法起寺は606年に聖徳太子が法華経を講説された岡本寺を寺に改めたことが始まりで、法隆寺、四天王寺、中宮寺、広隆寺、橘寺（聖徳太子生誕寺）、葛木寺とともに太子建立七ヶ寺の一つに数えられています。
高さ23.9m。
