After 10 years of ownership here, we are looking at a holiday week spoiled by management's refusal to accommodate a registered emotional support animal. With no response to multiple calls and messages a week in advance, the management waited until the day before check in to communicate, as well! Too late to turn around after nine hours on the road... Shame on this resort for their lack of support for disabled people, disabled veterans, those who have served. UPDATE: We found an alternative accommodation - not comparable, but at least we had somewhere to stay with our service dog and did not have to completely cancel our trip, and The Banyan did eventually agree to reimburse us for that cost.

I’ve stayed at this hotel probably four times now and although I tend to want to like this hotel I think mostly what I like is Key West and tropical atmosphere every time I stay at this hotel there’s some sort of problem. It’s older hotel creaky fans and wooden floors and sometimes things don’t work so well yet they still charge you that high Key west price.I don’t know who runs it but it’s not run well my most recent stay resulted in my room not being cleaned even though I called three times concerned it wasn’t being clean. No one cared I had no clean towels or trash was full, bed not fresh. The last time I was talking with women in office and I said I know it’s not your fault honey … her reply was “ my name is not honey, it’s ____. I’m done with wasting my money here too many other night priced places that really are 4 or 5 star for same price.

This is a great place to stay. I loved having the little bar/food shack. Pool area is quiet and relaxing. Rooms are very clean and close to pretty much everything. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Very affordable.

The pool and resort facilities are cute and historic. The location is great to many restaurants and other activities along Duval. However, the quality and cleanliness of our room were below what we expected at this price point. When we arrived, one of the toilets had not been cleaned. One of the mini shampoo bottles was partially used. The shower water pressure and hot water were barely there. Some of the bedroom doors were very difficult and loud to open which made it difficult with multiple guests in one room. There is no bag storage facility other than the front desk instructing you to leave your bags on the porch because “they have cameras.”

Loved staying here. Close enough to Duval but not so close as to hear it. Quaint rooms, great amenities.

Great location. Ample space. Terrible Wifi. Can be noisy if room gives on street. Great pools and hot tub.

One of the front desk staff was unpleasant, bordering on hostile. Michael, is a perfect professional though. Grounds crew are making improvements w/ smiles. Bar staff provide well from that tiny TIKI hot box kitchen, w/ laughs. Cleaning staff does their best w/o much help, especially w/ the language barriers. But the administration, including the Board needs to be adjusted to serve the needs of the sweating staff and paying guests. Please don't send owner money and commit owner money to an outside contractor for a key card system. It will only lead to marred up historical doors, a technological nightmare to maintain, an opportunity to be shaken down for new technology and additional expenses whenever the contractor tells us it is imperative, in the future. At least until this administration can get Wi-Fi to not stop working several times a day, please do not increase our dependence on technology. Not to mention the potential for a hacker to breach our security system and gain access to the property and/or individual units. Increase lighting at after hours gates if anything. The literal key system has worked for decades since the beginning of the resort and could be maintained with more accountability and responsibility on the part of guests, owners, and board members. In addition if one of these key pads stops working after hours this isn't a typical hotel where staff can gain access and just move them to another room until repaired. The after hours expenses and confusion will likely only increase versus being able to tell the guest who lost their key / locked themselves out, the expense is on them. Intoxicated residents should never be a reason to spend others' money. The last thing I want to do while enjoying the island's libations is have to pull my wallet out, in the dark, on the public side of the security gate.

Staying at the Banyan was a great experience again as it has been over the years for me. It's my go to place whenever I'm in Key West and it has has a secluded feel with beautiful hanging banyan trees thru out even though it's located in the center of old town. The people here from the front office to the service people are top notch. Love hanging out!

Beautiful 1800’s era resort wonderfully situated in Old Town Key West. You can walk or bike anywhere or rent a golf cart or scooter. Well appointed rooms and absolutely stunning grounds. The resident cat, Abby, is great also.

