Balaju Park has a massive area. Its major attractions include 22 dhara (stone water sprouts) '२२ धारा', 21 of which were built in 17th century by King Jay Prakash Malla & 1 added by King Jayasthiti Malla, along with a sleeping Statue of Hindu God Bal Nilkantha 'बाल नीलकण्ठ' (Replica statue of Budanilkantha). Adding to that, its well maintained gardens, ponds with fishes, and glimpses of monkeys from the forest make for a perfect day out at this place for both family and couples.

If you are willing to get fresh in the morning, then it could be best to visit this place. Many people were walking, running, exercising, and doing meditation in the morning. I like this place. Every day, I used to come and do the starting of my day. You can see the monkeys in this park and greenery around there.

The tranquility of Balaju Park is a sanctuary for many, a place where the hustle and bustle of the city fades into the background, replaced by the harmonious symphony of nature. The rustling leaves, the chirping birds, and the gentle breeze that carries the scent of fresh earth and blooming flowers, all contribute to an overwhelming sense of peace. The park, with its well-maintained paths and lush greenery, offers a much-needed respite from the concrete jungle. However, this sense of peace is often marred by the untimely cleanliness and lack of control over littering visitors. It’s disheartening to see candy wrappers strewn across the paths, plastic bottles floating in the pond, and food waste littering the picnic areas. The sight of overflowing trash bins is a stark contrast to the natural beauty of the park. The dissatisfaction stems not just from the unsightly mess, but also from the disregard for nature and public property. It’s disconcerting to see visitors leave behind their trash, oblivious to the impact on the environment and on other visitors’ experiences. The park authorities’ efforts in maintaining cleanliness are commendable but are often undone by irresponsible visitors. The lack of strict enforcement measures against littering further exacerbates the issue. In conclusion, while Balaju Park continues to be a haven of peace for many, it’s high time that both visitors and authorities take stronger action against littering to preserve its beauty and serenity.

Comfortable place to go and relax during off day. This is not a quiet place during public holidays though. But the gardens, taps, temples and ponds are beautiful. You can have a short hike in the forest as well. I would recommend visiting this place in the early morning as the crowd is larger during the daytime. Or you can visit on weekdays to experience this place being quiet.

Small yet beautiful. You can enjoy peaceful time with your friends and loved ones away from clutter of city. Located just outside ringroad, easily accessible by public vehicles. Watching fish in fishpond is my favourite one there. Not maintained well though.

Balaju Park in Kathmandu is a tranquil haven. With beautiful gardens, ancient stone spouts, and a serene atmosphere, it offers a peaceful escape from the city. The park's well-maintained trails, picnic spots, and the Balaju Baisdhara temple complex add to its allure. A must-visit destination for those seeking serenity amidst Kathmandu's chaos.

This place used to be the eye of an attraction in 90s, most of the Nepali songs describe this place but as of right now, the park is in deteriorating state, the maintenance is poor, the decorations are not attractive and creative. So concerned authorities should take the initiative to improve and upgrade the state of the park and make proper rules and regulations so that public also should take responsibilities to clean, safe guarding the park as their own place.

🍺🌹 A suggestion to park is the necessity of a SITTING PLACE with inner trees SHADE outside left of the entrance gate for people. That´s a small attentive common sense as a benevolent act that should be performed by the park adminis. It´ll be much useful for the walkers to rest there for a while from the side of the park. Shaddy trees have to be planted inside the railing wall; and a long sitting cemented bench-like plinth wall is quite better to be built joining the outside wall. Balaju park actually in these days is being made beautiful, newly constructed and reformed by the metropolitan municipality. ✌😎

So much expected of this place but the dry hitis (ancient dhungedharas) make onself so sad. Apart from that parks has been well maintained. Still so many things give artifical ambience in such a holy place. Also the abode of lord vishnu and important watershed source of drinking water in the valley.

The place is an old park as well as religious place. The 22 water spouts used to be a bathing place for many people from Kathmandu Valley, specially the ones who did not had good access to water in their residence. The popular name for the place is बालाजु २२ धारा (Balaju 22 Dhara) The place is also a popular touristic site. The place has the first public swimming pool in Kathmandu. The place needs face-lift. The place is near from downtown and tourist hub Thamel.

Balaju 22 Dhara was a pleasant getaway in the metropolis that I just explored. There was a calm environment brought about by the 22 water spouts' soothing sound and the verdant surroundings.

It's clean and interesting place anyone can visit. The price of ticket per individual tends to be Rs 25. There is a water fountain, temple, statues, a fish farm and a spacious garden. This place also is good for picnic and for children.

This is a very interesting religious park. The design of park average for me but the temple complex is quite interesting. The park space is mostly covered with recreational spaces. Also, here lies the famous bais dhara ( 22 water spouts) which fortunately are still intact. The park extends upwards to the hills connected to nargarjuna but not till there. Overall, this is a big park with lots of people visiting it.

Beautiful and well designed park along with a temple inside it. Unfortunately there was no water flowing out of tap which is disappointing as it is famous for Bais Dhara-22 Taps. Lakes are well designed and looks cool but the water seems dirty which is common in most of the lakes in Kathmandu valley. This park is suitable for short and sweet refreshment.

  • 4/5 ishwor s. 2 years ago on Google
It was average park during winter but during summer the flowers and the natural beauty is praise worthy. Has historical significance ranging from Narayan statute for royals and 22 stone taps. It also hosts a mela with great religious significance once a year. It had swimming pool but don't know how it's condition is right now.

A strand of nature surrounded by concrete jungle which also lies on one of the starting point of Nagarjun Forest. Since they already take ticket for the entrance they better make the area clean and well maintained. Due to its lack of proper management only certain portion of the park is worth chilling.

Park is not so crowded. Plenty of space to enjoy. Quite most of the time. Recently, it has become hangout place for 🐒🐒 monkeys as well. So watch out for them while you are eating.
