Don’t listen to the haters. It’s a Lovely little garden. Yes there is an entry fee, but the garden is v nice. It’s a nice break from being a tourist in the city. It was very relaxing to sit back and enjoy people watching. It seemed like a very popular spot with locals and hence does tend to get crowded so time your visit accordingly.

The Garden of Dreams remains one of the most serene and beautiful enclaves in Thamel, Kathmandu. It offers a very beautiful ambiance and the seating arrangements with a natural girdle. The extensive beauty of the Garden of dreams attracts a lot of people.Nice place to chill and relax. 😍✌️

Entrance fee is 150 NPR per Nepali person & 400 NPR Per Tourist which is very high for such a small garden. The ambience is good and peaceful but the garden is small and partly under renovation. The garden is well maintained and serene.

It was wonderful 😊. I had a pleasant time there. It's a peaceful place to escape the hustle of Kathmandu Valley. 🎈 You need to pay to get inside and it varies depending upon your nationality. If you're Nepali, it will cost you significantly less than that of if you're foreigner or simply tourist. There's no student id fee discount. Enjoy your visit. Have fun . Stay safe

People usually go here for a date or with their loved ones, but i love going here alone with a book 😊 you will be lost, totally lost. It truly feels like a dream, a garden of dreams. Its better to visit early morning stay till evening. Even in a kathmandu city you will find this corner where you can lay under a tranquil sky, birds hovering around, cute squirrels running around to make your day. I loved every single time i spent here, its my calm in the chaos.

Garden of Dreams is always my favourite place to be. The history that it posesses is extraordinary. The lush garden, variety of flowers, beautiful pavilions, the sound of trickling water from the lovely fountains and the Library is alluring. If you're visiting for the first time, do note that there's an entry fee. Timings are 9 am - 6:30 pm. Some part is under renovation currently and the Kaiser Cafe was closed too.

Today, it was my first time to the garden of dreams. It is also good place for dating your girlfriend . I really enjoyed this place. It is full of greenhouse with variety of flowers and small green grass. It’s a Lovely little garden. Yes there is an entry fee which is about 150 per head but the garden is very nice and well managed. It’s a nice break from being a tourist in the city. It was very relaxing to sit back and enjoy people watching.

Garden of dreams the name itself is enough. You can just imagine how beautiful it is just by hearing its name. 😍

Smaller than I thought but it looks like some expansion is going on. Well cared for and a pleasant visit. Good place to read a book. Seniors get half of the $3 admission. Bring your passport. No cafe but maybe at other times one will open. Not busy on a Tuesday.

Its a bit small and some parts are still under restoration but the garden is beautiful. The entry fee is a bit overpriced and the staff aren't very nice towards the visitors either. The place is crowded even on weekdays. Keeping all these aside the garden in itself is beautiful and has a lot of history. There's a gallery where one can read about it and see old pictures from its construction days. The squirrels were too cute, i think i enjoyed watching them the most.

Best destination in kathmandu valley to cheer up with friends, family or your loved one. Very well managed, clean and tidy place where you can see green all around. For a moment you will feel like you are not in the capital city. Just I don't recommend visiting in public holidays because of huge crowd on those days.

I visited first time in this garden in the morning time. The colour of the walls are very soothing. The plants and tress are planted in a very decorative manner. You can sit and spend a good time in this garden. The look of the garden is royal. The sound of the fountain will make you feel happy. The garden is well maintained.

As you go in you can feel the peace and calmness of the garden. Be aware of bugs and mosquitos as it has a lot of nature inside. It’s a beautiful place to have a date, to read a book or paint and it is full of security so you feel save while you see the amazing architecture and nature of the place.

I find this place overrated. Entrance fee is kind of expensive for foreigners (400Rs) compared to what you will actually see inside. A piece of history and unmaintained garden. Instagrammable. Come during the golden hour to get perfect shots. Within walking distance in Thamel area.

Pros: •Good place to hangout with family and friends •Well maintained and absolutely free of litter •At good location (easy to reach in Kathmandu) •Pleasant ambience •Good place to take kids •Has Parking area •Greenery of the place is well maintained with variety of flower and plants •The Garden of Dreams is quite popular for couples as well. •This can be an ideal place to take break from the noisy world. Cons: •Slightly overpriced (Single ticket for foreigners: Rs 400, Single ticket for Nepalese: Rs. 150) Note: It has parking area in "Kaiser Library", which is adjacent to The Garden of Dreams."

Beautiful but small little garden in the heart of Kathmandu. It depends on the day that you go, but it can get quite busy so if you’re looking for peace and quiet you may not get it easily! There are lots of little nooks to find a quieter spot to sit down and ponder though. Really nice spot!

Just like everywhere in Nepal, fee for Garden of Dreams is too high for Non-Nepali, or what they like to call foreigners. However, the garden is small, not much to offer except a quiet green space in the congested city of Kathmandu. The garden itself is quite nice, unexpectedly well taken care of. It’s very quiet and relaxing. Lots of photo opportunities. 3-stars for the entry fee.

It was really nice, there are lots of flowers and other plants to enjoy. I was really hoping they would have a small cafe or something for a coffee and a snack, but they didn’t. They could use a bit more seating as well.

