An diesem Ort war mal eine befestigte Siedlung. Die Umrisse der Befestigungsanlagen sind bis heute gut erkennbar. Später, im 18. Jahrhundert wurde auf dem Gipfel ein Aussichtsturm errichtet. Dieser wurde allerdings zerstört und der neue Turm ist deutlich jünger. Von oben ist super Aussicht auf die Umgebung. Zum Turm führen auch mehrere bequeme Fußwege. Der Wald auf dem Berg hat allerdings in den letzten Jahren sehr gelitten. Viele Bäume sind gestorben. Das ist schon etwas trauriges Bild.

Der Hausberg hat mit 486m ü.M. ohne den Turm eine weitreichende Geschichte. In Oes parkt man am extra Wanderparkplatz von dem aus ein ca.1km langer Fußweg bis zum Turm führt. Von da aus gehen verschiedene Rundwanderwege aus. Der Parkplatz ist nicht Barriere- aber kostenfrei. Der Weg ist grob geschottert. Es gibt weder am Parkplatz noch am Turm absolut keine Mülleimer aber genügend Menschen, denen das egal ist! Hier müssen regelmäßig andere Aufräumen, da es Erwachsene Menschen nicht schaffen ihren mitgebrachten Müll einfach zu Hause zu entsorgen!

Very nice observation tower at the top of the Hausberg near Butzbach. This is still a real wooden tower with a 360 degree panoramic view. Access is free of charge. The parking lot at Oes is the closest to the tower, from there the observation tower is a 1000 meter walk away

A really great hiking highlight. Wonderful view over almost half of Hesse 😊. Lots of benches and plenty of space to rest. In general, a great hiking area with a varied environment.

Schönes Ausflugziel mit vielen Sitzmöglichkeiten um den Turm. Parkplatz einen Kilometer entfernt, Weg ist nicht Kinderwagen- oder Rollstuhlgerecht.

Beautiful tower with a great view. There are three picnic tables with benches in front of the tower.

Very nice walk. Halfway along the trail there is a bench and table to rest. After a little refreshment, you can then enjoy a great tower with a beautiful view after the final sprint to the tower (all in all, about 1 hour). There are loungers and seats around the tower and even a hut where you can be protected from rain, wind and weather. Highly recommended!

When visibility is good, an incredible panorama! From Taunus via Wetterau, Vogelsberg to Westerwald. The plateau is historically interesting because the Celts lived here. A trip that is worth it. Directions from Butzbach Hochweisel or Butzbach Oes. Paths are well developed, but a bit steep in places and you also have to climb a few steps to get to the tower, but it's worth it.

Sooooo beautiful, that was a great day in Butzbach - literally “topped” by the tower on the local mountain 😊 The view was great and the view all around was very clear. The tower's patrons are displayed on the steps, beams, etc. So loving 🥰 We would love to come back.

On a clear day you have a great all-round view all the way to the Feldberg.
