“I just had my 2 sisters stay in the dorm and it was clean and efficient. At 500 Rs a dorm bed it’s the best hotel in Boudha . They have just opened so they had some small issues but the staff are great and they fixed them right away . I am going to use them for my family when they come to Boudha.

I just stayed at this new Female Only Dorm in Boudha. The just opened up and the price is 500 NRS a night . It clean , it’s simple , they are next to Karma Coffee and Utpala Cafe . I stayed 4 nights . As they were not busy they gave me the 4 bed dorm and I was in my own . So I had a single room

Utpala Hostel is perfectly located in Kathmandu if you're searching for a conscious place not far away from the ancient Boudhanath Stupa, one of the biggest and most important stupas for buddhist pilgrims all over the world. You can find a lot of shops, cafés and restaurants in the neighborhood with vegetarian and vegan options. The staff is helpful and kind and the dorm was clean and inviting. I really enjoyed my stay and I'ld definitely recommend Utpala Hostel! Hope to come again :)

Very very affordable and clean plus its just a minute walk to Boudha Stupa which is very good if you’re a spiritual person trying to know Tibetan culture better. I stayed in a dorm room so I made some good friends from Ladakh & the Netherlands. The receptionist was very pretty & friendly. It was really a very good experience & I’d look forward to stay here as long as I’m in the city.

kindest and most helpful staff, great location and very beautiful scenery. Warm water and drinking water available. Quiet and calm enviroment. Private Room was a little shabby, but clean. Great quality-price ratio.

I stayed in the mixed dorm room for 2 nights and found the room very clean and the beds comfortable with cutters for privacy and individual lights. There was room for some locks if wanted and the reception was very kind and answering any questions via whatapp quickly if they’re err not there. Would recommend and return :)

Great place to stay if you are visiting Bodnath and Pashupatinah, also not far from the airport. The beds are warm and comfortable and the service is great ! Very nice coffee place nextdoor as well

I have been staying here since few days. You can have here both dormitory and single, double room whichever you want to prefer. It is owned by ka-nying sherdrupling monastery which is nearby this home stay. It is really one of the cheapest, affordable and clean facilitated for outsiders to stay near baudha stupa with adorable receptionist Phurpi Lama and other servers to help you fully.

I really like this utpala hostel 🏠 because they thought for all of us. means, they think for rich and poor people..some don't have much money so they don't get a guest house to stay..but this guest house has all types of rooms…for poor for cheap price and for rich for expensive price.. means private room and public hall…hostel is really good at all and room no need to say 😍 if you're around the boudha stupa then you must visit utpala hostel at once… @Phurpi lama

Utpala is the only hostel in the Boudha Vicinity that I know and I know the area well. Nice clean friendly simply a good deal when travelling on a budget. Plus the amazing restaurant with buffets and cafes Right next to it. Enjoy!

Me and my friends stayed four nights in this new HOTEL.(only for girls) Its BRAND NEW property. The staffs are so good and disciplined. This newly opened hotel was so clean and the housekeepers keep the entire rooms so neat and clean. We strongly recommend to stay in this wonderful hotel just near the BOUDHANATH STUPA. This is a very nice Hostel close to Boudha but in a good price! Near it there is the Utpala Caffe which is very nice to go to aswell Quit, clean hot water And great service :)

I have expereince in different hostel in other countries as well as in kathmandu. I came with high expectation but somewhat disappointed. The price was good, 500 per beds in a 10-bed dorm room. The location of the hostel is nice and close to the stupa, however, below are reasons I do not recommend: Poorly maintained facility -not every bed has curtan. It's fine, but some beds with one side facing window became literally transparent from outside at night time. -not every bed's individual light and plug is ok to use. -window can't be closed. result is many mosquitos. -many small and big cuckcrochs...they are really everywhere, and can be often seen even with light on. -many times no water. During my stay, luckily only 2 people in the room, so we don't have to fight for the toilet, but the water was gone for many times during my two nights stay. Can't imagine what will happened if the room is pack. -no hot water for shower. It's Sep, night time still is cold with old water. Location -it's great that it is close to stupa, but at the same time, very noisy at night time when bike running by, and in the morning at 5 or 6am when people talking and walking. My room is on 1st floor facing street. Maybe they have other dorm room I don't know. But I had very short and bad sleep constantly being disturb. Service -When I checked in, the trash can is full. For the period I stayed, it has never been clean. -They have water in reception to fill, which is a plus point, but night time it's close. When no water in the morning and evening, no garantee to find help. Generally, the price is prabably the cheapest in Boudha. Location is good. Still alright to stay for budget purpose. But water problem and cuckcroch is something that my personally can't accept. This place has potential to become a nice backpacker hub in the future, but need more care and maintainness.

I stayed in dorm room with 10 beds and I loved it. One of the best thing about this place is the cleanliness. I suggest people who wanted to stay in group should visit this place. They also have private room with both shared and attached bathroom. Also, utpala hostel is very affordable as compare to other hotels in Boudha.Utpala cafe is a just there too.
