Doesn't really have anything to do with Audubon other than maybe he visited but the house, architecture and furniture are beautiful period items. The grounds are limited but nice and the staff was knowledgeable and pleasant. We dig the more cultural side of Key West and this diversion was worth it. 15.00 a person

Admirable that this was a private renovation of a decaying property that may have spurred a rejuvenation in Key West but link to Audubon is tenuous at best. Most of the contents are "of the period" not original to the house and there is a very disturbingly decorated room on the top floor, with plants and grass on the ceiling, garish wallpaper and a soundtrack reminiscent of a brainwashing experiment. Avoid! This is supposed to be a gallery for Audubon prints but totally fails

This house is a captivating snippet of early Key West settlement. The estate is a fine example of the possessions and dwellings of a wealthy salvor, Captain Geiger. The furniture, doors, construction methods, and the cookhouse are noteworthy. I was particularly interested in what appear to be an early example of roller skates. Mr. Audubon's artwork may be purchased at the store. Student discount admission is available.

I was not familiar with this family, nor was Audubon an interest. I do enjoy seeing a variety of foliage. This facility offered a broad spectrum of plants, as well as a lovely history of the home. Audubon lithographs are seen throughout the home. A replica cooking house is present that gives an interesting experience.

Beautiful museum with a lot of history, not Just James Audubon's works. Loved the gardens! The lady running the tour was so sweet and helpful. I really enjoyed the odd but beautiful old rooms. Super neat history.

What an interesting part of Key West history and preservation of what could have been lost. The Geiger and Smith family's home provides a look into the 1800's Key life. The Audubon connection certainly adds to the story and aided in this preservation. There are many Audubon drawings and other art that portrayed many species before they were lost to time, and this shares him to people who may not know of his legacy of preserving the past.

If you're looking for a picturesque place to get married in Key West, you should check out Audubon House. It's got a great vibe that feels like you're in a tropical paradise, even though you're right in the middle of downtown. And the best part is, it's super private so you won't feel like you're right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. It's a great spot for a wedding!

As a Key West local wedding planner, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE working at Audubon. This place has so much history and the garden is so amazingly taken care of. Laura and her staff are so easy to work with and communication flows very easily. If you visit the property, do not forget to see the third floor. It is an amazing experience and will definitely surprise you. Love you guys! XO LITTLE MISS PLANNER

Historic items in a family home that Audubon had visited. His work hangs on the walls and an original book is on display. Small garden marked with identification of plants. No actual birds 😁 but a "unique" room to sit in with bird sounds!

Such a beautiful property! I’ve been multiple times. If you really love old houses with history and beautiful tropical gardens then this is a great spot. My most recent visit was because we held our wedding there and it was absolutely stunning!

After taking the self guided tour with introduction, I’m still unclear what this house has to do with Audubon other than he stayed on his boat in the harbor and visited the gardens. More than likely it has something to do with the store where they sell Audubon prints. It would be more accurately represented as the Geiger house and garden. The house would probably be more lovely without the awkward Audubon overlay.

Very interesting house and grounds. The "bird room" was a bit cheesy, but it was awesome to walk through time.

Wonderfully restored/preserved house. I recommend going in early, I was there at opening time and I had the entire house all to myself. Very nice short presentation before they let you wander by yourself. The house is a bit chilly, be sure to pack a light sweater to put on. Very friendly staff !

Beautiful visit and a great way to get a feel for how a prosperous family lived in WW 150 years ago. I do wish they would consider redoing the gallery (on the 3rd floor). The over the top decor of that one room distracts from the Audibon prints displayed there.

Nice place, it is a restored old house and has some prints of bird paintings by Audubon. The guide who sits there was very interesting and a very nice man. The place as such is not as interesting, it is just an old house. The bird paintings and the journal are fascinating, great drawings and good detail but the paintings on display are not even the original ones, they are the print versions of the originals! Not worth the $15 fee I think. Well kept washrooms on site was a great plus

No doubt this is a must-visit in Key West. Interesting house and spectacular drawings inside. Also the friendliest staff and special thanks to Dennis for providing a great and informative tour!

I've thought about this review a great bit! Audubon was a truly complex person. He was a slave holder, and a true advocate for slavery! He also shot every single bird he ever painted (hundreds of times in many cases!)That being said, Audubon's artwork is brilliant beyond dispute! It's still in question whether he stayed in this house. But this house is well worth the visit! The grounds are beautiful! The home is a brilliant snapshot of Key West in the early 19th century. Note: I'm a bird fan!

This historic spot is well worth the time. Very historical and well done museum. The docent and gift shop owners were so nice.
