The
Park
was
built

the
investment
of
Rs

million
of
Kathmandu
Metropolis
and
Rs
40
million
of
Madhyapur
Thimi
municipality
under
the
Town-Town
Collaboration
Programme.
On
the
occasion
of
Shankhadhar
Day,
Kathmandu
metropolis
mayor
Bidya
Sundhar
Shakya
inaugurated
the
park
amidst
a
programme
on
Sunday.
He
shared
the
metropolis
has
been
providing
support
to
12
municipalities
of
the
Valley
for
the
construction
of
religious
and
tourism
parks
as
well
as
the
multi-purpose
parks.
'Kathmandu
metropolis
is
the
oldest
and
the
most
resourceful
cultural
town.
It
also
has
the
obligation
to
help
adjoining
municipalities
in
their
bid
to
construct
public
places.
Construction
of
Sankhadhar
Park
was
a
manifestation
of
town-town
collaboration',
mayor
Shakya
added.
Also
speaking
on
the
occasion,
Madhyapurthimi
municipality
Mayor
Madan
Sundar
Shrestha
said,
'We
had
approved
a
master
plan
with
a
total
budget
of
Rs
130
million
for
the
park
construction'.
The
first
phase
of
its
construction
has
been
finalized
and
remaining
portion
has
been
planned
for
the
next
tenure,
Shrestha
said,
expressing
his
confidence
that
the
KIMC
would
extend
further
financial
support
in
the
upcoming
year
to
complete
the
backlog
of
construction
works.
The
park
stretched
over
the
area
of
13
ropani
has
water
fountain,
stone-carved
step,
hanging
garden,
stone
spout,
MP
theatre
and
green
garden.
According
to
the
master
plan,
Green
Park,
children
park,
traditional
hall,
statue
of
Shankhadhar
Sakhwa,
big
conge,
rock
climbing
and
rope
climbing
spots
are
to
be
constructed
in
remaining
five
ropanis
of
land.
At
the
programme,
Kathmandu
metropolis
Deputy
Mayor
Hari
Prabha
Khadgi
Shrestha
said
the
metropolitan
city
has
emphatically
collaborated
for
the
preservation
of
culture
and
heritage.
