A very calm and serene place. You will find peace here. Must visit for an ardent devotee of shiv ji. There are two shivlings. One is of Lord shiv ji and other one is Mata Parwati. The two shivlings join in the winter season while they become apart in the summer season. The architecture of the place is quite devotional.

Kathgarh- Historical temple of Bhagwan Shiv and Gauri Maa. Amazing architecture, beautiful landscape, cleanliness and brilliantly maintained by temple administration. The Shiv Linga and Gauri Mata’s have a air gap during summer seasons, which keeps on reducing and finally disappears as the winter season approaches. Located on the banks of River Beas “ Legend has it, while on his Campaign to conquer Bharat, Alexander turned back from this location“ —- Some people also say, “The flow of mighty River Beas, took away all the courage of Alexander’s soldiers”

Nestled merely one and a half kilometers from Mirthal, this small yet profoundly significant temple attracts a horde of people all around the season. We had a peaceful and serene visit to this temple recently and would recommend all to must visit this temple whenever they are around Kathgarh.

Has some thing for each member of the family! Sometime least known places would give you such peace of mind! Unique temple: We drove by car here and it was my first visit. The temple is both historical and modern. In recent times the management committe was formed and they have changed the whole place. Right from new buildings to house rooms which can be rented to amenities which kids and the likes can use. As the legend goes the gap between two parts of shivalinga increases in summers and reduces in winters. Check for yourself . Donations: Please be aware what ever money you offer inside the temple goes to the encestoral members but the donations u make at desk or via hundi in middle or temple courtyard goes to the wellbeing of structure and for free food service. Free food: Free food (Langar ) is served during lunch time. Pls look at the images to know the timings. Also food and snacks from local shops is worth trying. Amazing co operation: The temple is all maintained by locals who cooperate in all possible ways. Parking: Free parking for fourwheelers and two wheelers. Finally they have a well maintained website which has all the relevant information. A must visit place for all the core mahadeva devotees as well as non devotees of Lord shiva.

Almost 400 years old temple of svayambhu Shiv Linga built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. As per My discussion with pujari, that time Maharaja tried to remove this stone from bottom, but after many try he can't remove! And some one said Maharaja, this is not a ordinary stone, look carefully, I think it's looks like symbol of Shiv - Parvati. Means Ardhnareshwar ! And finally Maharaja felt down to the stone. He ready to establish a New building. Pujari said that from day of Janmashtami the both part of shiv linga comes closer to each other and finally on the day of Mahashivratri they are looking single! Very amazing place for visiting all'age group.

One of the ancient temples we have in India which is unique because we have pindi of both Lord Shiva and Parvati Ji together. It joins on its own on Mahashivratri and then get seperated later on. Temple premises is very big and is build beautifully. Must visit place if you are nearby Punjab.

Shiv Mandir #Kathgarh is one of the very famous temple in Himachal Pardesh. This temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and Parvati. The temple has a large ‘Shivaling’, which is divided vertically in two parts. The bigger portion of the shivaling is worshipped as Lord Shiva and the smaller portion is worshipped as Parvati. The distance between two parts keeps increasing and decreasing as per changing seasons i.e summer and winter. There is an old temple, built in Mughal style, housing 6 feet long and 5 feet round ‘#Shivalinga’ The ‘Linga’ here is of its own kind not found anywhere in the world. The Linga inside the temple is made of wood and it automatically breaks into two pieces and then the two equal pieces are put in the right place and it again retains its original state.

The Linga inside the temple is made of wood and it automatically breaks into two pieces and then the two equal pieces are put in the right place and it again retains its original state. According to a story in “Shiv Purana” there was a war between Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahama as to who is supreme of the two. They were about to use “Pashupat” which would have brought ruin and destruction all around. Lord Shiva could not help seeing all this and he appeared as a fire pillar between the two and both the unatonable Lords became peaceful and wanted know as to what this fire pillar is? Lord Vishnu disguised as ‘Shukara’ went to inquire the bottom and Lord Brahma’s gander flew into the sky to have a look at the top of this fire pillar. Lord Vishnu came back without reaching the farthest point of the pillar in the ground. Lord Brahma came back with a ‘Ketki’ flower saying that it was lying on the top of the pillar. Both the Lords reconciled. Lord Shiva then appeared and was very happy with the devotion and truthfulness of Lord Vishnu and awarded him similarity with self. This great fire pillar came to know as linga of Lord Shiva in Kathgarh Temple. Pls subscribe "KHAYALO KA JHAROKHA" YouTube channel and watch of historical and religious places.

Hello. Walking from France to Varanasi, I was hosted there. Private room seems to be expensive for foreigners at least (500r) so I slept in the dinning room for free. Shower very simple They kindly offered me the supper, it was very good. Very nice people around. Thank you

Loved it. The shivling is one of a kind and it is said that it is a natural shivling (or one can say two) which gets separated arpund Janamashtmi and then rejoins on shivratri.

Lord Shiva the almighty God. It is a very beautiful and amazing place to visit. Even science is failed to know the secret behind the two shivling mainly named Shiva and Adhishakti which are divided into two parts can be seen easily but on Mahashivratri the difference between both were gone. How amazing it is but still true.
