It's an absolutely beautiful place. Since it was out of the way, you don't get many crowds and can explore the area peacefully. Because there are no crowds, the area is REALLY clean (so please don't spoil it for anyone else!) We went during the rainy season, so the water was a bit too rough, but I imagine it is more gentle when the water level is low and you can even take a swim (if you like swimming in muddy water. No judgment) There's a set of ramshackle stairs that give you access to the dam (?) and a rough footpath that leads to a bigger dam which is more impressive but not as charming as the bricks and mortar anicut

This location is extremely scenic. There seems to be a government circuit bungalow which is currently (12th July 2019) under construction/renovations. The canal at the front leads from a small reservoir. It's a really nice location and the views are peaceful.

This was originally build by Greatest King Mahasen to feed the Magalle wawa which also build by himself. Ridi Bendi Ela anicut build across the daduru oya and then feeder canal to Nikaweratiya but after the construction of a daduru oya reservoir water supply getting limited. This is very beautiful place to visit and grate example of ancient Sinhalese irrigation capability.

The name "Ridee Bandilla" means an olden method of irrigation or a way that the ancient people built a dam across a stream. But the dam is not completely block the stream or the river. Instead it makes a basin in the river letting water to flow ahead. The channel is getting water from this basin controlling with a manually operated iron doors. This is belongs to the irrigation department of sri lanka.

This Weir (Anicut) constructed across Deduru Oya for the agricultural purposes. This Anicut provides water for Magalle and other irrigation tanks.

This is a anicut built about 70 years ago and this anicut is used to carry water to Magalle wewa (tank) situated in Nikaweratiya. This has been built across the Daduru oya reservoir .
