Had a chat with will the manager. He is a wonderful guy very friendly and helpful. First time me and my wife have come here and will definitely come back again on our travels. Visited on Monday evening with friends for drinks. Excellent service from the staff, Hannah & Patrick, couldn’t fault anything. Participated in the Rock and Roll bingo which was a great laugh. Overall an excellent night, the pub is very inviting, friendly with a lovely ambience. Didn’t eat there so can’t comment on the food. Will be returning again.

The staff were really friendly and the pub was nice and welcoming. The food was ok but the cod from the cod and chips was over cooked and was really thin.

Saturday afternoon, very quiet. Pleasant music, kids were happy playing with the pool table. The food however was a let down.... the menu made the food sound fantastic, but when it arrived it definitely wasn't as described. Food was covered in dips which would have been much better served in little dipping pots... like a steak which was smothered in 'salsa verde'. Who has mint sauce with steak?! Rosemary and sea salt fries... which were plain and blistered vine tomatoes... which were cherry tomatoes out the fridge. I could go on! Basically... nothing was as described and the portions were on the small side. Staff were friendly though!

when I went to the bear and ragged staff with some friends, staff were lovely and polite and chatted to us enthusiastically. Food and drinks were very good and one of the staff members ( Sam) was polite and friendly with us and was happy to answer questions and help us have the most enjoyable experience there

All 3 of us ordered the same meal and all 3 of us did not get onion rings until we reminded them. Gave higher service rating as we got the food in the end. Other than that, the food was tasty but a bit pricy and the place comfortable but not top of the range. Very loud place when the footy is on but that didn't bovver me.

Had a fantastic lunch on Saturday, 10 of us and all the food came out at the same time, the manager could not do enough for us. The food was excellent as was the service, would definitely recommend.

Came in for a bite to eat. Ordered the Mac and cheese with cheesy garlic bread. Andrew was great at putting the order in quickly, the service was prompt thanks to Patryck and the food was delicious!

I have eaten here several times and it has been good, but just had the best cooked dinner in a pub ever. If that was three times the price in a Michelin stars restaurant I would not complained. Everything was cooked perfectly.

Lovely food, I'm pescatarian and normally find it difficult as I'm a fussy eater but eat fish (the fish and chips here is delicious)so to find this establishment do a beyond meat burger was great. The beyond meat burger 🍔 was also cooked well and tasted great. Will definitely visit again!

I haven't been to the bear for a long time but when I went a couple of weeks ago, we had the best meal for my husbands birthday. The bar staff were great and Jake went above and beyond to ensure food came out on time and kept the drinks flowing. Will definitely go more often.

A big thank you to Jake and the team. I booked a large table at the last minute for my birthday. And Jake sorted everything from start to finish. The food was perfect, very tasty. The drinks were flowing all night. We even stayed for a game of rock n roll bingo. Definitely will be back. Thanks again Jon

Came here for lunch and the food was nice! They barely had any food as they were shut for the last 2 days and had to throw everything away but wasn’t made aware of this until we’d already decided what we wanted, additionally it took longer than I’d expected for them to make 2 toasties when it was fairly empty and considering the fact they didn’t have much food. Aside from this I have no complaints about the meal but they could have a few more options on the menu as it’s quite a basic menu so it doesn’t excite me so much to return

We’ve been visiting “the bear” for a number of years, calling the pub “our local” and all I can say what a difference we have seen from Jake taking over the day to day operations. Staff are happy, friendly and attentive. The pricing is very competitive. Food is always good, fair for the price. Keep up the good work and we’ll be back once we’re home from Belgium!!

Never eaten here before and was pleasantly surprised. Good food and friendly staff. Would have given 5 stars if plant based milk had been available for coffee after our meal. Maybe next time?

Greene King. Very friendly service, chatting and recommending drinks, offering tasters, with good choice of drinks, some interesting unusual options such as a mango cider. Plenty of seating including large tables for groups. Fairly quiet on my visit at dinner time on a thursday. Fruit machines available. Pool table and dart board available but their space overlaps so expect to only be able to use one at a time. Pool table is £1.50 so a steep price.

My Friend & I have been coming to the pub for 5 years on our break, never before have we ever been disappointed, friendly staff, good atmosphere & great food. But today tainted all of that. We was served the wrong drinks, the food came to our table & the presentation was awful! I had the Hunters Chicken, swimming in cheese servered in a unattractive metal dish. My friend had Bangers & Mash, the mash was dry & lumpy & the greens were hard. We was offered no condiments or asked if we was satisfied with our meal. The staff had no frienly greeting oreven a smile.

Sadly a terrible evening at this establishment. Sold out of half the menu but can't tell you until you've ordered something. The food takes ages to come out and the server did not know what she was serving, saying "this is probably Mac and Cheese, I will find out". Being served gone off salad, missing an add on that was paid for and then being told our chicken burger "wasn't defrosted yet" so they would stick a breaded chicken fillet in a bun instead. Will not return.

Traditional old style pub on the main Warwick Road which has sectioned seating areas and lots of tv's showing sport etc. Very quiet on a Tuesday lunchtime though! Had cheese burger and chips and a pint of T Taylor which went down well. Would recommend as pub is very quaint, clean and has a nice relaxing feel about it!!

Without doubt Leanne and Danny’s Sunday lunch is the best in the county and you really should book in advance to avoid being left watching everyone else tuck into the fabbie grub.(even teh veggie stuff is cooked separately). Very welcoming atmosphere , happy to let in dogs and all decorated to a good standard. The menu is good, varied and Leanne does an amazing job and the food is served all day.. Its also very good for veggies. If you want a light lunch the soup and rosaries are just smashing. Its also a good spot for sport (footy/rugby /cricket) and has an incredibly competitive Bingo night on Monday Decent wine list and good range of beers including guest beers . Great brunch menu if you book in advance So if you are visiting the area for work or leisure, this is a great find.

Not great tbf. Half a Roast chicken should come with a very small, very cooked description. If I had an ounce of meat I was lucky. Love this pub just ordered the wrong thing..I just wish the 'cook' would refuse to send it out.... but alas he didn't and I got it. Yeah I can send it back but we didn't have time to hang around..

I had an absolutely fantastic evening in the Bear and Ragged Staff - the food was sublime. I had a katsu chicken burger; my date had a chicken pie. The fantastic leadership shown by Ellie in the bar and Alex in the kitchen was evident through my entire stay. The whole team shone, professional throughout yet warm and welcoming. 5/5, can't recommend enough, would definitely come back.