Nice garden, high price for tourist entry. Came on a Saturday so was quite busy, full of people doing tiktoks which ruined the experience for those wanting to relax and enjoy the beauty of the place. Loved the old style buildings nearby which are being renovated.

Beautiful garden, albeit a bit small but that's expected as Kathmandu is a small but interesting city. A very relaxing, quiet and secluded area where you almost forget that you're in Nepal. If you're planning on where to go during the day, then this garden is a great shout but you'll spend 1-2 hour max here as it isn't very big, as previously mentioned. Definitely still visit this place though, I highly recommend it.

Visited the Garden of Dreams during my recent trip to Kathmandu. As an international visitor, I paid 400 NPR for the ticket. This garden built-in 1920, it features three pavilions, an amphitheater, ponds, pergolas, and urns. I also visited it at evening time and the nighttime sightseeing was also great, the Garden of Dreams, located near Thamel, offers a charming escape with a small coffee shop to complete the experience.

Beautiful stop- worth the time and an oasis of calm, green, and quiet in the middle of the city. You can see it all in half an hour, but if you enjoy quiet places you can easily spend several hours taking it all in. Not so much a thing to do as it is a place to be- and it is a VERY beautiful place to be.

Totally not worth it. Please don't pay 400NPR for such small garden when you can see such gardens for free anywhere. Come to India and you'll see much better gardens for free with better view.

Relaxing place. Full of young people or in some cases couple. Didn't see many foreigners and families. Well maintained and food to relax on a cold day. The price is little expensive for foreigners, 400 NPR per person. Considering the price, the place is not worth it. If it was the same cost as local citizens (10 NPT or around that), it is worth a visit

While we are in Kathmandu the capital of Nepal ❣️ I prefer staying in Thamel as it has the best book stores, cafes, restaurants, sight seeing, lots of places to shop souvenirs and the add on to it this beautiful garden called "Garden of Dreams" There is entry fee of 150/- Nepali rupees। for Nepali citizens and 400/- Nepali rupees for foreigners (if it doesn't change). Once you enter you would feel that paying to enter the garden is definitely worth it. They have a cafe also inside where you can enjoy food and beverages 🙂. The beautiful garden gives you your own space to meditate, paint, sketch or just relax. I highly recommend a visit 🧿❤️❣️ #GardenOfDreams #Thamel #Kathmandu #Nepal

A very refreshing and peaceful place to visit if you want to go away from the city but yet get to be inside it. You can see a variety of flowers, plant and squirrel 🐿️ which is very cute . You can visit the cafe and sit in the garden. If you want to go somewhere and spend time with your friends and family within the valley then this is the place.

It’s a beautiful, quiet spot. You’d need about 30 minutes to check it out. You can take some great photos here, or just sit on a bench or lie on the grass and enjoy the peace and quiet. Also, there are a lot of chipmunks around here. If you bring some snacks, you can feed them. 🐿️🐿️🐿️

Very beautiful Edwardian garden built in the 1920s by a rich Nepali General named Kaiser in front of his palace. The old palace still surrounds the garden but it's all run down. It's a nice place to sit and read a book, take some pictures or talk. I went on a holiday day so it was full of locals taking selfies. There are lots of nice places to sit. If you have a few hours to kill it's nice. There is food inside but it's extortionatly priced compared to outside the gate, but if your here on vacation with a budget it would be a peaceful place to have a meal. Another sad note is the racist entry fee being dramatically different for visitors than locals, but that's normal here. All in all as a foreigner worth a visit once. I found the plaques talking about the history to be most interesting. Other bad thing is sadly there is an ungly tin wall surrounding the front of the old palace, which should be removed, the area there cleaned up and made nicer.

It's a beautiful neo-classical garden where time seems to slow down, a romantic haven for young couples seeking an escape from the city's noise and distractions. Whether you're enjoying a casual date, celebrating a special occasion, or simply seeking a quiet moment together, this enchanting garden is a must-visit destination.

This garden is a poor imitation of Italian style garden. You must pay 400 Nepali rupees. Too expensive for what it’s inside. It’s good for Instagramers who want to shoot pics. There is no interest to visit this place. It’s a tourist trap

  • 5/5 Jerzy G. 5 months ago on Google
A charming garden very attractive particularly at sunset when you can see it in daylight and in artificial light. A nice place for rest from crazy traffic outside. A good place to spend time with friends and to have coffee or a meal in one of the restaurants. When the palace refurbishment is finished the place will be even more attractive than it is now...

Nice little green park. Beautiful landscaping. A little escape from busy city life. 400 NPR to get in for foreigners which is $3; not bad.

  • 4/5 Laura C. 6 months ago on Google
Beautiful garden (400 per person). The Kaiser cafe inside has a decent menu though it is quite pricey and tricky to get a seat. I’d recommend going early and spending a few hours to make it worth the entrance.

Beautifully serene space within the busy city of Kathmandu. Great way to escape the hustle and bustle if you need a nice space to take a quiet walk and read a book.

