We did the ABC trek, and the store had what we needed for the trek. The Owner, Kamal, is very friendly and helpful. He didn't try to get us to buy things we didn't need for the trek, and only recommended taking what's necessary. We bought almost all of our gear from the store including a pair of pants, rain jacket, fleece jacket, thermal underwear pants, sleeping bag, backpack, poles, socks, gloves, and head lamps. The prices were fair as compared to the other stores. The items did last for the duration of the trip and we plan on using them in the future. With the exception of the rain jacket, which wasn't as breathable as we had hoped, the items performed as expected.

I came to this shop to buy everything needed for a trek to Everest Base Camp including bag, poles, pants, fleece, down jacket, socks, sleeping bag etc. Top quality products and great service with great advice from the owner and staff. Highly recommended! Trip to EBC was also awesome!

If you want to get good quality, at a good price, and purchase a local brand (rather than fake brands) , you must visit this shop. We did ABC trek (May) and the clothes was more than enough. Highly recommendable!

In one of the most air polluted cities in the world, Kamal is a breath of fresh air. As first time trekkers from Canada, we are suffocated by the many shops trying to scam us. Perhaps one of the friendliest services in Thamel, Kamal also offers great deals the more you rent or purchase. I was in need of a warm jacket, and I visited OC because of the reviews. So happy I did! It's true that you will not be upsold. He gives very honest advice about what he thinks you'll need for whatever activity you plan to do. I noticed a really beautiful (more expensive) jacket while I was there, and he told me that it would be overkill for my needs, but he explained what situations the jacket would be good for, so that I could make an informed decision. I ended up going with the jacket he originally suggested (which was less expensive), and I was impressed with his knowledge and advice! Update to add that the jacket kept me nice and warm at 5k meters! And I always run cold

Five star for quality satisfaction. Thamel has hundreds of shop for trekking and outdoor apparels but it’s very difficult to find a genuine goods at reasonable price . Either most of them supply lower quality for cheap price or highly overpriced branded showrooms . But at Outdoor compass , you can find that all items in the store are simply of genuine quality and yet at very competitive price . I have been using their products since many years and never have any bad experience using them . Also the boss is very concerned about customer satisfaction and sincere for supplying quality products .

Very good shop in Thamel. Totally recommend it! I was looking for a rain jacket and warm sweater for trekking and the personal took time to advise me and let me try different sorts. Their English and knowledge of trekking clothe is much better than most other places I went to.
