I
discovered
this
darling
park
when
I
was
grabbing
coffee
at
Our
Grounds
which
is
located
nearby.
I
couldn't
help
but
notice
the
adorable
playground
set
among
beautiful
landscaping.
The
park
is
on
a
large
field
that
sits
adjacent
to
the
William
Lehman
Elementary
School.
It
turns
out
everything
in
the
nature
based
playground
is
brand
new.
A
ribbon
cutting
ceremony
was
held
on
May
31st
of
this
year.
The
city
spent
$500,000
from
the
Quality
Neighborhood
Improvement
Program
and
impact
fees
to
redesigned
the
playground
with
the
goal
of
getting
children
to
spend
more
time
outside
and
to
encourage
them
to
appreciate
nature
through
play.
The
4,510-square-foot
play
area
contains
inclusive
playground
equipment
and
Australian
pine
logs
were
added
to
provide
seating.
Playground
equipment
includes
climbing
nets,
a
double
tower,
spring
riders,
swings,
a
play
and
learn
panel,
and
musical
instruments
to
play.
New
landscaping
including
five
oak
trees,
sod,
and
native
pollinator
plants
along
with
concrete
curbing,
walkways,
benches,
and
bike
racks
were
added
to
enhance
the
area.
The
result
of
all
of
the
improvements
is
a
inviting
play
area
for
the
community
children.
Improvements
at
Sabal
Chase
are
part
of
the
Miami-Dade
County
Parks
and
Open
Space
Master
Plan
which
is
a
vision
to
create
a
sustainable
system
of
parks,
recreation
and
open
spaces
for
the
citizens
of
Miami.
