What a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made sure we were taken care of and provided us with a cooler that they provided with water and other beverages you may want to carry on. They educated us on the Dry Tortugas and provided a map of the island so we could use our time wisely. Kris was our pilot, and well, he was fantastic. He made the whole trip there and back on such an amazing trip. The absolute beauty is breathtaking. Kris made sure everyone on the flight was taken care of and enjoyed the views to and from Dry Tortugas. He even spotted dolphins and turned the plane around so everyone could see the magnificent view. Kris is very knowledgeable about the island, and it was very interesting to hear all the stories. We definitely recommend taking the seaplane to the Dry Tortugas. Breathtaking views that you just can't capture with the camera. Once at Fort Jefferson, we had 2 1/2 hours to explore the island. We chose to explore the fort first, which we were thankful we did since it was a warmer day. We spent a good hour exploring the fort, then went to the gift shop. Very small gift shop but it was perfect. There were some artifacts on display and, of course, a spot where you can get your national park book stamped. The last 1 1/2 we used enjoying the water. We enjoyed exploring the 2 beaches, and the pilot recommended which beach to snorkel at due to water clarity. Our friends enjoyed snorkeling while we enjoyed swimming and exploring. Before the flight back, they recommend you bring dry clothing for your ride back. So allow yourself time to change before the flight back. Kris, our pilot, made sure everyone on our flight had pictures if you so desired them. He was a great host. The overall trip to the Dry Tortugas was a one in a life time opportunity. Definitely recommend this adventure and would love to go again.

We did the half day afternoon seaplane adventure and it was perfect. Flying in the seaplane is one of two ways to get to Dry Torgugas National Park and definitely the way to go. The ferry takes over 2 hours each way. The plane only about 40 minutes. Our pilot pointed out interesting sites along the way and my husband even got to sit in the copilot seat. The flight there and back were smooth and so were both landings. We arrived just as the ferry was leaving so we nearly had the entire island to ourselves. They even provided us with snorkel gear and a cooler with water and soda. I highly recommend this experience!

This was an incredible way to see Fort Jefferson. If you’re able to swing the extra cost I’d absolutely recommend this over the ferry. We went with the whole family, including grandparents and our 4 month old. From the plane we saw tons of sea turtles and a couple of wrecks. Two hours was the right amount of time to get to tour the fort and have some time to relax & enjoy the beautiful views of the blue-green water.

What a great experience! Pilot Kris made it amazing. Taking the plane means you avoid seasickness! You get there in 35 minutes instead of 2 1/2 hours. Excellent! What a beautiful experience a once in a lifetime trip to take off your bucket list.

Our only regret is not booking the full day experience. What a fantastic adventure! Our pilot pointed out a few points of interest along the way and we even were lucky enough to fly over groups of turtles and sharks swimming below. The Fort itself is fascination, but the snorkeling was where we spent the majority of our time. Seaplane adventure gave us suggestions of where to snorkel and it did not disappoint.

Our pilot, Chris, was awesome and made the experience special. Weather was perfect. I saw sharks within 10 minutes of taking off. Chris pointed out cool stuff to see as we flew. 500 feet altitude, you could see a lot. I love American history and walking around Ft Jefferson was great. Snorkeling, much of the coral was dead but still saw some fish. Wish I’d brought my own mask, but that’s on me. Water was super clear. But the flight was great. Don’t hesitate to do this

One of the best things I've ever done! Our pilot Kris was awesome! The Dry Tortuga National Park, Fort Jefferson and the snorkeling were incredible, but my favorite part was the flight to and from the park. So many things to see along the way and Kris made sure we saw as much as possible.

Absolutely spectacular! Worth the price for a bird's eye view of Key West, The Flats, Quicksands, shipwrecks, turtles, sharks, rays, reefs, islands and, of course, the magnificent Fort Jefferson. Half-day with 2-1/2 hours on the island is plenty of time for touring and snorkeling. Great pilot, tour and experience. Twice the price of the ferry, but a quarter of the travel time and much better views. Highly recommend.

Great experience! The pilot is amazing. He points out marine life and places of interest, tilts the plane so you can get a great view and picture. The plane ride is smooth and you get to the Dry Tortugas in half of the time it takes the Ferry. So the island is quite for at least 2 hours before the Ferry arrives. The company supplies you with Bottled water, ice and a cooler. No need to bring one along. Bring some lunch and enjoy your day.