One of the best places to visit in Kathmandu. Located in the city and yet filled with peace and tranquility. It has beautiful flowers and is filled with greenery. The restaurants inside are great.. Ideal for a stroll and for clicking pictures.

There is really nothing dream-worthy about this garden. It is a small garden financed by the Austrian government in downtown Kathmandu. There is a 400 Rupee entrance fee, which I think was not worth it. The place is green and there are benches to relax, and normally, it is not very crowded.

We are not sure the purpose of the visiting for nowadays (based on our own experienced coz at Kashmir also local suggest is to visit the garden), maybe the culture or during passed time this place suitable. Anyway it's a good maintained place with clean & fresh ambiance. Got entrance fees.

During my last visit, I went to the Garden of dreams, as I was an international visitor I have to pay 400 NPR as a ticket bill. this building has the vibe of eastern Europe and a big palace. The Garden of Dreams the Garden of Six Seasons, is a neo-classical garden in Kaiser Mahal Kathmandu, Nepal, built-in 1920. Designed by Kishore Narshingh, it consists of 6,895 square meters (74,220 sq ft) of gardens with three pavilions, an amphitheater, ponds, pergolas, and urns. From the mid-1960s, upon the death of its patron, Kaiser Sumsher Rana. The Garden, which featured a design inspired by the Edwardian style, was considered one of the most sophisticated private gardens of that time. Landscape architect Kishore Narshingh, designer of Singha Durbar and architect to Shumsher's father, the Maharaja, designed and supervised the construction of the Garden of Dreams. if you stayed in Thamel, the garden of the dreams is one of the cool places to visit. you can spent a lazy afternoon over there, there is a small coffee shop inside the garden of dreams.

As a tourist, I enjoy the place a lot. There are crows and chipmunks in the area and a nice place to chill and relax. There are also a lot of flowers and the ambiance is good. I would highly suggest this place to my friends who will visit Nepal.

  • 4/5 Little G. 10 months ago on Google
Beautiful place, though not as big as they charge price (NPR 400). However, it's a good break amongst the busy city traffic and crowd. Some beautiful plants and flowers and quiet places to sit and relax. Liked the me time there... Note: Make sure you bring NPR. They refused to take INR (9 June 2023). However, there is an ATM and Money Exchanger 100 steps from the entrance.

  • 4/5 Grace F. 11 months ago on Google
Not too much here but $5 to escape the Thamel noise and traffic for a few hours and smell some flowers? Heck yes it's worth it. Also a great spot for photography but do go early during the day as it gets busy after 11am.

  • 3/5 Risu R. 2 years ago on Google
A good place to be only if you are a native to Nepal. Considering the amount they charge you when you are a foreigner is too high for what they have to offer. Specially during the weekends its a very crowded place (the number of people going there are way too much than the place is supposed to handle ) If you really wanna go, there I would suggest going on a weekdays as it's a very quite and beautiful place to be. Other than the entry fee and crowd, its pretty nice place to be.

Great place near Thamel. I visited this place after trek with my girlfriend. Not so many people due to Corona.

  • 4/5 ragini p. 2 years ago on Google
Looking at the existing reviews n photos i thought it will be a huge place , with lot of unique plantation. But to my surprise, it was not very big. It has an entry price too, its 400 for adult foreigners, while for Nepalese people its less. Its in an english style so if one likes english structures its good. Overall a peaceful place to visit in the heart of the city.!

  • 4/5 Ranj S. 1 year ago on Google
A place of real tranquility in amongst the chaos of the streets of Nepal! It’s a real treasure so go check is out. I paid in Indian rupees (around 250). It was fairly busy with lots of people sitting around enjoy the sun and it was fun watching some of the TikTok generation making their videos!

  • 4/5 Terka N. 2 years ago on Google
Great place to relax in Kathmandu, green and calm, you can walk around freely or sot on the grass or numerous benches. The cafe there is closed and there's not amy shop to get water. Also it's smaller then it looks like from pictures and entry fee is 400 NRP. It's still a great place to visit and hide from all the noise and chaosy just don't count on spending too much time there since it's small.

  • 4/5 Navin B. 1 year ago on Google
The green garden among the crowd of thamel and durbarmarg. A perfect place for the book readers, and natural scenery or greenery lovers. The squirrels will steal your heart.. But wish you Don't disturb them though. Cafe there was taken out don't know for what reasons.. But an affordable cafe or restro is necessary there. Well if you need peace do visit Ticket 150 for Nepalese around 400 or 500 for tourist

  • 3/5 Mohd yaqub K. 1 year ago on Google
It is a very small park with European influence infrastructure. The park has few photographic spots and is mostly crowded with lovers. The ticket was expensive approximately 400 npr as compared to the park areas. The park is situated adjacent to the main road. It has a few cafeterias and a washroom inside the park. It has one small temple inside the park.

  • 5/5 Milan R. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful place for photography and hang out with friends also close to thamel. Keep in mind the photos aren't good at the midday as all structure are white. Afternoon is serene here. Well there isn't much to do than take pictures.

Amidst the choas of the city, this garden is like a breath of fresh air with elaborate fountains and greenery around. Yet, it is actually very small for a garden. Nonetheless, very pleasing to the eye.
