Die Recherche vorher war dank der interessanten Philosophie des Lokals verheißungsvoll und hat uns erwartungsvoll gemacht. Leider wurden die hohen Erwartungen, die wir nicht zuletzt durch das teure Preisgefüge hatten, aber nicht bestätigt. Als wir im Lokal an unseren Plätzen waren hatten wir nicht besonders viel Platz, man sitzt eng. Leider war der Service nicht gut und statt sich im Laufe des Abends hundertmal zu entschuldigen, wäre das Abstellen des Mangels die bessere Lösung gewesen. Ich wollte ein Masterpiece-Rumpsteak essen, das zwar auf der Karte stand, aber leider nicht erhältlich war. Stattdessen haben wir uns Australian Rib Eyes bestellt, die aber unsere Erwartungen an das Fleisch nicht erfüllt haben, weil es teilweise schon sehr flachsig war. Ich bin besseres Fleisch gewohnt und bei dem Preis fand ich es enttäuschend. Außerdem bin ich aus den USA bin ich gewöhnt, dass es Kartoffeln zum Essen dazu gibt, aber das nur nebenbei erwähnt. Dass der Caesar Salad mit 4 Croutons, 4 Blättern Salat und ein etwas Parmesan nur die Größe eines Beilagensalats hatte, war letztendlich auch noch stimmig. Ich will hier nicht das Pier 51 wirklich nicht verreißen, aber die durch die sympathische Philosophie und dem exquisiten Preisgefüge geweckten hohen Erwartungen wurden einfach nicht erfüllt. Das Preis-/ Leistungsverhältnis passte nicht. Schade! Wohlwollende 3 Sterne…
