Easy to walk to even in winter... stunning frozen piece of nature

Lovely Waterfall in a beautiful valley very close to Almaty. Only takes about 49 minutes to walk up to the waterfall from the end of the road.

I visited in winter when it was all frozen. Looked wonderful and the area it was in was a great winter play area covered in snow that was good enough to even snowboard in and ski on a little bit at least. Areas here for having winter BBQ as well. Hiked with my two children 10 and 5 years old. They both made it to the waterfal in about an hour and half.

Nice big waterfall, go early morning, later it is overcrowded. We went from Medeu, little harder but really nice views and silence. Enjoing the nature

The waterfall itself is surely a wonderful natural creation. The roads are also clearly marked and the destination is easily found. The route is a bit challenging for inexperienced travellers, but overall the trip to the waterfall is of an easy level. What is definitely a negative side of that destination is the people who try to litter to route and make noise. At the beginning of the route there are lots of commercial leisure eating out places in the format's of traditional yurts that can be rented. There are placed in the proximity of the parking. Locals rent those yurts and occupy them massively, cooking, drinking, making noise. But the rest of the route is not so populated. The closer you get to the waterfall the less people there.

Quite a long and rocky walk. Though, one feels good when walk is done and waterfall is reached.

1 hour walk with the last 20 minutes being relatively demanding. the waterfall is nice but not amazing but the route is very scenic! Given its proximity to the city, it is one of the best trails you can get

Last 4KM for walk only. Around 1 hour return to the start place. ICE Waterfall amazing.

If you want a long journey choose a path which started from Medeo. If faster and easier then go through Butakovka's turn

A bit tough to climb but the view is spectacular!
