Bottom line: My loved one was given no fighting chance by this place from start to end. From Day 1, our family witnessed and experienced robotic, uncaring and chart obsessed staff. Countless staff publicly expressed their personal opinions about our loved one's prognosis. Some sides were absolutely atrocious. I truly believe we made a MONUMENTAL mistake coming here. This place epitomizes the worst of an allegedly "award winning" hospital. Please....if your loved one is diagnosed with cancer, DO NOT EVER consider this place for more than the 3 minutes it took you to read this. If Google allowed 0 stars, this place deserves it.

Very nice experience as a patient’s caregiver. The employees were friendly, polite and very accommodating. The hospital is beautiful and well taken care of. From the facilities, to the gardens and the parking garages. You can tell it’s new and it’s well maintained. The nurses were awesome. And the doctor was great. The only thing I would like them to improve is the organization for international patients. The information that was provided was very last minute and they never returned phone calls. But once we were there, everything was smooth-sailing and they were very helpful.

If you value your life go elsewhere. The disorganization here will end your life. This cancer institute is clinic based. You will never ever be able to speak to your doctors office because he has no staff. Nurses are rude, uneducated and unprofessional. My father began his process over a month ago. After his diagnosis we are still waiting for everything to be coordinated. You would think a cancer institute would that, but they don’t. They make the patient get his own appointments to schedule a port for chemo and basically the care is up to you. How sad for the elderly that have no family. They will die waiting. Please seek care somewhere else. Time is of the essence when it comes to cancer. We regret ever bringing our father here. So many people here with important titles but do nothing to improve patient care. We received a phone call for my father’s patient advocate coordinator her name is Alejandra Ospina she gave us her direct number (or so we thought) for any help with my father care. She would advocate for us. NOTHING this lady never answered our messages and her so called direct phone number was actually to the calling center. All calls to this place get screened as if they decide which calls should be acknowledged. Disgraceful! Stay away from this place you will waste your time something you don’t have when dealing with cancer.

If you'd like to leave messages that don't get returned, go through the central answering system, no matter who you call, and are unable to make appointments within a reasonable time as you're going through one of the most stressful events of your life, MCI is for you. The lack of communication I have experienced with this facility (Baptist and South Miami) is unbelievable. Perhaps they feel that my type of cancer is not serious enough, but it's serious to me. I have never reached anyone without leaving from one to five messages. They indicate that they return calls within two days; however, that is not my experience. It's always longer if they get returned at all. I am still waiting for a return call from a message I left several weeks ago. There have been a couple of bright spots, Natasha in mammography, one of the (several) doctors I've seen, and an ultrasound tech, Nubia. And finally, read the notes in your file on the portal, as they may contain inaccurate information.

MCI saved my mother's life 3 years ago. I will forever be in debt to Dr. Jane Mendez & Dr. Guardiola. From the start Dr. Mendez made her and my family feel as comforted as can be imagined about what was to come. For some reason since our very first meeting I had faith my mother was going to be safe in their arms. I recommend them whole-heartedly. Shout out to all the nurses and techs who keep the hospital running, without you guys it isn't possible. To anyone fighting breast cancer or have fought it in the past my heart goes out to you, you are a warrior 💓🦋⚔️

My mother has a fantastic oncologist. My gripe is getting around the facility. When you're sick and you have to park in the East Wing and make the pilgrimage to the West Wing is deplorable. I am not in good health and must do this EVERYTIME I bring my mother for appointments. I understand the COVID thing, however, something else must be done. I have to push my mother in the wheelchair for such long distances really does a number on me. It's been 2 years of this and it's tiring already. Open those main doors for crying out loud!

The best adjective to describe the Rapid Treatment Department at the Miami Cancer Institute is, at best, incompetent. If you have a choice to go elsewhere, please do. Although the doctors at MCI are great, the amount of time you have to wait for a “rapid” treatment is beyond ridiculous. There’s nothing rapid about it. I’d say 1.5 to 2 hours of waiting for a simple injection is excessive and abusive for any patient, let alone cancer patients. And when you complain to Patient Advocacy, Administration will implement corrective measures that are short lived. They take one step forward and two steps back. It’s sad that such a state-of-the-art facility runs so poorly, and no one cares to make a difference.

Everyone at MCI made my breast biopsy experience less scary. The nurses were so kind and put me at ease. The radiologist was clear with her instructions and explained what she doing. The building is beautiful and everyone I encountered was genuinely kind.

Although we are all here for a diagnosis or treatment of an illness, it is such a warm and caring environment. My most sincere appreciation of each of you. From the garage staff and all the way to my stellar oncology surgeon, Dr. Gladys Giron, Dr. Frances Behrmann, Medical Oncologist, and Dr. Payoff, Oncology Radiation. You gave me hope and confidence from day 1. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.🩷🙏🏼

Well let’s start off by saying I really didn’t want to have to visit the MCI Institute, but life had other plans for me. I chose them because I heard such great things about them and they were absolutely correct. They have made me feel so cared about and very grateful that I chose them for this particular journey in my life. I would recommend that if you have cancer and need treatment this should be the facility that you choose.

