I was a bit confused at my arrival as there is a line for women and one for men. A had an young lady that explained in English how it works. She walked me to the locker/changing room only females. After that she pointed out where the massage were gelded and told me the time for it as well. I had time to try the Turkish, finish and Russian sauna. There is a pool on the middle floor and a cafe on the upper one. There is two floors with all three showers and cold water buckets too. There is an area where you can do you own scrubbing. Everything is register on your bracelet. My recommendation is that you bring your flip-flop towel and shower cap (locals use the felted cap for protection of the heat). You can also bring your own exfoliating soap or the loofah too; some people bring there own veniki (branches). Lockers are included on the price. Afternoons are more expensive than mornings but I got a deal that if I had a massage the sauna time was unlimited! I loved the experience and it was very affordable too. A must on your visit of Almaty! All locals do it so should you too!

A must for any traveller & very interesting if u do the public bath. Its superbig, its very authentic, very clean and very naked. The russian sauna is insanely hot, I almost burned my feet. In the basement they hv 8 private Spas which you rent as a couple or group. Each about 60qm big, spotlessly clean, with pool, sauna, big table to socialise or eat&drink. My favorite is still the public bath upstairs!

The place was an easy find. As soon as we entered a lady welcomed us and explained everything as we were first timers. We took 1 hour stay and which was 1800 Tenge as it was morning and weekday. And there was an offer if we book another service worth 5000tenge our stay will be made unlimited. As we also booked a massage our stay was unlimited. We took slippers 300 tenge and towel 700 tenge for rent. As we were leaving by evening flight we didn’t want to wet our own towels. They give you a bracelet which will act as your locker key and anything you access inside will be billed to that. Went to the lockers and got into the towel. Most of them were roaming naked. But we can keep our briefs. Had a 5min steam bath and I could not stay longer as my ears were burning with heat. Came out had a bath and went for the massage. Later after coming out came to know that there will be head protectors which will protect the head from the steam. It’s better to buy one if you want to enjoy the steam for a longer time. After the massage went and enjoyed the TURKISH steam, Finnish Steam, Russian steam. Swam in the pool for some time. Spent some time in the wooden tub kind of thing and came out fresh. It was good experience. One should not miss it.

This is a pretty nice spa overall. It’s a little pricey when you add in extras but it has a lot of space. There’s a Russian banya, Finnish sauna and steam room and they have cold dipping stations and pools. Bring some flip flops and extra towel if you need. You can rent a towel but it’ll be soaked by the time you finish.

One of the “hottest” places in Almaty. I personally enjoy visiting this amazing place with my friends whenever I visit this city. Absolutely astounding architecture and technology from the Soviet times. I suggest to spent at least half of your day here, so that after going through all the washing up procedures you’d feel as if you were newly born. Your skin becomes so silky soft and your soul wants to sing early morning bird songs!

Very clean. I will share the basic information here. This SPA is divided into two sections, women and men. They can’t meet inside. There are three saunas and a pool. Swimwear is only allowed in Saunas. (You cannot wear it in a pool) You will need a slippers or sandals to wear in sauna. (No flip flops are allowed) You can borrow a pair of sandals for 300Tenge. The entrance price will be different depending on how long you will stay, and if it’s after 4pm, and weekdays or weekends.

A highlight of my trip to Kazakhstan! I was grateful that there was an English speaking woman who showed me around and explained things to me. There was also an English service menu. I got a spa package that included a body scrub, wrap, and massage. It was very affordable for the services and quality of services. My masseuse was thorough, professional, friendly, and made me feel very comfortable. Everything was clean. You can rent or bring your own towel, flip flops, and robe. I recommend bringing your own shampoo/conditioner but they do have soap there too. The men and women were in separate spaces and in the women’s section most women were naked in the bath/hammam area. A very liberating experience for an American as this is not typical for us! You are given a bracelet that opens a locker where you can safely store your items. 10/10 experience! I feel amazing and relaxed.

Amazing experience at Arasan! An English-speaking staff member took us through all the options and took care of us until we entered the bath. The men division of the building is absolutely stunning, all baths are very clean and locals are friendly and willing to share their best practices on how to get things done properly

As a tourist , this is a must thing to do while in Almaty..while the structure looks medieval its been modernised though i would have loved it traditional..everything is good about this place and I had an amazing never before experience. Its best to take a brief from the reception the process how it works. Ask for an english speaking staff if you do not know local or Russian language...the Hall has an option of 3 massage rooms East Asian Russian and Finnish You could take a break and dip into a barrel of flowing water and go back for the sauna. You can also swim then walk up to the bar grab some beer and head out for a massage They have a great set of masseurs. While most locals go fully naked , you could opt to rent out disposable inner wears and flipflops. Its an experience not to be missed

Men and women are separated. Bring your own : - towel - slippers - shower cap (otherwise 110T) - sheet (otherwise 500T) - scrub glove (can be bought at the spa shop) I bought 2 hours and they gave me extra 20 min. You get 10% discount as some works are held in the women section. There is a Turkish bath, Russian steam room, finish sauna and a swimming pool at upper floor. Most of women were naked, I saw some with disposable panties.

