I was bar hopping around Almaty and Hopers were definitely my favourite by far. A vast collection of craft beers for a decent price. The atmosphere was what you'd expect from a bar on a Tuesday night. Worth a visit if you're a craft beer junkie.

What's with all the reviews about 'friendly service' ? The bartender was seemingly good with English yet he chose to act arrogant when we asked him if the beer could be any more chilled. Things like these are exactly what disappoint tourists and ruin their perspective about a place and it's people. Whether you have something or not, the least you could be is polite with tourists/ customers.

The beer was warm. When I informed the bar tender, he disagreed in a seemingly rude and condescending tone without even checking the temperature. I was expecting him to be helpful and check the temperature at least so that he could fix it for other guests. I did not even want a replacement. These things ruin the experience. Any beer drinker would agree that beer is best served chilled or cold. Bad customer service. Very average beer.

Great beer, however the service really spoiled it for me. I was a tourist in town, and was excited to try beer from Kazakhstan (or that part of the world in general). The bartender spoke English yet everything seemed to be a problem; asking where it was brewed got me a short/snarky answer, asking to sample a small taste before ordering a pint got me major attitude and muttering under his breath, and then finally asking for the receipt seemed to be outside the realm of his comprehension. I’m not sure why the bartender seemed aggressive, the bar was by no means busy. Seeing the tip jar on the bar made me laugh - if he enjoyed his job and didn’t make me feel like a burden then I would have happily tipped. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case and tainted what would have been a nice beer in a chill environment.

Wow! This place is the coolest! So many different craft beers. It seemed like the sister bar to my favorite place in Portland. Definitely worth checking out.

The best craft beer bar in Almaty with two locations. Arman behind the bar was very helpful. Hopers local beer on draft with lots of other Russian beers. Big selection of cans with option to sample some on draft. Takeaway discount available.

Had their Hoppers IPA. It is Very good. definitely recommend it.