From the moment you pull into the free parking garage you feel welcome. All the employees are friendly and helpful. The special touches like coffee, water, or snacks is super thoughtful as is the warm blanket of your cold. I love everything about Miami Cancer Institute but if I could make one request it would be to not have the violinist or pianist. The music is so sad. I’m already there for a sad reason and to listen to a violinist play Dust in the Wind doesn’t make me feel any better. Just a thought! Overall a WONDERFUL place for treatment.❤️

I’m a patient of MCI and when I found out about the new location in Plantation I decided to go to that facility which was closer to my home. All I can say they are very professional and very caring. The Diagnostic Center there is very clean and I can recommend the place to any one.

I would describe the place as the ideal hospital for any patient in need of special attention. Starting with the doctors that take care of the patients in a very professional and caring way. The nurses are constantly making sure everyone is fine and supervise the medications very well. All these workers make everyone feel in a safe environment where they know they are being taken care of, and can have every need fulfilled, and why not, I would say it is more than expected. It took my attention, how the hospital organized different types of entertainment to help patients forget the infusion process. Excellent violinist, pianist, that not only perform delightfully but also help you, psychologically speaking, to get through the day. There is also affordable prices for the food from the cafeteria. The religious services are also present given the sense that God is there for us too. Finally, I could be writing for hours, but I know I could never cover all the good impressions this hospital has inflicted on me. Thank you for your work and dedication.

There was a mix up in scheduling but the MCI receptionist made it work. I was not eager about waiting for an hour and half but it was worth my while. I got the best care! I got Nurse Arthur. He didn’t miss a beat, a timer, or personality. He explained everything, each step and with accuracy. Finding the port entry was quick and literally for the first time didn’t hurt. He was the last of the staff to leave on a Friday but his demeanor never fledged. I thank him for not in any way make me feel bad about the inconvenience. High five to him!

Miami Cancer Institute, specifically Dr. Jane Mendez, has been guiding me through my breast cancer journey and I highly recommend her! Her ability to explain in a manner that is both medical/science based and comforting to the range of human emotions I’ve experienced is exceptional. Not to mention her wealth of experience as a surgeon. Also, my interactions with every team member has been great - patient navigator, radiology, surgical coordinator, etc.- all have been wonderful and caring. Truly, Dr. Mendez has been such a pleasure. I have peace of mind that I’m being cared for by an outstanding physician and an outstanding person.

Very nice building. Parking convenient. Multiple stops required at check-in. Not sure why. However was attended to quickly and courteously! Staff is so thorough. Was seen by a nurse/practitioner prior to Dr. Gomez. She listened attentively and advised appropriately on treatment. Dr. Gomez came at end. Whole experience was good as can be. Would highly recommend!

I love my team here at the cancer institute. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last December, and I have so far experienced chemotherapy and surgery, with radiation treatment starting soon and finally reconstructive surgery. The communication with my doctors is incredible, not only is someone always available to answer any questions I might have, but it’s so convenient having all of the doctors able to communicate with each other seamlessly. The staff are always so sweet and accommodating, and the little extras that are provided like water, crackers, breakfast snacks, beautiful live music even, just make you feel so encouraged.

Dr Daghistani and his staff are amazing. My daughter felt so calm and comfortable throughout the appointment. She had blood drawn and it was a breeze. Thank you for your patience, your commitment and your love. My daughter left with a smile on her face and I had peace of mind. God bless you all. 🙏❤️😘🤗🥰

My experience was amazing and each team member that I encountered helped me understand what was going to happen with my examination and procedures. The doctor was phenomenal she explained to me what to expect and she helped relieve my anxiety and stress and fears. Each one of them are doing God's work in a very special way and as a patient I am very grateful and thankful for my time with the team at the Baptist Hospital Cancer Institute ..

EVERYTHING about MCI is AMAZING!!! From the medical staff to housekeeping and beyond was the best I’ve ever experienced. I’ve never experience a group of people that make you feel “special” and not just a number. One of the best medical decisions I’ve ever made.

The staff at the Miami cancer Institute were fabulous with my care. I was very scared and they calmed me down immediately. My breast biopsy from start to finish everything was five star I recommend them highly and I’m so glad they were there for me.

Dr Suarez Duran was an incredible medical professional. Her and the other assistants were extremely helpful and kind during my visit. They made me feel at ease during a stressful time when I had my biopsy procedure. I would whole-heartedly recommend them. I thank them for being truly caring about their patients.

I have been a patient of MCI since November 2022. I have been under the care of Dr. Garrido, she is very caring and methodical in her approach. Having Cancer isn’t easy emotionally but the staff at MCI is always so sweet and caring🥹 from the moment you drive in they have free valet parking, they offer refreshments and snacks. All the medical staff and support staff in the infusion center are amazing 🫶❤️ The only thing that could use improvement is their scheduling, or when you call them. They have a call center and you need to explain yourself 5 times. But besides this small inconvenience they have gone above and beyond.