This place is amazing. With real Banyan trees throughout. Conveniently located. The staff is super friendly, including Salty Julie at the pool bar. There's a family pool and an adult pool. The rooms are each unique. The breakfast and lunch menus are moderately priced. There's limited parking available. I'm looking forward to seeing there again.

I love this place. It's the best-hidden stay. And the trees and the gardens are beautiful. I love how close it is to the main streets and it is a short walk. The rooms are very nice as well and they are very accommodating. I love the little kitchen and my bathroom was very nice. The bed was very comfy as well and I loved sitting out on the porch in the morning. In the years of staying here in June the parade was just right outside my front door.

Wifi is very spotty. Room is nice but has really high humidity and stinky smell from the old carpet. Absolutely horrible guest service experience. The front desk insisted that i put my credit card on file but I didn’t even book the reservation - my friend did. How can they not have my friend’s credit card on my profile but mine?! So now they charge whatever they want on my credit card. Just because we are two Asian girls doesn’t mean we are the same people. Discrimination or at least unconscious bias.

The location was everything!! The Banyan's location is within walking distance to most places on Duval St. Yvonne in the office was amazing and so accommodating. The only reason I gave rooms a 4 was because room 416 was less than ideal with having to walk up the stairs and the bathroom was very small. I would recommend The Banyan and hope to be back!!

Great location one block over from Duval street. Quick walk to dining and bars. Lush tropical landscape with several Banyan trees. All the staff was friendly and worked constantly on upkeep.

Nothing about this resort is luxurious. The best thing is the location. The rooms are dated, but if you like rattan, this is your dream. The owners at the pool are not respectful of others; they rotate playing loud music assuming everyone in attendance enjoys their selection. Several mentioned the reason they bought here was because of the capital reserve. I suggest the board start spending some of it on updates. When small trees are growing out of the gutters, there might be a problem. Our attic room was quirky. The shower has a great skylight, but there is no way to turn the shower on without getting wet. All the blinds need replacing, as many do not operate correctly. The door to the deck has no weather stripping so you can see the outside from the bottom. The kitchen is well equipped, but there is no dishwasher. When the tiki bar is open, it's excellent; the bartender was super friendly and very welcoming. But then it closed without notice in the middle of the day. The pool area is refurbished, but there are two umbrellas for over 20 chairs on a sunny pool deck. The pool is attended to once during the day. By the afternoon, tree debris is all around the deck. The iguanas eat the vegetation to death, and guests feed them and the chickens. Deminishing the beauty of the landscape. During our visit, several guests smoked at the pool as there is not a designated smoking area. One pool was closed without notice except during check-in. Housekeeping is AMAZING! These ladies and gentlemen are super friendly and very helpful in exchanging pool towels and room towels whenever you need them. I waited years to trade into this place and can say we won't be back.

Friendly accommodating staff. Cute little pool bar with great bartender. Friendly folks who own there. Clean and spacious unit centrally located. They have bike rentals on property which was super convenient. Will definitely return.

We've been owners for almost 20 years. It is our own heaven on earth.

Beautiful place. Convenient to Duval and all the action. Short walk to Mallory Square for sunsets and entertainment. Across from the Truman White House and near the Atocia Museum.

The place is smack dab in the middle of the flight path TO the airport. LOTS of low landing approaches. That is one busy airport! I loved watching the planes go over while floating in the pool.

My wife and I have owned timeshare elsewhere in Key West since 1993. We wanted to add an extra week to our annual vacay plans, and chose The Banyan. After two years of being unable to travel to the US (from the UK), we enjoyed our first stay last week. We had a great holiday. Great location (walking distance to everywhere downtown), great history, and super clean and comfortable room. The best thing about timeshare is knowing “we’ll be back” - and we’re looking forward to coming back to The Banyan in 2023 already. Special mention of Yvonne at reception for her help at our check-in, and for being “just so nice” to us.

Great stay. Beautiful area. Clean rooms. Great service. The resort is in the heart of all the fun (Duval St is directly behind) Walking distance to most attractions. Didn't have to drive a car if we didn't want to. Will definitely be back