Stay away, they cheat tourists. We paid the full amount, later they stopped us two timed times as we are leaving. They stop us to pay for towels, then for the sheets and for bath robes. We asked them if they have towels before the first payment and said yes.. I suggest to all tourists to avoid coming to this cheating place.

Pretty cool place. Highly recommended. Come with your bathing kit and a hat to protect from the steam. Bring towels and slippers if possible. Also get the whisking leaves they sell outside, cheers

I'm absolutely amazed by this place! The architecture is magnificent, the facilities are clean and spacious. My sister-in-law brought me here while I was visiting Almaty. She also paid for a scrub and massage service, which was done unforgettably great by Aiman. If I lived in this beautiful city, I would have made sure to visit this place frequently.

Has a nice experience but was really spoiled by the ending. I very clearly indicated to the masseuse the service that I wanted (60 minute treatment 15min peeling/45min massage). It was supposed to be 16K. When I went to leave apparently in the span of 60 minutes the masseuse had also completed three other treatments that I didn't ask for (all done concurrently?). Idk how you do 150 mins worth of services in 60 mins? Anyways had to argue with the cashier and they brought the masseuse and two other staff to the floor and I had to literally explain basic arithmetic of time summation and how the bill is impossible. Extremely annoying and uncomfortable. Even after getting it corrected I still overpaid. Cool facility but wish the staff weren't so scummy.

    Updated but old-fashioned Soviet bathhouse.

  • 5/5 Daren R. 11 months ago on Google
fantastic authentic bathhouse. Dana was hailed upon our arrival as she spoke flawless english and explained subtleties of this bathhouse vs others we've been to. the russian steam is highlight and is smoking hot. only complaint is having booked a "classic" massage the therapist asked me if i wanted it or "sport" and falsified the amount of pressure used in both such that i naturally selected "sport" which ended up costing 40% more (and is not even technically on the menu!) - not cool. no need to play rip off the tourist but it is russian after all.

A very basic spa with a similar concept to what you get at Korea or Japan. It was only alright to me, very Soviet style and nothing compared to what you can get in Asia. They could do with improving the building aesthetics or renovating the interior. There is a cafe in the bathhouse but it was very humid there, service was extremely slow and to top it of, it was expensive in there. The spa packages are quite worth it although you should skip on the massages. They can’t find your pressure points well and the massage was painful rather than relaxing. I liked the scrub and the wrap was an interesting experience. If you’re bored in Almaty and don’t know what to do, you can consider to come here although be aware that we only encountered a grand total of one English speaking staff so a translation app would be handy to have.

Tourist here! I came to this spa with my children and I found out there was an entry fee so we paid it.... The Receptionist told us that everything was available so we entered just to find out that there was no Manicure or pedicure available for the kids!! And to make it worse the timings were outrageous for example the facial starting at 8 pm..... and everything else was after 5:30 pm that too when we wanted a refund because of the poor management they told us that could not! Instead of giving us the refund or letting us go they tried to make us stay by saying what there was! Then 25 minutes later we got the refund but still I would never recommend it ever!

Soap massage is normal. 9000 Tenge for 45mins. 5000 for peeling. Peeling is good. Your skin feel soft n supple after the scrub. Trying once is good enough for massage but I will come back for the throughout scrub.

We were here last night (01.17.24) and our experienced exceed our expectation. We are first timer in a bath house. As a Filipino we were not custom to being totally naked around strangers, first i was shy to go all the way naked, but then the experience liberated me, so i set aside my shyness and go naked as well as the majorities. We ordered a 45 minutes massage (naked) worth 12,000 KZT as of writing this and it was bitter sweet feeling. It’s like you kinda like it then it gets rough and you just don’t it like anymore. Lol kudos to our masseurs though. Highly knowledgeable and professional. To avoid paying extra just bring your own towel and flip flops or just rent it on at the reception. There is a pool, 3 kinds of Saunas (English, Finnish and Russian) and a barrel of cold water that you can dip your body as long as you could. Liquid soap and shampoo are provided by the establishment. Café and smoking area as at the higher floor of the building. Overall it was a very good experience and we will definitely go back when we return to Almaty in the near future.