After receiving my hospital diagnosis of giant tumor cell in my right femur and struggling for 2 weeks trying to find a specialist, I decided to make my appointment at this center because there is a well-known orthopedic oncology doctor there. Then, just a few days after my appointment, they contacted me telling me that unfortunately my insurance is not accepted at this medical center, so due to the immediate need to confirm my diagnosis, I decide to pay for the consultation with the doctor on my own and they tell me that I cannot pay for the appointment on my own because I have active insurance. My question is where is the empathy and compassion towards people who are struggling to continue living? To all those who are currently in the same situation as me, please go somewhere else, definitely here we are just a number $$ our lives mean nothing

Love this Hospital. The attention to us, is personalized and professional. The personal empathize with our needs. They are friendly and warm towards the patients. From the valet parking personal through medical field professionals. They make you feel like comfortable and stress free while we are there. Thank you a million times. There should be more CENTERS using the same practice. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

At all times I have felt the kindness and cordiality of the people. There have been somewhat complicated health situations, but there are very sweet and understanding people in this place who help a lot to face these moments. A few days ago I had a biopsy and God sent me an angel through the nurse who was always watching over me. I remember her name was Ashley. She was super friendly and dedicated to my needs all the time. I wish no one had to visit MCI due to illness, but if we have to go through this illness, this place is what we need to make it more bearable.

My mother has been a patient at MCI since July of this year. Thankfully I only have very positive things to say. The facilities are gorgeous, the staff is pleasant and extremely organized and the care my mother has received has been nothing short of phenomenal. As a cancer patient, it is extremely overwhelming to tackle so many different facets of your care but MCI makes it as seemless as possible. At first we were hesitant but today I am confident our family made the correct choice in choosing MCI. Thank you to all those that make our terrifying journey that much more pleasurable each and every week.

Excellent, most of time. I went for a medical review of the ER visit. Needed to discuss 2 transfusions and 2 iron infusions. An aide(who did not give her name or why my hematologist was not there to see me) Asked questions. ?

All of the healthcare workers are professional, concerned and knowledgeable. I've been treated here for about 4 yrs. And i have never had a problem. I can't say enough about how I've been treated with nothing but respect and concern about my illness. If not for my treatment here I may not be alive now. Many thanks to M.C.I. for my care and treatment. Love you guys❤

It’s unbelievable the great service they offer in this facility. Even you are in a hospital you feel so comfortable around everyone. They pay attention to all your needs without even asking. The staff members are exceptional all over the facility. Thank you to all the staff members and those who made possible a great patient care experience!!!

I love my doctor however if you have a question and/or an emergency you have to speak to about 3 to 4 and repeat your demographic before you actually get to speak even to the Dr. secretary. The clerks send a messages....... and/or messages and you hope and pray it gets to the right caring person that will return your call. It is discouraging with Baptist and healthcare the way it has turn out to be. I know that many patients have complaint about your process and it is still in place. While there may be many patients needing services; perhaps you can train the staff to make appointment and/or answer questions.

My mom was treated at MCI. All Dr’s were amazing. Facility was first class. And all Dr’s in one place. No need to travel around town on different days. All the care givers worked as a team on her treatment plan and treated my mom like their own. Thank you!

The service from the staff is above and beyond professional, they really take care of you, and make you feel comfortable, they take the time to explain to you and your family member, what is going to take place, and how to maintain you informed of your status, with the monitor that is in the waiting room. I recommend this Hospital to everyone looking for Hospital near you. Sincerely Chris

Dr. Daghistani and the entire staff from front desk to nurses were AMAZING! My daughter is only 15 months and everyone was super sweet! After getting her finger pricked for blood, she wouldn’t stop crying and when I realized I forgot her snacks to calm her down, another nurse went to get her juice and goldfish. As a first-time mom, this made my day because I was already feeling awful that I couldn’t get my daughter to calm down. Although I’m happy that I will not need to return to this department, I would ABSOLUTELY recommend them for any pediatric hematology needs.

On the brighter side, the seating accommodations on the rooftop were commendable. Plush loungers, shaded corners, and cozy nooks provided a luxurious escape despite the absent pool. Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute seemed to understand the importance of creating a tranquil environment for patients, offering a comfortable haven where one could relax and recover amidst the city skyline. As I sunk into one of the well-crafted chairs, I couldn't help but appreciate the attention to detail in the seating arrangements. The hospital had successfully transformed the rooftop into a stylish lounge area, compensating for the lack of aquatic allure with an emphasis on comfort. It was a reminder that even without a pool, Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute prioritized patient well-being through thoughtful design. Oh, and about the chocolate chip ice cream – a small indulgence I forgot to savor amidst the disappointment of the absent rooftop pool. Sometimes, even the sweetest treats can slip through the cracks when lofty expectations fall short. In the end, Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute remains a mixed bag of missed opportunities and unexpected comforts. 4/5 stars.
