Free (apart from the Uber rides) and big enough to get kind of lost in. Take a photo of the map at the entrance gate, it will help a lot to make sense of things. (Also to find the bathroom.) It's amazing how in short order you can go from organized garden to redwood forest to Mediterranean dell.

Beautiful hidden gem! Love this garden. There’s a bike rack right inside the gate for people to lock up their bikes. Dogs seem welcome as I saw many in a leash.

Beautiful, well maintained trails, beautiful flowers and water features and awesome views. Come alone with a book or a journal and enjoy the peace and quiet in one of the many benches or bring the family and enjoy the kid areas. Two downsides... Parking is limited and they're only open during the week.

A wonderfully fragrant garden. Not a very large property, but nonetheless full of many different plants. Dogs are welcomed👍👍👍. Great view of the Bay

Shame on UC admin for only opening this to the public during business hours. More people should be allowed opportunities to visit this wonderful place. The grounds and gardens are great for kids and others to explore. Excellent views, beautiful showcase of the kind of landscape design appropriate for this region. Lots of habitat for our endangered pollinators, bees and monarchs.

I stumbled upon this place online, and asked my friend if she wanted to walk around there with me. She had been visiting there for decades. A great place to: do a walking meditation; do Yoga or Tai Chi; to catch up with an old friend; or arrange to volunteer in the garden. We went there in the beginning of November. Not so much blooming at this time of year, but each season brings its own beauty.

Wonderful big garden run/owned by UCB. Gorgeous views of the bay, nice place for a walk and quiet and variety of gardens, an old abandoned Chancellor ' s house, interesting historical and landscape exhibits, nice people, and for the kids there's a great fort building area with logs, branches and garden detritus to build the enclosure of a kid's dream....much cheaper than bay area real estate, and more fun too! Turn over a log in wet weather and there are usually salamanders and the occasional newt (shown here....avoid touching these orange guys as they excrete a mild poison when frigtened.) Salamanders are dark brownish color & ok to pickup. Enjoy! Check open hours.

This is a small, beautiful garden with lovely views of San Francisco Bay, wooded trails, a koi pond and flower gardens. It is open weekdays only. It is a great spot for photography, and quiet walks. Children love exploring the trails and crossing the little bridges across the streams. The is a parking lot, but no visitor center. There is a porta potty.

What a beautiful treasure, with more to it than first needs the eye. Little twisting paths, beautifully manicured walkways, tree thickets, ponds, and vistas. I just would like to see it open beyond Mon-Fri 9-5 to give the public more of a chance to visit.

Amazing gardens and woodland on a steep slope overlooking the bay. Fantastic views, and if you get there by bus(#7) Berkeley to el Cerrito more wonderful views of the bay bridge, San Francisco and the Golden Gate bridge. Great place on a hot day, and its free!! No food or drink when we went so check.

The house is not much to look at. But the garden is a delight. Easy, convenient, free parking.

This was the first time I had been there. It is a hidden gem. Pretty gardens and koi pond. No trash cans, so take out what you brought in. You can have events here as well. Not sure of the pricing.

Even on the winter light rainy day, this garden is still nice to explore. You still can find over 20 flowers growing inside.

This luxurious and well-tended garden is a little piece of paradise, hidden away at the end of a quiet residential street in North Berkeley. It's beautifully landscaped with thoughtfully designed pathways throughout the grounds. Note: The garden closes at 4:30pm on weekdays, and is not open on weekends.

As others have noted, this place should really be open better hours. Because it's wonderful! An expansive botanical garden with tons of different interesting sections, great paths, twists and turns, various environments, bridges, a historic house, and a nice main greenhouse/lobby center. I learned the history of the house and the gardens only through overhearing other people talk, so I wish they had actual historic information on display too. But, despite some areas for improvement, this place is still so completely worth it. Can't be missed.

Blake Gardens is a beautiful place to walk around and hang out. There are benches, rocks, great views, and some picnic tables in various places to stop and spend time with friends, or just to sit quietly by yourself. Warning most paths are dirt and gravel, some paths are steep and rocky. This is more a place to explore and adventure. Not recommended for individuals with mobility limitations.
