Average food for high price. Place was heavily crowded with people waiting for sitting spaces. Staff have poor hospitality once you are seated. No one asked us for anything until we called the staff for the order. Staff expected us to leave assoon we were done eating. Not worth your pay.

The environment was good but a bit crowded. The food was spicy hot and tasted average. Despite my hunger, I could not eat much because of the chili in everything. The food was way overpriced. I've had thakali set tasting way better for lesser price.

It was an excellent Restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu. As it’s a famous supper restaurant, so I wish they had expanded the children's area into a more significant place or room, which forced me to deduct one star. The rest was fantastic such as the Food, atmosphere, tradition, staff member and location.

Thakali dish was good. But service was slow. This place is famous for fine dining and thakali food. Service portions are also good. But no of service staff is less with respect to guests. Various non veg and veg snacks options are also available and card payment is also accepted here. It is advised to come early for this place since usually it is full with crowd.

We liked the ambiance of the restaurant. Food was good but on the milder side. I was expecting more of a Thakali taste but the food tasted more on the western side, spice wise. Staff were attentive and the second helpings came without asking. Definitely a good place to visit for a tasty lunch/dinner.

We order 2 different types of food. For me I can't eat much so only mutton, while others ordered special thali (i forgot exact name). The yoghurt and lalmon was delicious 😋. Mutton was delicious, everything was 😋. For me dal was different as I don't like jimbu. So if you don't like jimbu don't go for dal. In special thali, having tasted fish made in Terai I felt it was not fried much and chicken was just ok, not delicious. Need to focus on these two dishes.

Loved this place. This place is not targeted to tourists or the affluent, but is best described as a restaurant that locals would frequent for a good hearty meal with quality food. Hardly saw any tourists there, and staff there Came highly recommended by a Nepali foodie friend for the signature Dal Bhat.

I like the place but the food is standard people say it's the best but to my taste pallet it was nothing special. The parking space is good and the biggest advantage is it's location which is very central. The staff are friendly and the over all service is good.

The food was similar to other Thakali restaurant around but what sets Jimbu apart is the service and ambience. Likewise the menu is extended so you can get whatever you want

It was my first time at a thakali place in Nepal. The food was awesome. You need to get there a little before you are hungry cos you might have to wait a bit to get a table as this is a very popular food joint and it's always filled with happy customers. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone who wants to try a good Nepali meal .

From the heart of Balwatar, Jimbu Thakali serves as a sanctuary for those in pursuit of traditional Nepalese flavors. As a party of five, we embarked on a culinary journey, opting for the Chicken, Mutton, and Fish Thali, each dish embodying the rich and diverse heritage of Thakali cuisine. The Thali spread was a picture of color, taste, and tradition, with each element on the platter holding its own. The chicken was tender and cooked to perfection, melting effortlessly with each bite. The mutton was rich and flavorful, exuding a rustic charm that transported us to the picturesque terrains of Mustang. The fish, fresh and succulent, told tales of the rivers that crisscross through the heart of Nepal. A special mention to the daal, the soul of the Thali, that was just the right consistency and taste, binding the entire meal together. The rating of 4/5 on the food and service stands justified. The service was indeed the highlight of our experience. The staff was courteous, attentive, and exhibited a fine blend of professionalism with a personal touch, ensuring our meal was nothing short of delightful. Each query was met with a smile and each request fulfilled with eagerness. The promptness and attentiveness of the service significantly enhanced our dining experience, making us feel valued and well-taken care of. The drinks menu was decent, though not extraordinary, offering the usual suspects to accompany our hearty meal. They did the job, quenching our thirst and serving as a subtle backdrop to the burst of flavors from our Thali. In essence, Jimbu Thakali stands as a testament to the rich culinary heritage of Nepal, offering a genuine taste of Thakali cuisine in a warm and welcoming ambiance. It’s a place where the food is good, the service is excellent, and the memories are enduring. Our rendezvous with Jimbu Thakali was not just a meal, but an experience steeped in tradition, taste, and exceptional hospitality.