This is well worth the extra money vs the boat. In addition to getting there fast and not worrying about being sea sick, you also get additional time on the island without the larger crowd from the boat. I would recommend the full day. We were nervous that it might be too long but the time flew by. It would have been a rush if we tried to do all of the things (explore fort, see island, and snorkel). There are tons of large hermit crabs on the island and we saw plenty of fish and one turtle snorkeling. I would try multiple spots snorkeling if it isn't good the first place you try. Your fellow island travelers are good resources to compare notes on the best spots that day. Our pilot, Kris, was great. It was a much smoother takeoff and landing then I expected. We were lucky enough to see tons of turtles and a pod of dolphins on the flights.

The afternoon before we were supposed to go on our trip Steve from Key West Seaplane Adventures called me to inform me that the plane was grounded for a repair and that our trip had to be either canceled or rescheduled! They had a second airplane and a couple of hours later they called me to tell me that they had a cancellation and that there was room for us. Off we went! It was GREAT!, the views were amazing, Rob, our pilot was very friendly, he flew us very low on some points of interest on the way, the take off and the touch down were very smooth both ways, Dry Tortugas has a very unique history, worth visiting and knowing about it, the snorkeling is very pretty and colorful. You do not need to bring your own equipment, Key West Seaplane Adventures will provide it for you, as well as refreshments. The trip was well worth it, thank you Steve, thank you Rob, thank you Key West Seaplane Adventures.

This is actually my second trip with Key West Seaplane Adventures and it was as awesome as the first I did a few years ago! We did a half-day excursion to Dry Tortugas National Park (the last one of the day) on 11/21 and basically had the entire island to ourself since the ferry was leaving as we landed. While more expensive, the sea plane is so worth it - especially as someone who gets seasick easily. 30-40 minutes of travel time each way vs 2.5-3 hours, plus the aerial views and experience of landing/taking off on the water is really cool. Britt was our pilot and did a wonderful job sharing insight and facts along the way and made sure each side of the plane had great photo opps. It was rainy (obviously not something anyone could control) but we were just glad we were able to go and had a great time regardless! Very convenient to have snorkel gear and drinks taken care of for us even though due to the rain, we didn’t end up snorkeling. We really enjoyed spending our time on the island exploring all the levels of the fort. The park is definitely a bucket list item and the team at Key West Seaplane Adventures was so helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend the experience!

Took the Key West Seaplane last half day excursion to Dry Tortugas on 11/21/23 and had a great experience! The staff is very friendly and give great advice and our pilot Britt was very knowledgeable and shared lots of stories about the sunken ships and various landmarks we passed. Although it rained all day (can’t change the weather) my sister and I still had a great time exploring the Fort (we passed on snorkeling due to the rain). Britt made sure we got GREAT photo opportunities at sunset (both sides of plane views) and tried to make sure everyone has a great experience despite the bad luck with the weather. Although the seaplane option is more expensive than the ferry - it IS SO WORTH IT. The travel time is way shorter (30-40min vs 2-3 hrs each way), no sea sickness (we saw a lobster boat and the seas were ROUGH), and great photo opps with the ariel views! Since we were the last excursion of the day, we practically had the island to ourselves and had free rein to explore! Highly recommend to any National Park fans - the gift shop is limited but they do have a stamp for your passport (and I will be buying my iron patch online since they were sold out)!

WOW is all I can say!!! What an amazing experience!! Hubby and I took the half day trip for our 31st anniversary and it was phenomenal! Our pilot, Joe, was so nice and gave us all kinds of fun facts on the ride there and back. He is an excellent pilot and both landings, water and land, were perfect! This was a day we'll never forget! Worth every penny!!

I am a "Local" in Key West, - this was the best and most unbelievable experience I have ever had, the views were amazing! My Pilot was Capt. Marcus, he is very friendly and full of fun facts. We saw dozens of sea turtles, rays, and sharks with stunning views of the crystal clear water (and his flight music was on point!) I did a half day trip, spent AM snorkeling the mote wall, and birdwatching while waiting for return. Best Day Ever! Thanks so much!

Going to Dry Tortugas this way was fun, fast and 1.5 hours ahead of the 200 arriving on the Ferry. 1/2 day was a bit short but a full day may have felt a bit long. Brian was excellent. Saw sunken ships and explained all the sea shapes while flying.

This is just an amazing trip. They take great care of you, soft drinks and water. Free snorkeling gear if you need it. The pilots are professional but laid back. You're 500 feet off the water for most of the trip. Spend the $ and do this.

The best and fastest way to get to Dry Tortugas. Friendly and helpful staff. My family got in on a cancellation the next day. Definitely saved us because the boat and seaplanes were booked up for the next 3 weeks. They give you a small cooler and snorkel gear so keep that in mind of all the things you need to bring with you. For my wife and I plus an 8 month old baby it was a bunch.

