
the
bank
of
Udamalala
Wewa.
π°
It
was
here
that
Andare
took
his
final
rest.
After
Andare's
passing,
he
was
laid
to
rest
in
Udamalala,
believed
to
be
his
hometown.
His
tomb
is
situated
on
the
banks
of
Udamalala
lake,
offering
a
serene
location
surrounded
by
water
plants
and
flowers.