Food is good. Nice ambience. However, this place is always crowded. You have to wait sometime to get a sitting place. If you are visiting with groups suggest to book a table in advance.

Nepali Thali set is one of my favorites here at Jimbu. However, other food like momo , nachos, etc can be better. Veg thali is my favourite. Churros for desert was quite alright too.

Food is bang average here. For a place specializing in Thakali food, Thakali set is the one I would avoid here. Please skip their "gourmet" momos and also their jhol momos. Only food we liked was Chicken Picatta but the portion size was very small. Food arrives in around 20 mins and service is good. The waiter pushed us to get Cheli Jwai Thali several times which I did not like. Letting us know about their special dish and the value we get is okay but pushing us to order it several times is not okay. Did not like the drinks as well - we ordered Vanilla Lassi, Choco Mint Frappe and Oreo Frappe and please avoid them as well if you do visit the place. I would avoid this place for Thakali food and momos and as for other dishes, there are plenty of good places nearby this area.

One of the best thakali in Kathmandu. Mouthwatering thakali dinner set with traditional mutton meat. And ofcourse the fresh fruit punch completed the whole dinner. Thank you Mr Biskah for the warm hospitality.

I loved the ambience inside it esp. on the first floor but I would think twice if friends plan something here. Staff are not supportive. Cuisines are ok and don't have any specialty in any cuisines. Serve late and manager is not supportive. Basically, this restaurant could be very good given manager have control over his staff and vigilant eye.

Great taste. Great food. One of the must have experience with family for a quality and best taste Thakali experience. Has lately become quite expensive maybe due the price hikes but still very worthful.

Good food, good ambience but rush time needs to be managed better. Being located in a prime area this place has a lot of flow of people, which not just adds value but increases the challenge to maintain the quality of service as well. I have visited a number of times but always thought of improvement in service during rush hours. Not complaining but wishing that good place would get better.

One of the precious location in the middle of the city. This place also made fine memories with me as i joined it with my family members. The vibe and the place was quite crowded, even we waited for almost 15 minutes for a seat. To go deeper to the food beverages and our time here Food : Drinks : it was great, i loved the coffee, trued for latte extra shot got it as i preferred. My brothers they tried strawberry lassi, which was loved by them too Meal set : We tried thakali khana set chicken, the taste and everything was fabulous. I loved the tandoori aloo / crispy aloo a lot even added it lol. Service : The service staffs were enjoying the moment happy faces all around enjoying and teasing one another which was really a delightful moment for my day. Points to improve: All service staffs serving werent aligned well, lack of communication was seen mostly, warmth filled welcoming was still an absence. Wish you the best always team Jimbu thakali ❤️

We ate here two nights in a row because we liked it that much. It was packed both nights. Their stuffed chicken wings were simply amazing. They went great with the Sherpa Red craft beer they have on tap.

My 3rd time here, the 2nd time i had worse experience but the 3rd one was worst, i'll tell you why. They brought us plates with spoon & fork which was not properly washed, we waited 35mins for the dinner and when calling the waiter they just kept ignoring. Our dinner was there with other orders but previous replaced spoon and fork was still not there. Ghee halda pani museko thau ma halira rather than on the pile of rice. The food was really good but they really need to have a good attitude and service towards the customer

The food was of same standard as any outlet of Jimbu. Loved the Chicken Thali and 4 Cheese Pizza ⭐ To talk about the ambience and space... The parking area was a bit odd, had to park in someone else's area (the next door shop). The restaurant space looked really compact and it was not very impressive. The tables and couches were a little untidy or looked unwashed. The service was not good. The server just took our box of spices which was for pizza without even asking if we were done with it. Would definitely visit again for the food but not for the ambience and service. Hope to take this review positively.

A tad too expensive. Rs 25 water bottle was sold with price tag of 88 plus VAT. Food is above average but in this price range we can easily choose other Thakali in city. A little bit of warning to the owner as well, we can complain the overpriced item to authority so please take care not to Rob the public.