This is an amazing way to see the Dry Tortugas our pilot allowed one guest to sit up front and when he found dolphins swimming under us he circled around so we could get a great view. The information that was provided while we were flying is interesting. Lost treasures waiting for us to find. We used the snorkeling equipment and really enjoyed the fort. I would highly recommend this trip.

I usually do not comment on tour agency, but this one is absolutely terrific! We are lucky the flight took off on time. The staff in the office is very informative during the ckeck-in process. The pilot, Chris, is super friendly and his wonderful work deserves tips after the trip. The service from this tour agency matches the ~$750 cost for two. If you are easy to get air/car/sea sick, take some medicine first because the seaplane is not as smooth as a regular airplane. The overall 2.5 hour stay in the park is kind of short and we want to explore more. Next time we will either do a full day trip or camp on the island.

This was so worth it! The views were spectacular and the pilot pointed out areas to look for wildlife and two different ship wrecks. It was a quick flight, and the perfect amount of time on the island.

I hardly ever write reviews, but this group deserves 100 stars!! Our pilot Kris was awesome and made the experience unforgettable! My boyfriend and I booked the half day excursion. Kris let me sit up front and the views were amazing. He took photos and videos for me on and off the plane and gave us so much interesting information about the ocean, wildlife, and history of the area. The flight was smooth, touring the fort and snorkeling was also super cool. It has easily been the highlight of our trip to Key West, and honestly one of the coolest experiences of my life! Choose this experience and I promise you will be glad you did!!

The most memorable trip! Our pilot Kris was amazing! He made sure to point out everything, gave us history, and made us feel special! It was my friends birthday so he had her co pilot! The views are amazing, the island and water are beautiful! If you are debating taking this trip..Don’ t just do it! Bucket list trip!

Wow are we so glad we took the seaplane instead of the ferry to Dry Tortugas! Our pilot Adam was fantastic! He pointed out the sea life and even circled back for us to get a better view! We saw dolphins, sharks, rays, and sea turtles from the air. Snorkeling was a bit tough as it was windy. We are super glad we booked the first flight of the day since we left just as the ferry arrived! Make sure you book early!

One of the best experiences ever!!! The flight was awesome, our pilot Gary was the best, and the Dry Tortuga's were beautiful. I would definitely recommend.

We had the best time. A great Adventure to the dry Tortugas. The seaplane trip made it very enjoyable, it cut off about an hour and 45 minutes travel time compared to the ferry. The trip was made extra special by the pilot Chris, very knowledgeable and entertaining. We will definitely make this trip again.

We loved our trip! We took the half day trip to Dry Tortugas, our pilot Chris was great! He told us lots of interesting things about the area and pointed out dolphins and sea turtles as we went by. And of course the island was magnificent! Absolutely worth it! I'm already planning my next visit!

What an amazing trip, so much better than the ferry it's not even funny. Will be doing this every time I return to the keys! John is the man!! Make sure you tip your tour guide, too many people weren't throwing them any money!

  • 5/5 Emily A. 2 years ago on Google
Bucket list, just do it. They were fantastic, best experience to visit the dry Tortugas. We did the half day, which gave us 2.5 hours on the island. An hour for the fort and hour to snorkle... we've seen way better snorkeling but overall it was just a perfect day. Wow

We had a very good trip .it was beautiful looking out over the ocean with that beautiful carribean blue color.the fort history was very interesting. The only downside was not being able to snorkle because of poor visibility. Landing on the water was surprisingly like landing on cotton. Totally prepared for a rougher experience. The office people as well as pilot ,were knowledgeable and helpful. We would recommend to anyone.

Flew to Dry Tortugas National Park with Seaplane Adventures. It was wonderful. The plane was old but I felt very safe and had a great time looking for sea lives from above. They play the recorded tour guidance on plane, but captain was also very knowledgeable and was actively looking for dolphins and making sure we all can have a good look of them. We saw dolphins, sharks, plenty of sea turtles, and jelly fish from above. It was a great tour in the sky.

Kris was our pilot on this tour and he was amazing. My wife and I wanted to go to the Fort Jefferson Dry Tortogas but did not want to spend several hours on the boat tour. This excursion was perfect for our needs and you get a birds eye view of the sanctuary islands below Key West. Very informative tour. It was our first time on a seaplane and it was amazing. I would recommend this for anyone who like swimming, snorkeling or touring historical old forts. The plane has a short ladder you have to climb to get into the plane. We had an elderly lady in our group but she didn't have any issues with them.
